I’ve always wanted to be in the musical theatre business and going to singing lessons with Paul has really helped me get closer and closer to achieve this dream. I’ve had singing lessons with him for around four years now and look forward to going and improving my skills every time. I recently had an audition for specialist musical theatre college and with his expertise I was able to secure a place. He is a fantastic teacher and an all round lovely person. More...

After moving up north last year I was on the hunt for a new singing teacher. I came across Paul’s website and was particularly impressed by the testimonials so I got in touch. I’ve been singing professionally for years and have been lucky enough to have had some brilliant teachers in my time, so I guess I’d say my standards are pretty high :) I knew Paul was the real deal immediately - he has a lovely manner combined with incredible knowledge and experience, yet I never sensed he had anything to prove. Every lesson leaves me smiling for days and my voice is working so well with such ease. Only thing I would say is he’s very in demand so booking way ahead is recommended! Thanks Paul! X More...

I first came to Paul in 2017, when I was having problems with my singing. I had just started doing solo gigs, and was having trouble getting my voice to last for an hour and a half, and felt like I was struggling with hitting higher registers. Paul understood my issues immediately, and was able to pinpoint quickly what I needed to work on. Even after the first lesson I was noticing a drastic difference in the longevity of my voice, and was already starting to sing better. 18 months down the line, and my voice is now immeasurably better. Not only am I comfortable singing for longer periods, but my voice has gotten more powerful, my range has improved, and I’ve discovered new ways of singing that I didn’t even know existed before! Thanks to Paul’s guidance, I’m now working full time as a performing musician, gigging a few times a week, something I never thought possible when I was struggling to sing for an hour!Paul is an exceptional teacher, with an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the voice and its workings. Each time I go for a lesson I come out and can’t believe the improvements I make even in that one hour. On top of all this, Paul is a great laugh and is really easy to get along with.Could not recommend him enough! More...

I started singing lessons with Paul in March 2018.  I already had a singing teacher, but I felt I was missing something as my objective was to be ready for musical theatre auditions in November and December 2018.  I started fortnightly lessons and made excellent progress, understanding more about technique and realising that I could sing contemporary as well as legit soprano which had been my preference.  Paul also organised two audition workshops which I attended.  The first workshop enabled me to practise my acting monologue and song in an audition-like environment with feedback and the second workshop focused on two contrasting audition songs with direct feedback on vocal technique and song choices.  The workshops were hard and startlingly realistic, but incredibly worthwhile.  Following my auditions in November and December 2018, I received offers from Bird College and Laine Theatre Arts.  I am also on the wait list at Performers College.  I have accepted the offer to attend Laine Theatre Arts and shall commence my professional training in September 2019.  I also received a third offer from AMDA in New York which I attended in August 2018 on their High School Conservatoire programme.  Throughout my journey so far, Paul has been hugely supportive.  As well as being a highly talented vocal coach, he is also a mentor and motivator.  He is also honest which is important as I work on my vocal strengths and weaknesses and develop techniques to improve.  Sometimes I have been unsure about the capabilities of my voice, but Paul has given me very clear direction which I have implemented very quickly and then demonstrated an immediate improvement.  Thanks to Paul’s tuition, I have achieved my objective of successfully auditioning for musical theatre college and I am working on further techniques that will put me in a strong position vocally when I start my professional training.I have no hesitation in recommending Paul. Paul is can-do coach. There is nothing that I’ve brought to a session that he’s been unable to help me with; singing, projection, performance and so on. Not only has Paul helped me grow my vocal range (beyond what others had told me was possible) but he has made me more confident in my craft, and more comfortable as a performer. One of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, I can’t recommend him enough - he’s my secret weapon! After 4 years of trying different vocal coaches, I finally landed upon Paul and have not looked back since. His lessons are professional yet relaxed and fun. When I started with Paul I was 14, extremely shy and lacking confidence, but he soon changed this with his friendly and enthusiastic approach. He introduced me to a wide range of genres that I’d never experienced before, which led to a keen interest in classical music. We began working on my classical vocal set up, and how to portray emotion through the songs. Paul has also helped me with the basics of Italian pronunciation, which were required for an audition at a local music school. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with Paul, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. More...

