Q&As

My job is never boring (and not for the reasons most people would imagine). Sure, I hear the juicy details of people's lives, but that pales in comparison to the positive transformations my clients often achieve, even when starting from a place of utter hopelessness.

I am thoroughly impressed by the strength, resiliency, and perseverance my clients reveal through their stories, and by their brave steps toward profound insight and personal growth.

I love getting to know new people and helping them to understand themselves and others. I love empowering people who feel helpless. I love helping people discover how to love themselves. I love having a laugh (and an occasional cry) with my clients.

I believe that actively seeking contentment and peace for oneself is mandatory for those who help others find those very things through their profession. Working in private practice allows me the freedom to choose how I fill my days and pace my work. I am passionate about what I do and apply principles I use to help clients to my own life. Working in private practice is a way of pursuing my own dreams while helping others, honoring my personal values, and maximizing opportunities to care for myself when I need it.

I care... A LOT. My highest priority is developing authentic, collaborative relationships with clients while maintaining the professional boundaries required for effective and ethical practice. In psychotherapy, clients often undertake difficult, uncomfortable tasks along the path to change. I don't flinch at doing difficult things, feeling uncomfortable, challenging my own beliefs, and getting down in the muck with my clients to help them find their way out. Why would I ask my clients to do things I am not willing to do myself? When we work together, we will be a team in the truest since. When my clients are working hard, I am working hard. When hopeless feelings makes this kind of work difficult, I have enough hope for both of us. Lastly, no matter my strengths as a psychotherapist, I know that I cannot be the right fit for everyone. If I am not the right fit for you, I will help you find a psychotherapist who is.
