I have to say that Pet U Cation has been a lifesaver for my dog Phil. Yes this is that Phil from BARCS. We adopted him in December and after a very rough and traumatic first couple months with Phil, the professionals at Pet U Cation have really helped me with Phil. Their gentle training techniques and their capability of explaining and educating me on how to teach Phil and how to understand what Phil is going through have helped tremendously. I a truly appreciative of them. Phil enjoys and looks forward to going to OSR and he ls tired and happy when I pick him up at the end of the day! That is what matters most! I will continue to bring Phil and attend the training. It is helping both of us have a more meaningful and less stressful relationship. More...

At the recommendation of the Rescue organization after a bad experience with another dog trainer, we took our dog Buckie to PuC for an evaluation. We were thrilled to see the level of skill and consideration by the team there and have seen a tremendous improvement in the fear-based aggression and barking our dog exhibited when we adopted him. They truly understand dog dynamics and do an incredible job in working with dogs who need a lot of care and rehabilitation. We are so happy our dog and our family is getting the instruction and recommendations we need to have a happy life together. Plus, they post videos and photos of the dogs and their progress. They are the best!! More...

This place has been a godsend to our little Buckie. After a terrible experience with a different trainer, we didn’t know how to help the fear-based barking and aggression our adopted boy exhibited to the outside world. Thankfully, the team at Pet-u-Cation knew just how to help Buckie and us. We love the structure he gets during his time there and love getting to see his progress through posted photos and videos. They’ve built such a supportive community for dogs and their families who are just like us. Our neighbors are even impressed with the progress he is making as they see him out regularly for walks. It’s a bit of a trek for us, but it has been well worth the investment for our family. More...

We are so pleased with the services that Pet-U-Cation offers. We took our very energetic 10 month old pittie to increase his socialization and work on his manners when playing with other dogs. We have seen improvements already and he really loves going to "school", as we call it. They clearly spend a lot of individualized time with all the dogs and work with them according to their strengths and weaknesses. Plus, they post live videos and pix of the dogs on the private FB group, which is pretty great! More...

We adopted Brink from BARCS in September of 2017. We joined Petucation in February of 2018 after being asked not to return from another company’s basic obedient class. While that experience was pretty embarrassing, I am glad it lead us to Petucation. Brink is a two year old Pit mix who came to us with severe anxiety issues. Behaviors included separation anxiety from anyone (even strangers) leaving him, reactivity towards other animals, being a frustrated greeter, and lack of basic obedient skills. Throughout the past year with On-Site Rehab (OSR) and board and train sessions, Brink has shown improvement in all areas. Savannah and the rest of the team have put in a lot of work with him and it shows. He no longer has accidents in the crate when we leave, as opposed to soiled torn-up blankets. He knows sit, place, and come like a pro!. He even is able to be in a room full of dogs and not put on such a whining or screaming production. We originally thought all of this behavior was due to lack of training and him being so young. However, after Savannah’s evaluation, she realized it was due to anxiety. The best tool Petucation has given us is the ability to understand Brink more. We learned that it may not always be Brink ignoring us, but more of a mental obstacle as well. Also, we got a little training too! If you feel frustrated, hopeless, embarrassed, or need more confidence in handling, definitely give Petucation a chance. More...

PetUCation is awesome! We take our 2 year old golden retriever there for daycare and he loves it - almost as much as we love when he comes home exhausted! It's not just your dog sitting in crate, going outside every now and then - they really work with him on things like impulse control and obedience, and it's reflected at home and on walks. Savannah, Ally, and the staff seem to really care for the dogs - they're the best! More...

We love PuC! They take the time to really understand your dogs and what their needs are. When we adopted a new pup who had some socialization issues, we were completely lost and had no idea where we could take him. We were so happy to find Pet-u-Cation! Right away they helped us see the situation through the eyes of our pup so we could learn to help him, rather than be frustrated. They provide a safe environment to ease into socialization. We trust the trainers there to keep him safe and have seen so much progress in a short amount of time! Our reactive pup is learning to trust other dogs and greet them. We love seeing pics and videos of our dogs on their fb page! Thank you PuC! More...

