There are not enough good things I could say about Paula Massoni Photography. My family is so in awe of her work, and we are so grateful for the special moments that she has captured for us. Amazing experience with Paula! I now use her to capture all my precious memories! She did my newborn photos and made my baby so relaxed that we were able to take so many stunning photos! She also did my maternity shoot and captured such beautiful photos of me and my husband - I get emotional when i look at them! Even my husband who hates his photo being taken, had a great time and loves the photos! She did our “fresh 48” photo shoot at hospital of our son - it was so great to have her there in the hospital room as she captured those first moments of us as a family so perfectly! I used Paula for my maternity pictures this past September, and could not be happier with choosing her to be the photographer. Leading up to the photo shoot she was very quick to respond to messages from me asking questions, and even accommodated several date changes due to the weather. I felt like she was very involved in caring throughout the process, and it was so refreshing because life was very stressful at the time. I felt comfortable with her, and once we finally met it was like I had already known her. The entire photo shoot went smoothly, and I felt she was very calm which helped keep us relaxed, especially my three-year-old son. She was very good with him and interacted in such a way that made it fun. I was pleasantly surprised by how accommodating she was to our wants and needs. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The most important element of a good photograph is the ability of the photo to communicate with the viewer. It should be able to tell a story through its composition, lighting, and most importantly its subject matter.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
It is important to get to know who they are and what they’re all about, what they’re looking for from you.
It is all about getting to know who they are, their personalities, and how we can plan a session that will capture that.
Questions like: Why they decided to have their portraits taken? Are there any must-have photos? Do they have a special location they’d like me to check out Are there any specific ways they’d like to display their photos? (albums, digital files, canvases, etc.)
This way I can plan a more meaningful session and jump start my comfort level with them and also get a heads up on any potential problems.
What do you love most about your job?
I love to be able to perpetuate magic moments in the life of my clients.
I am a people's person and enjoy the opportunity to get to know different people all the time, some of my clients became true friends and I am glad that I could participate in some of the most special moments of their life.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always been a photographer since young age but only as a hobby (a serious one though). Initially, entering into business didn’t cross my mind. I am an artist at heart, and for me, commercializing it didn’t really interest me. It stayed that way for a long time until after giving birth to my first child and hiring a photographer for my maternity and newborn session. I was so disappointed with the result that it propelled me to do it myself and after that some of my friends hired me to cover family, babies and work events. They encouraged me to start my own photography business. I took a leap of faith. After several years and lots of practice, courses, workshops and investment I feel like I made the right choice and couldn't be happier.
