We rented 4 of the 5 cottages for a long weekend for 18 of us to celebrate a joint 40th birthday and had such a wonderful time! ! The cottages are well stocked & clean and tidy. The pool is fabulous and we spent many hours splashing about in there having fun!! The host's were very welcoming and even allowed the kids to help feed the chickens one morning, which they really enjoyed. The grounds are spacious and we enjoyed lots of outdoor activities over the weekend that we stayed. I would thoroughly recommend a visit here and we are already planning when we can return!! More...

Stayed just one night as a flying visit en route to Exeter. My accommodation was the one bed Nuthatch. The space is just perfect for one or two people. Decor is fuss- free and, as a result, not intimidating - it feels very homely. Great location for lovely country walks, lovely pool for a little dip. Back from a fabulous break at the Three Gates Farm and would not hesitate to recommend as an ideal location for a Mid-Devon break and exploring the area. We stayed in Nuthatch cottage which was charming, clean and well equipped, perfect for the 2 of us. The Farm is lovingly maintained by the hosts and gardeners, and a lovely place to spend some downtime. On our arrival we found a tray all set up with Devon cream tea and scones - a lovely touch from our hosts! Fresh eggs from the farm chickens were another fab addition. Three Gates Farm is well located to visit the National Trust Knightshayes, the Exmoor National Park, stunning for walks or even just a drive through. We hiked along the Valley of the Rocks starting in Lynton and stopped off at Lynmouth and Porlock Weir, which are very pretty with fantastic coastal views. We also drove down to the south coast Salcombe and Thurslestone and visited the famous farm shop Darts Farm, fabulous for stocking up on great fresh local produce. There are some great pubs and restaurants in close driving distance, our favourites for dinner were the Rock Inn, Cadeleigh Arms, the Swan, Ginger Peanut & Woods. More...

There is absolutely no question that Peter Mundy is the best wedding caterer Ive ever come across. Peter managed our wedding a week ago and literally every single guest commented that the food was the best catered event they had ever been to. Im so pleased I picked Peter Mundy and can guarantee that if you do, you will have an absolutely amazing meal (or multiple meals) with him managing your food. The food was out of this world, the canapes delicious, the beef was tender enough to be cut with a butter knife, the accompaniments (sp) were excellent and perfectly seasoned, the dessert was amazing and the hog roast was the most impressive hog roast Ive ever seen (and Im a fan of hog roasts)!!! Enough about the food, suffice to say that it really was the best wedding food Ive ever seen/tasted!The staff were super friendly and helpful, Bryony is well organised and great at organising events, taking care of every possible detail. Everything was so flexible and personalised I cant imagine a better service, with everybody being proactive and friendly. If you pay a small premium for Peter Mundy over other caterers, I cant begin to describe how well spent this premium is. Most of the time other caterers will add on extra charges for all sorts of things, so often it isnt actually any more expensive. You will be blown away by the quality and care that goes into every part of an event where Peter Mundy is your caterer. VERY thoroughly recommended from me, just pick Peter and spend your time thinking about other things, best decision ever!! More...

We booked The Smithy for six adults and a baby, with a couple of friends and their baby next door in Nuthatch. Originally there to be close to a wedding in Cove we stayed on for the week and had a really lovely time. The Smithy is well equipped and comfortable and we enjoyed evenings and meals outside in the private garden (with the cows in the field next door coming to oversee our antics, much to the delight of the baby). Fabulous view over the hills. Although I think the other cottages were also occupied while we were there everything seemed very peaceful. The swimming pool was larger than anticipated and lovely to come back to after a busy day out. About an hour's drive from beaches to the south, west and north so lots of opportunity for day trips, including Dartmoor and Exmoor. An excellent choice if you have young children - with well equipped playground and room for them to run around. Washing machine and dryer available on an honour system @ £1 each was handy. We found everything very well organised and cared for with plenty of parking. Would also be ideal for large family gatherings or groups of friends wanting to stay at the same place while having their own cottage. You do really need a car but this is a lovely part of Devon with lots to explore. More...