I could not recommend Paul enough. After developing a vocal injury 8 months ago, I honestly thought I'd never be back singing again. Not only did I lose my singing voice, I lost all the confidence I once thought I had. I didn't know what to do, where to go or who to go to, until I was recommended Paul. His friendly and relaxed atmosphere straight away made me feel at ease.

I've been to singing lessons since the age of 11 (I'm now 23) and the whole time I never realised that I wasn't singing correctly. Straight away Paul was able to recognise this and has taught me a completely different way of singing, which sounds crazy but it's true. Paul is unbelievably talented! He also recognised I have a slight problem with tension in my neck and shoulders, which was affecting my singing, and has since put me in contact with a great osteopath who is also helping with my recovery.

Every lesson is exciting, different and fresh. I look forward to each lesson and can't wait for the next. Every time I go I learn something new and I'm constantly learning things about myself and my voice which I never knew. He has been great with fitting me in and is very flexible with times!

Pauls knowledge and understanding of music and how the voice works is incredible. If something's not quite right or doesn't sound as it should, straight away Paul knows what the problem is and knows how to overcome it. That's what I love about him! He's amazing at what he does and his passion shines through every lesson. I could never have got past my vocal injury without Paul. Thankyou so much for bringing back not only my voice, but my confidence to sing again. Your the best!

I taught myself guitar from the age of 18 but have always had a passion for singing. I’ve suffered years of confidence issues with my vocal ability as I always felt it could never match up to my guitar playing. Failing to see a light at the end of the tunnel, I finally decided this year enough is enough and sought out a vocal coach, finding Paul’s website online. After reading all of the positive reviews about him I decided to try a lesson out and see if it would make any difference.

I wasn’t disappointed, Paul’s professional, friendly, relaxed and enthusiastic approach instantly made me feel confident and at ease. There’s so much more to singing than I thought, learning about how the vocal folds work and the techniques involved in how to deliver my voice has been both beneficial and interesting from day one. The progress I have made because of Pauls guidance has been incredible, I’m attempting and performing songs that prior to the lessons, I would have never dreamed of being able to sing and its giving me the confidence to step back into live performing.

Every lesson is great fun and teaches me something new, after only 4 months I can scarcely believe how far I’ve come. Pre-lesson me wouldn’t have believed he could ever have had the vocal ability I have now and I can only imagine this will keep improving in the future with Paul’s positive and constructive attitude!

If like pre-lesson me, you’re reading this review because you want to improve but don’t seem to be getting anywhere, or you want to perform but you’re scared of people being critical of your vocal ability, or maybe you’re thinking you’re just not good enough… stop second guessing yourself, get in touch with Paul, and watch him give you the tools and the confidence to change everything!

During my working life I was a teacher and a headteacher and often played piano on a variety of occasions. More recently, I worked in school improvement for a local authority supporting schools in improving teaching and learning. Having recently retired, I decided to have piano lessons again the idea this time was to play some of the Jazz standards, music I particular enjoy listening to. I found Paul's website and contacted him explaining that I wanted to learn to improvise, to build up a repertoire and to become a better player. I have been having lessons with Paul for almost 9 months now. He has an excellent subject knowledge and an instinctive understanding of learning styles. In each lesson Paul helps me to think and talk about my playing and offers constructive suggestions on techniques to improve. He has also suggested pieces I might like to play which are challenging but which have, at the same time, developed my skills and ability. My playing has really developed as a result of his teaching and I have gained greatly in confidence. As a consequence, I am now able to improvise and play a range of the Jazz standards I love. My 8 year old daughter has been having piano lessons with Paul since January. Paul is very good with her and makes you feel right at home. My daughter can be quite difficult at times as she is on the Autistic spectrum, but this poses no problem for Paul as he is very good at bringing her back on task. She loves going to the lessons and likes to play Queen and Coldplay to name a few. I am very pleased with her progress and would highly recommend Paul to anyone who is considering tuition. More...