We love PuC and are so grateful we found them! We rescued a 1 year old cocker spaniel, Charlie, knowing he had some issues with other dogs but were totally lost on what to do about it! He is also young so knew he needed to get out and about. When you live in Baltimore city, you encounter dogs every time you leave the house plus we have another dog at home. Right away, PuC helped us understand life through our pups eyes and how he may be feeling! After only a few on site rehab sessions we noticed a huge difference in Charlie’s behavior! Previously if he saw a dog across the park, he would start to bark, lunge and growl and now we can walk past dogs without a reaction. He’s still working on greeting and meeting new dogs but at PuC he has the chance to do this with amazing control dogs and in a safe environment with the staff there. I’m a very cautious dog mom but trusted the PuC staff right away with Charlie and we bring our other dog there now too. His relationship with our other dog has also changed so much for the better! They are very responsive and share videos and updates on their fb page. PuC is the perfect place for any dog that needs a little extra TLC or training! They have exceeded our expectations! More...

I am so lucky I was referred to Pet-U-Cation, and cannot thank Savannah and the trainers enough for what they do! They are the absolute best, and know how to work with dogs and their individual issues. We rescued a cattle dog who had stranger danger and was reactive towards new people. On-site Rehab made a new dog out of her, and other training classes have help us reinforce heeling, recall, and leash manners. All the trainers treat the dogs as one of their own. Josie comes home tired and mentally stimulated from daycare. If you have any training issue or reactivity issue, Savannah and her crew will work with you and your dog to figure it out. More...

I rescued my girl, Ginny Mae a little more than a year ago. I started at PUC with some socialization and then an obedience class. She currently attends daycare when I am working and comes home totally exhausted... which is just what I need after a 13 hour shift. She continues her training at daycare, and is currently learning to work as a control dog. PUC enables me to work without worry, as I have seen the way the trainers care for their animals. They treat them as if they were their own. The daily videos on the fb page allow me to see Ginny throughout the day. I can't imagine her going anywhere else, and I am sui grateful to them for the girl she has become! If you are searching for a place for your fur baby, check them out. You will not be disappointed! PetUCation is truly a special place, and we are SO thankful we found it. Prior to moving to the area(ish), we had done some critical obedience training after rescuing our pup, but he still had a long way to go and we wanted to continue working on his skills and specifically reactivity. Kona is very barrier reactive and sometimes leash reactive (and scary looking when he does), and lacks in some social skills though he is a big mushy sweetheart when he is comfortable. When I discovered PUC, I knew this would be the perfect place for Kona: training and daycare in one. We had been trying to work on his reactivity and socialization for awhile, but finding the proper situations was proving difficult; PUC is setup to help dogs like that succeed in safe situations. We started with the On Site Rehab training, and are progressing to daycare. Our past trainers have focused on teaching the humans how to act, but PUC takes it a step further in helping your pup to learn how to make good decisions and be comfortable. We love that PUC takes in some of the more challenging dogs and works with them in a structured social setting, which is not common. I wish we lived closer so we could go more often and participate in some of the other classes offered, but it is absolutely worth the trek. The trainers are amazing - they take the time to know your dog and use techniques that work for them and go at their pace. Having a larger reactive dog is hard, but we are SO happy with all the progress Kona has been making - he is so much better and confident/calm in public, he has made more progress in just a couple months than in the year we've had him before. We also love that he is able to make buddies and be part of a pack. He has even improved immensely with his intact aggression, which is something we had chalked up to never being able to do. PUC is absolutely worth the investment for you and your pup, good training is so important for a confident and happy life for both. Great trainers, great community. More...

I started bringing my reactive dog Gus to PuC a few months ago, starting with On Site Rehab/Daycare, which has shown great changes in him in a very short period of time. Improvements in his behavior and reaction to other dogs grow stronger every week. Nervously, I signed us up for their Intermediate Obedience course, not being totally sure that we could manage being in a class setting without a total meltdown. He surprised me from class one by not only keeping his cool, but actually making huge leaps in his abilities. We still have work to do, but the confidence he has gained through the class and his days at daycare is beyond measure. Class one I brought a timid dog that just wanted to hide behind my legs. We had our last class last night and he, while still on the timid side, rocked through all the challenges presented to him. I couldn't be happier or more proud and I'm so thankful to have found PuC and the community of people that come along with attending. I'm looking forward to more positive changes and attending more classes. Thank you all for what you do! More...

