At Petals and Pixels, we are a husband-and-wife team doing two things, flowers and photography, predominantly for weddings. The majority of the cut flowers come straight from our own smallholding and nearby farm in the Scottish Borders, and allow us to provide fresh and gorgeous selections that are in season and grown locally.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Some say it is the 3 C's - confidence, communication and collaboration, others say it is the 3 L's - luck, luck and luck. However with £1,000's of equipment, training, experience and general understanding of how a shot should look like - it is all about being in the right place, with the right equipment and making everything look so special.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
There are so many - but making sure that you will get a designated person you can liaise with on the day and an itinerary is a good start.
What do you love most about your job?
Getting that shot. The one that you were not expecting - but tells you everything about a couple, an event or the day itself. And the fact that not one day is the same and that no wedding is the same as the last one.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After 20 years of working in partnership - it was decided that we had a unique selling point that married into our own understanding of "grow local" and "buy local" - so that we put together the two services of growing from seed our own cut flowers and providing full professional wedding photography.
Why should our clients choose you?
Hopefully they will buy into our philosophy of using local services, but even if this is not the case, because we offer excellent customer service on two fronts, flowers (petals) and photographs (pixels).
