Paul was my chosen photographer for my Father-in-laws wedding in April this year (2017). We had a discussion prior to the wedding day to decide what we wanted and agree the budget. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
There is really no secret in taking a great photograph. I would say "having an eye for detail and knowing how to frame your subject" would be a good starting point and some basic understanding of the mechanics of your camera. If you are photographing people then gaining a rapport with your subjects, putting them at ease is just as important.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I would ask what is the timescale, do they have a budget in mind, what is the location.
Does the client have an idea of the look/theme/feel they wish to portray in their images.
How did they find my services and what attracted them to me. There many, many more questions to be asked depending on the assignment.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety of my profession and the people I meet along the way. One day I will be in the studio shooting products or family portraits, the next I may be in central London dodging traffic photographing commuting motorcyclists. I also volunteer for a wonderful local hospice and offer my services covering many of their events throughout the year.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The freedom to be my own boss inspired to me work for myself. Having worked in the I.T. and Events industry it seemed a natural progression. I wouldn't swap it for world!
