I have been trained by Jeff (Performance 5 Fitness) for over ten years now. I have followed him to another location strictly because he is so great and so knowledgeable - he continually takes courses to upgrade his knowledge so that you receive the best information on specific training for you! . He follows my food logs, helps me with weight loss, and tailors my training specifically for me (I have torn meniscus in both knees). Jeff brings so much support and extra encouragement with his personal training. When I was badly injured in a car accident I didn't know what to do physically or mentally and once I started training with Jeff I began to heal faster then I thought possible and became even stronger then I have ever been. I was able to bench press a new record and increase my self confidence. I enjoyed my training sessions at the gym but also felt that I had so much support out of the gym with what to eat and helping me stay accountable. I met Jeff when he was training at a gym I used to work out at. He wasn’t my trainer there but was involved in hiking, cycling, and running events that I participated in. I reconnected with him at BodyCo nearly 3 years ago. We discussed my goals, likes and dislikes and came up with a method of training and nutrition that suits my lifestyle. I love it. I used to train so I could compete at high levels. Now I train because I love it and it makes my life so much more comfortable. We’ve rehabbed shoulder and knee injuries gradually but effectively and my strength has increased tremendously. When following Jeff’s friendly nutrition guidelines I keep my weight and body fat under control. Training sessions are fun and productive and Jeff really cares about me and all his other clients. I began training with Jeff about six months ago on a casual basis, once or twice a week. My father had been training with Jeff and recommended that I came by for a session to try it out. 20 minutes in I felt like I couldn't keep going, but Jeff encouraged me to continue. I was sore as heck the next day, but also excited to go back. In the short amount of time I have been training with Jeff I have noticed serious improvements in my strength and overall physique. The hour long sessions now seem to blast by in no time! Jeff's in depth knowledge of the human body allows him to push me to accomplish things in the gym I wouldn't be able to myself, but without making it feel like a bootcamp. It has also been great working out alongside my father, 35 years my senior, and seeing him lift heavier weights than me! Jeff easily handles two clients at once, adding a level of playful competition to the workout, and one-on-one sessions are equally intense yet enjoyable. I spent the last 7-8 years of my life working like a dog. Being an immigrant, providing for family, trying to get a settled life and giving back to the family has literally been all what I have done, besides opening two businesses. Last 3 years did a number on me like no other though. Going through the most difficult and the worst time in my life, when nothing is going right and everything is falling apart, I knew I needed professional help. You might think I'm extrovert but I'm quite introvert and I don't deeply connect with people easily. More so I never liked the Gym environment because I never met the right people. I always struggled with my body image because I was always bullied for it (even when I was really fit) and so I don't like anyone pushing me around because I am quite hard on myself already, more than I need to mostly. I needed somebody who gave me gentle guidance and yet at the same time gives me positive encouragement to keep going. Working with Jeff in just 2-3 days I could feel the change in me that I so desparately needed.Within the first week itself, I lost close to 6lbs, gained 1% muscle and lost 2% body fat. On top of it all, I was still eating everything I wanted to! I did Yoga and swimming all my life but in the last 3-4 years, life just became too much to handle. To the point that I could feel, beside the enormous weight gain and not recognizing myself in the mirror - hating the image I saw looking back at me and crying my eyes out, I could now feel my mental health deteriorating.Jeff has been so amazing beyond words and just within my first week with him, I have had a much bigger goal now that I came for initially. I wanted Jeff to make me stronger physically since the job and weight gain had completely wore my body off. I have a lot of back issues and Jeff has been unbelievable in keeping that in mind and yet making me work for it. I sleep better and I feel more powerful each day. I can't wait to reach my goal. For the first time in my life, I will be EXACTLY who I always wanted to be and I wouldn't have to keep covering my body in baggy clothes and feeling ashamed of it. