My wife and I had to cancel our wedding ceremony due to reasons beyond our control. We rescheduled 3 times with our venue before they finally told us that they would not be hosting events for the foreseeable future. Stephen (pegasus DJ) was the only vendor that constantly caused complications when picking new dates. He would tell me a date was available, so I would confirm is was available with all other vendors, then call him back... low and behold he had already booked the date within 6 hours of our previous communication. Every communication I had with Stephen would include his expert opinion on how CoVid-19 would not be around long enough to cause more than a 2 week delay. He would just constantly try to control the conversation when it comes to planning, even when the only reason we were rescheduling was because the VENUE WAS CLOSED... not because we personally wanted to. When we made the call to cancel Stephen (pegasus DJ) was the only vendor to not refund our expenses. I told him I didn't mind if he needed to keep the security deposit (completely understandable), but it didn't feel right that he was going to keep the other $450 when he had preformed no services for us. We used Crystal Sound and Magic to do our photography, videography and DJ, at our beach wedding this summer. We decided to use Stephen and his wife based on the positive internet reviews and on a great phone conversation with him about his services. We were not disappointed. Our communication was great from the beginning. Whenever I had a question I called and Stephen was always helpful and had many good suggestions. He is a kind and funny person who is really just a pleasure to deal with. I felt that Stephen and Crystal went above and beyond what I expected. Our pictures and videos came out great and our guests loved the music. I will cherish my photos and videos forever! I booked Crystal sound and Magic to DJ my Destination wedding nearly on a complete whim. from the very start Steve was very responsive to my phone calls and emails. He nailed the playlists for all events of the wedding (ceremony/cocktail hour/ dinner/ reception). the day of my wedding Steve and his wife Crystal went above and beyond to make sure we really enjoyed the best day of our lives. He set up his rig on the beach, where our ceremony was held. Then he moved his equipment up many many stairs to make sure we could have music and mics for speeches during our dinner. He continued to exceed my expectations by setting up a killer light show on the beach. His wife Crystal was also exceedingly helpful. when she wasnt helping the DJ set up, she was first to ask how she could be of any help. She Stepped in during dinner and helped bus all the tables, and even assisted with the breakdown of the dinner room. when the party got late and our hired bartender was relieved for the night, Crystal even stepped in as bartender while my Wife and entire wedding party continued to celebrate into the late evening. Never once did they ask what time they could pack up. they stayed all day and night without any extra fees. Stephen offered us an amazing deal when I told him how my (now husband) and I were struggling financially to be able to afford our wedding.
He gave us an unbelievable package including his services as our officiant, DJ, ceremony sound, and videography. He was very accommodating all the way through and always reachable by email or phone prior to the wedding.
The day of, he was the perfect officiant (we loved his personalized ceremony service just for us as well as his quirky humor) and that the service itself was short and sweet just how we wanted it to be. The ceremony music went off without a hitch (as far as I know anyway). For DJ services, he had an information sheet which he had us fill out that I think covered all the basics and all of those expectations were met.
My husband was a little disappointed in the dancing turnout - but I think that had to do with a combination of things including the bright light in the ballroom (wish we'd spent a little extra for mood lighting), and simply the crowd we had. I had provided via email a list of songs we and our guests had requested and bolded those that were most important to us and I am not sure that all of them got played (I wasn't always in the ballroom) but overall I think everyone had a great time.
I can't speak as to the quality of the videography since we haven't received it yet, but I'm very excited to. My only comment is that I wish we had known in advance of our wedding day that we would be asked to say something to each other while getting ready. Towards the end of our get-ready time, my bridesmaids and I were VERY behind on getting ready and getting our things together and it was incredibly hectic so I completely botched that moment when I could have said something memorable and sweet had I been able to prepare for it in advance (I'm a little nervous to see that). Husband and wife team that are easy to work with, very proffessional. Wife takes all the pics and video while hubby plays the tunes and the light show.
Only thing I suggest is that you print out an agenda if you want him to say certain things, the questionnaire didn't seem like enough. He was pretty quiet for a DJ. Also, would have liked pictures of each table while people were sitting or at least group pics but didn't get that.
Overall, venue turned out good, pictures and video are great and cannot beat the price!

Very easy to communicate with and responded to emails and phone calls immediately. We had out wedding on the beach and he made the effort to find a battery pack that would accommodate his equipment so he wouldn't have to use a noisy generator. He played all the songs exactly how we asked him. There was a small issue with a couple of the songs cutting out for short periods during the ceremony due to the battery pack having to supply power to several mics and speakers. Stephen is just one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We were so looking forward to him being the Dj at our event and unfortunately had a really bad communication problem with my mother. Long story short It was a seriously terrible mix up that bummed me and my fiancée out pretty badly. Because of the mix up we were unfortunately not able to have Stephen Dj our wedding :(. But he was very understanding of the entire situation and was even nice enough to reassure my mom that everything would be ok. We were both really sad because he was everything we were looking for in a Dj. He is extremely professional, very easy going, very fun guy. He has the exact personality that anyone could ever ask for in a Dj and boy does he know his music! We booked Stephen's services based upon the positive reviews on wedding wire. He communicated with me a few times before the big day, thought of details we never would have given attention to ourselves, and was very flexible. Our wedding took place on the beach at Emerald Isle and he offered up a microphone for our officiant and us that kept out the high wind noise. Stephen set up ceremony music on the beach prior to guests arriving, moved the music to the reception at the Islander in a very efficient transition. The music selections kept a large number of guests on the dance floor. He even agreed to stay longer when we had guests that were still on the dance floor after the predetermined end time. We found Crystal Sound and Magic on Wedding Wire. From the moment my mom inquired with Stephen, we knew he would do a great job at our wedding. He responded to our emails in a very prompt and timely manner, was willing to meet us for an in-person consultation after providing late night DJ services the night prior and showed up to our wedding very professional, yet incredibly fun. Stephen and Crystal saved the day for us! After a major problem, we had to find a DJ for my daughters wedding just a couple of weeks before the date. My son found CrystalMagic and when I called and left a message, my call was returned immediately, and the first words out of Stephen's mouth were, "don't panic". I had a good feeling right then, and that feeling was correct. He worked with me on price for what I would need, and walked me through every detail to insure my daughter would have the perfect day. Finding music triggers that the crowd enjoys. There are always songs the will get them moving everytime.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
Very laid back but adaptable. I can DJ a back yard beach party in flip flops or an elegant affair in black tie.
What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Composition. Even phones these days have fantastic cameras but they will never replace the eye of a professional that knows how to compose a photograph.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I generally like to get to know the client through a phone call and since every event is different, the questions vary, but typically I need to know the who what where and why.
What do you love most about your job?
The people I get to meet! My line of work is not the job where I'm ever going to make $1000000 doing it but it is fun!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I knew I could do it better! The only way to do that would be in control of how things are done rather than having to answer to somebody that I felt didn't know as much as I did or cared!
Why should our clients choose you?
We are no time limit service! What that means is you get us for the entire day at 1 low cost! Most DJs will perform for about 4 hours and then charge you a ridiculous amount for every hour over that! We don't look at our watches and we're there till it's over!