One of my boxers is dog reactive and since we started taking her to petucation she has made amazing progress. We have been bringing Reyna to Petucation for 2 years now and the improvement we have seen in her is astounding. The OSR program at Pet-U-Cation has done wonders for my dog! He was afraid of everything, including strangers, and very reactive on leash. The time he spends at the center socializing with people and dogs is helping build his confidence and improve his reactivity. He loves going to "school" and adores all his "teachers"! I am very pleased with how Pet-U-Cation cared for our dog, Sweet Pea, who attended OSR for the first time today. I feel at ease knowing that my dog is closely supervised throughout the day and that all her needs are met. She attended other daycare facilities before, but with so many dogs and so few staff members, I didn't feel 100% sure that she was being engaged and monitored. She was very sad to leave her large network of dog friends at those other places when we moved back to Bmore this year. But I do feel confident that she will make new besties at Pet U Cation and it will be much more fun and most importantly SAFE! More...

I'm so glad I found Pet-U-Cation for the pup and I. Nala started with the Puppy Development progam and continued onto Daycare to keep up the with her socialization and basic obedience. She loves going to the center and usually cannot contain her excitement upon arrival. Right, ladies? With those two experiences being a success, I decided to go forth with Leash Lessons. Wow! What an improvement in her leash manners! We both learned a lot from that class, thanks to Alma, Savannah, and Evan! Nala has made great strides and continues to improve daily, all thanks to this amazing team! Next up, ATT! More...

I received advice from Pet-U-Cation, specifically Alma, regarding a small dog named Abby. She was displaying aggression issues toward just one of my other pets. After bringing him home after a vet visit, she was attacking him constantly. So much so, I considered rehoming her - and had even reached out to a few individuals about it. I was heart broken at the thought but felt I had no other solution. I took her to "obedience" training at our local Petsmart but it didn't help. A quick conversation with Alma and what felt like a "too simple" solution - and I am happy to say that Abby Grace is still a member of my family. Alma gave me the tools to handle the situation and I still use them to this day - I believe it's been 2 years now. Thank you, Alma! More...

When we adopted Amelia from BARCS in Sept 2011, we knew we had found a good, smart dog with a big heart and no shortage of baggage. Adoring and enthusiastic but a little insecure and in need of consistent, patient leadership, we initially mistook some of Amelia's on-leash reactivity for aggression in the proximity of other dogs. At the sight of nearly any dog at seemingly any range, Amelia would become incredibly vocal and completely oblivious to her well-intentioned but and flustered owners. We started working with Alma from Pet-U-Cation in hopes of primarily addressing her on-leash reactivity, but we quickly learned of how much our pup and ourselves were capable.

Alma helped us recognize and respond to more Amelia's subtle body language, completely re-boot her confidence outside on-leash, hone her focus and intelligence with games and drills, all the while building our confidence as leaders. These skills were reinforced at "Pack Walks" and "Socialization Class" in Patterson Park (led by Savannah, Alma and the Pet-U-Cation crew), where Amelia had the opportunity to drill and walk with other dogs of all sizes, shapes, and temperaments. To see the progress was beyond rewarding, and Alma, Savannah, and Pet-U-Cation continue to be a resource for us. If our dog's burgeoning vocabulary can serve as testimonial, it is worth mentioning that "Pack Walk" and "Auntie Alma" are now magic phrases in our household. Only 1 year after we brought our BARCS alumna home, we challenged Amelia (and ourselves) to become an American Kennel Club Good Canine Citizen, which involved a several-week course and a veritable doggy-gauntlet of social and obedience drills. Amelia passed with flying colors, impressing even the most incredulous parties (her owners). We credit Alma's and Savannah's guidance, accessibility, and flexibility with not only Amelia's incredible progress to a wonderful pet and solid ambassador for her breed, but our progress as patient, consistent, happy dog owners. Thank you Pet-U-Cation!