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff for a body comp analysis and an initial training session. The wealth of information I gained from Jeff today will definitely help me in my journey to better health. By taking the time to talk me through my challenges in losing weight, he was able to identify what's getting in the way of my success and gave me pointers on what I can do right now to overcome them. I’ve been training with Jeff since September of 2016. I first came in with a multitude of injuries, with no confidence in my body or my strength. I had been seeing trainers, chiropractors, and physiotherapists for years with no success. I was starting to give up on my body and it’s capabilities. When Jeff and I first started training, I’d lift 5 lbs. dumbbells and my neck would start hurting. It took months of patience to get to where I am today. He’s completely transformed my body from being injury-prone and underweight to being injury-free and at a healthy weight. My relationship with my body has completely transformed!After every session Jeff checks in on me with a text message or a phone call to see how my body is feeling. I can tell he truly cares about my health and well-being. He isn’t a personal trainer to make money, he’s a personal trainer because he loves interacting with people and transforming their lives through a full body transformation. Not only is Jeff a good personal trainer, but he also became one of my closest friends as a result of us training with each other and getting to know one another. Every time I bring up Jeff to someone, they have nothing but good things to say about him. Jeff, you’ve successfully transformed my body and made me have confidence in myself again. I've been going to Jeff with my sister for the last 6 months and all I can say is that Jeff is a 5 star personal trainer. He takes the time to listen to your needs and cater the sessions to what you are looking for . Since going to him, I have been more aware of my fitness and all of his techniques are easy for you to take home and apply it yourself. He's not only there for that hour. Jeff Iwanaka is the best personal trainer I have the good fortune of knowing
in my 30 years as a fitness facilitator. Since our first meeting I realized his kind wise soul knows more about motivation, strength conditioning, nutrition and lifestyle needed to see all his loyal clients succeed. His soft voice, warm personality and great sense of humour makes him a joy to be with. Jeff has all the education needed and updates himself continually to keep you in the know. Jeff is a very gifted and diversified personal trainer. If your goal is to lose weight, improve fitness, rehab from an injury, increase strength or just improve your overall health he can help. There are a lot of trainers that can help you achieve goals in the short term however Jeff not only will help you do that but will incorporate lifestyle changes so that the results are maintained. I have been working with Jeff for about 5 months now and I have had an amazing experience. He has educated me on the exercises that are best suited for my body, how to maintain the correct posture while working out and how to make healthy eating choices. We work closely with clients by coaching them every step of the way on their health and fitness journey. We first meet up with a client to get to know them better by discussing their specific goals. Once we have clear goals, we discuss a very thorough game plan on how help them.
We offer an around the clock coaching & accountability so clients do not feel alone when working towards their health and fitness goals.

Performance 5 Fitness believes in 5 key areas when working with each client:

1. Goal setting / Mindset- We help clients set realistic goals, try new activities or events and help encourage each client's personal development and confidence.

2. Strength training and Bodybuilding- We educate clients on perfect technique and are very hands on. Our clients improve their strength, physique and movement patterns without getting injured.

3. Nutrition - We provide accountability and coach clients on lifelong nutrition specific to their goals. We use myfitness pal as our platform to track our clients nutrition.

4. Cardiovascular health - We work with clients to improve their cardiovascular health and get our clients more active outside of the gym.

5. Body Composition - We track our clients progress by monthly body compositions and strive to get them the body they desire in a safe and healthy way.

The secret of getting the body of your dreams is to set very specific goals, have a deep purpose why you want to achieve your dream body and to have a professional coach mentor you, who has got themselves and many clients their dream body.

I love the satisfaction I get when clients achieve their health and fitness goals; (especially body and lifestyle transformations). I also love building great relationships with my clients and many of them become very close friends to me.

I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 17 years and still continue to love it!

After taking a year off personal training to see what else was out there, I decided that I needed to start my own personal training company and be my own boss. Having a toddler at home, I needed to be in control of my schedule and no longer could work for a gym. Best career decision of my life.
