Best vets around. Super friendly!

We brought our chihuahua in for what was a dark chocolate raisin detoxification. Our pup had to stay in ICU. While super scary, we were blown away by the treatment and care of the vet techs, staff, and doctor. They were so incredibly kind and knowledgeable with all of our questions. We went in at 4am and everyone was happy and polite and we also were in at 8pm and we had the same polite attentive service. They saved our dog’s life. They were kind enough to answer any and all of our questions, they had an ICU nurse available 24/7 for any questions and updates we wanted, and we were also able to visit our pup whenever we wanted. We saw the techs handle other pups with genuine car, walking the pups in ICU outside in the sunshine, giving them blankets, etc. I am so beyond grateful for this Vet and I immediately moved my pup to be a full time patient of theirs. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital. Big bonus that they are an ER hospital too and 24/7. More...

love Dr. Kubas ... best vet in CT hands down!!!! My dogs love her too. The staff here in Windsor are wonderful, and the emergency staff in West Hartford have been great as well.

Doesn't seem like most people understand how veterinary care works. Everyone wants to walk in and be helped immediately with an appointment or not, they expect the workers to be empathic and kind 100 percent of the time which is so hard working with animals who are sick or dying, and they expect the care to be Walmart cheap, yet high quality. It's like some Wizard of Oz daydream people go in having then flip out when it's a regular real life experience. I also think most people have preconceived notions about animals being in cages or their loved ones being cared for when they can't watch, or veterinary care in general, that is based on movie drama and not real life as well. I've never worked with anyone who didn't adore animals and have worked at several kennels and hospitals as well as farms. The pay is low and people do it because they love it 100% of the time. But it's hard and you don't get compensated well and normal humans have normal human feelings that happen. I wish Veterinary care were seen for how it really is and not some ripoff or torture or abuse or whatever it is that bad reviewers see when they expect a three minute wait, a flawless only-feels-happy careperson, and a bill for $10 or less when they are leaving. Or maybe they can read a book or two on Veterinary care to open their eyes to how complex it can be. Or maybe they are just always negative and it's to be expected. More...

Dr Hopkinson "Hoppy" is thorough, very caring, and will even call to check on how your dog is doing after the appointment. He is tireless, very knowledgeable, and will take the time to answer all your questions. 7 years ago, I brought in my new dog, that seemed ok but turned out to have advanced pneumonia - it looked grim, but after emergency hospitalization, and over the course of many months, my puppy survived and has since thrived (with permanent lung scarring) under the care of CT Vet Center. Staff are hardworking, and many thank-you cards from clients on the bulletin board testify how well these people take care of people's pets. This place does both regular office visits and preventative care, as well as emergency and Surgical care. It's a very popular place, so very busy. Yes, sometimes I do have to wait a while, but I don't mind because I know that they're caring for animals that are sicker than my pet that came in unexpectedly, and I know that when my turn comes, they will take as much time as needed for care and to explain everything to me.Staff are hard-working, and when they're not overloaded, many will say hi to my pet to make him feel comfortable. As per everywhere, hospitalization and surgery is expensive, including costs for anaesthetic, x-rays, additional Consulting doctors, Etc. I have NEVER had the impression that this facility is focused on making money! I don't recall being asked to prepay for any regular service, maybe once I had to pay a portion of the cost 4 required surgery, but this didn't cause a delay in them caring for my dog, because at the same time as I was doing paperwork they were prepping the ER. (maybe people who come in who aren't regular clients are asked to prepay, if they need emergency care?) I would strongly recommend Dr Hopkinson, and Connecticut Veterinary Center!!! More...

great vet. Old building but the Doctors, and staff are great in this place. Most people who gave negative reviews here are not realistic on their expectations, and don't want to pay for the quality ER pet care service they receive. I am coming here for years with my pets. the staff, veterinarians are compassionate, they provided me cost estimates for every procedure prior to, and requested my consent before doing any procedures. I have pet insurance, to pay for my unexpected ER visits and care credit to help in emergency situation. More...

Dr Hopps is the best . Owning a pet is expensive no matter where you go. But I would not want to change. I have had my pup for 4 yrs now, and the one before her 15yrs. Dr Hopps is the only one that sees my animals including a bunny we have.We people should be so lucky to have a doctor with so much love for his patients ♡ More...

The only reason I'm writing this review is because i saw there were so many negative ones, and I don't think they're deserved. What people need to understand is that this vet costs more because they are a 24 hour emergency service. The staff was extremely polite and caring to me, my family and my cat. Every single staff member there expressed that they were sorry for our loss after having to put my cat down. The doctor did a great job diagnosing my cat and making him comfortable. The procedure that my cat would have needed was expensive because it just is an expensive procedure not because they have outrageous prices here. Ultimately it was kinder to my cat to put him down, and the vet made sure that choice was as comfortable as possible for all of us. They also sent us a card which everyone at their office signed for our cat, which was a really sweet extra step to do. The only thing I would dock a star for was that they didn't bake my cat's paw print for us and I had to do it myself, but I think that could have been because i went to pick it up early. I take my pets to a different vet for regular care. But on a Sunday in an emergency, I would recommend this veterinary service to anyone. They're just trying to do their job, and sometimes they have to give bad news and high prices. That just comes with the territory unfortunately. Everything else was a very positive experience despite the nature of our visit. More...