I just wanted to thank the staff at Pet-u-cation for making my pup feel so comfortable and loved. After he was attacked by 2 dogs in the park one day, he was extremely reactive towards all dogs and just an all around nervous wreck. Somedays I felt almost hopeless. This is when I reached out to Savannah at Pet-u-Cation and signed up for the OSR program. It was amazing to see the change in his all around behavior almost immediately. (Added bonus is how tired he is at the end of the day) Its great to be able to enjoy our walks once again.(The trainers also taught him "loose leash" walking and a few other tricks...Love the constant video/ picture updates throughout the day as well!- My only regret is I wish I had done it sooner! PUC is such a wonderful training facility! The trainers make you feel so comfortable and there truly are "no stupid questions!" My male dog attends daycare and I have an "anxious" female 1.5 year old that attends on-site rehab and it's been wonderful! She's learned so much from rehab, as have I! Learning how to "slow" her down so she can make good choices has been so rewarding! Every day there's progress! We also completed the "Advocacy through Training" course and it was such a great experience. I learned so much. My dogs love PUC! And so do I!! I'm so excited for our future PUC learning adventures! I am so glad we found Pet-U-Cation (PUC) by way of our neighborhood FB page sometime in October 2016! PUC has been an absolute blessing in our lives (all 3 pups and people too)! We started off with a series of On-Site-Rehabilitation (OSR) for our dog, Latte because we were at our wit’s end due to her constant leash reactivity and our other dog trainer suggested the prong collar but even this tool didn’t quite work! OSR at PUC helped with some behavior modification and then we enrolled her in regular daycare sessions where she is constantly learning to be a more social dog and to make right choices.

Our second dog Lea was attending a different daycare and dog training facility before PUC BUT it seems that she was never really comfortable there because her tail was always tucked whenever we view the videos or see her in posted pics! PUC is great at making my puppy Lea feel comfy. They work at her pace and her comfort zone. They don't make her socialize with a bunch of dogs that she may not be comfy with! As such, Lea is always happy and excited to come to daycare or training in this facility! This is also evidenced in the videos and pics that the warm and caring PUC folks post!

My third dog Marcel is a control dog at PUC and seems to love his job/role very much! He too enjoys attending PUC! The trainers and caregivers at PUC work on my dogs’ weaknesses and at the same time capitalize on their strengths! As an educator (of K-20), I can firmly say that what they do with my dogs is the epitome of differentiated and/or individualized instruction to help my dogs be successful at being good (if not great) dogs! Additionally, the PUC trainers and staff are extremely caring to both dogs and people. I highly recommend Pet-U-Cation Training & Rehabilitation without any reservation.

Pet-u-Cation has done so much for our dog, Buko. He is a large rescue, and my partner and I wanted a daycare that he could thrive in. We live in Baltimore City but weren't able to find a daycare in the city that we felt would set him up for success. I've heard many people say that their dogs pick up bad habits at daycare, but PuC does the opposite! Your dog is in a controlled environment and is introduced to other, trusted, dogs in a safe manner and at a gradual rate. The trainers know all the dogs' needs and problem areas, and are well equipped to help them get through those issues, including though a rehab program. Using cages is part of what makes this control possible, and even then, the dogs are in the same room as everything else (at the current facility). There's not another dog day care around of its kind, and the drive to Catonsville is well worth it. I've recommended them to multiple friends and have made new friends through their community. We evaluated other dog training services in the area but we ultimately chose Pet-U-Cation. We selected the Advocacy Through Training (ATT) class because our dog was not well-behaved on his leash. He would become excited and pull persistently making walks frustrating for all. Prior to attending the class, we tried different leashes and harnesses but none yielded the result we desired. In addition to loose-leash walking, we also wanted to work on him greeting new people calmy, which has been a struggle for our pup.

Prior to the class, we had a phone consultation with the main instructor, Alma. It was immediately evident that she had done her homework and read our application/profile to fully understand our needs, whose diligence translated to the rest of her staff. This customized approach was so appreciated; none of the other training services we evaluated took this level of care.

As we attended ATT, we quickly learned that the class was just as beneficial for us as it was for our dog. As an owner, we needed to thoughtfully manage interactions and engage our dog’s “thinking brain,” allowing him the opportunity for success. We were taught how to identify and interpret our dog’s body language. We learned proper loose-leash walking techniques and how to correct our companion effectively. Additionally, we were provided with multiple techniques to help calm and focus our dog. All of these combined skills allow us to position our K-9 for successful, positive interactions. Our dog was exceptionally receptive to the techniques used and he learned, very quickly, how to comply with our directions.

Thanks to what we learned, we are now able to have relaxing, low-stress walks with our pup; a direct result of the Pet-U-Cation training. Our family would recommend this class to anyone that wants to better understand, respond to, and interact with their K-9 companion.

Pet-U-Cation is the best! They so clearly understand our shy girl, Lola, and have done so much work to help her feel comfortable at daycare and in wellness class. Both Alma and Savannah are excellent dog advocates and are so quick and thoughtful in replying to our questions. We'd tried a number of trainers and methods to help Lola with her fear reactivity, but PUC was the first place we started seeing consistent positive changes. They really approached her behavior understanding it came from a place of fear and that made all the difference. Plus, we are now part of a supportive and robust network of other dog owners, which has been unique, helpful, and reassuring. Thank you, PUC!! More...

Our tiny rescue mutt Trico has a lot of fear aggression, leash reactivity, and anxiety issues. We felt like we had tried everything we could by ourselves before finally signing up for a private in-home session with Alma, some OST, and then the basic Obedience course. A lot of their standard methods weren’t as effective with Trico, she panics with too much hands-on pressure or restraint, but Sarah and Alma helped us figure out what works best with her, and how to alter our own behavior and tactics to be more effective. We’re still working hard, she’s got a long way to go, but we have definitely seen more improvement since getting their assistance than just struggling on our own! She’s getting braver and smarter each session. More...

Pet-U-Cation has been a huge help with my pup. She was adopted out of BARCS and brought back twice before I found and adopted her, and she's been terrified of people and one of the most nervous dogs I've encountered since I met her. This place has really helped her come out of her shell and build her confidence well. She absolutely loves daycare days, and any time I ask her if she wants to go she's immediately glued to my hip, tail wagging making sure I don't forget to bring her.

The ATT training class was great too. Helpful for her to be around a group of dogs and people, and to learn how to calm herself down (and realize she's not actually going to die - hah!). Highly recommended, and I continue to take my dog here on a regular basis!

Review Update (01-22-2016): My dog, Yogi, does not need to attend PuC's On-Site Rehabilition (OSR) service for any behavior issues. So instead, he goes to OSR as a daycare client; & I can honestly say that bringing Yogi to OSR/Daycare has helped TREMENDOUSLY with his separation anxiety at home. Since adopting him 2 years ago; Yogi has escaped &/or destroyed 3 crates, an extra tall pet gate, & a hollow core bedroom door. Plus, potty accidents were guaranteed to happen everytime I left him home. Over the past few weeks, I have had to leave him home alone a TON more than usual, much longer than usual, & without doing our usual routine before leaving him. Surprisingly, he did FABULOUSLY well every single time that he was left home alone! Each time, he was left uncrated & secured in my bedroom. Each & every time, there were no potty accidents, nothing was destroyed, & no escape attempts were made. PuC's OSR/Daycare has definitely helped him be "okay" with being alone without me. THANK YOU!! for adding a beneficial, productive, & safe Daycare service to PuC's offerings!!! =========================== =========================== My Original Review (04-18-2015) PuC is a top notch, comprehensive behavior & training company in Baltimore area. They offer a complete array of services that address any & all needs that a dog owner would need; such as, evaluation, obedience, socialization, & behavior modification. The trainers are very experienced, knowledgeable, thorough, helpful, & sincere. Since finding PuC; I have enrolled my personal dog, Yogi, & my fosters into many of their services. They tailor their techniques to fit each dog that they work with. By doing so, there is no dog or behavior too difficult for them to work with. Their heart is for the dogs, the rescue community, and for helping us dog owners/caregivers. So much so, that PuC has created a social network community, for us dog owners to be able to share with, assist, ask advice from, & setup training practices with each other. When I became a PuC client, I was surprised to learn that this large community of like minded people & dog owners was available to me. The PuC community has definitely been the icing on the cake for me. PuC's results with the dogs are truly the proof of their quality & the measure of their success. More...

Petucation has made my dog's life infinitely better. My dog has a lot of anxiety and has had to undergo an extensive amount of training. They have been there every step of the way and always have a good suggestion for his next train in step. He now has dog and people friends and is learning how to be a real dog. More...
