Alex is fantastic. I messaged several different accountants in my search for someone who had experience with freelance entertainment deductions and Alex was the only one who responded  in a thoughtful way that I could tell wasn't just a copy/paste boiler plate. He also has a great website on which you can easily make an appointment (I deeply dislike having to call places to make appointments). The actual session was quick and easy; he recommended a great strategy that I wouldn't have thought of on my own and he even let me take my dog into his office. If you need a tax preparation service, thus is the place to go. Alex knows how to get all your deductions in order that I sometimes overlook.  His knowledge of the current tax codes and keeping updated has helped me tremendously on my tax returns.  His experience and his recommendations for next year will only help you in your filings. I've always dealt with a big tax services chain (who shall remain nameless), as I have a simple return and thought I didn't need anything more than someone to click buttons for me and file the return. My wife and I were shocked to find out this year from said company that we owed a significant amount to both the Feds and the State. We realized before authorizing them to file that something had to be wrong, and we questioned the competency of the tax preparer. We walked out and started the search for a true tax professional.A friend of ours recommended us to Alex, and I am so thankful that they did. He gave us the time and concern that was lacking from the representative of the other company. He found a series of errors made by the other company, and saved us a SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT of money, limiting what was owed to the IRS, and helping us obtain a refund from the State. He also gave us some advice as to what to expect next year, as we are planning to buy our first home. Alex went above and beyond for us, and I would guess this is how all of his clients feel.To put it simply, there is a big difference between a true tax professional and these Big Brand Tax Chains. You are short changing yourself if you continue to patronize these big companies who don't get to know you and charge exorbitant fees. I called and made an appointment with Alex which was simple, he worked around my schedule and even was available on a Saturday . This is my third year in a row going to Paragon. I enjoy finding businesses that are smaller where you get very good customer service and it feels like they are your personal accountant. You won't get that with a larger company. This year we had a very complicated tax filing with three 1099s, two W2s, and two different property tax bills. You might think you can do it yourself but I guarantee you will miss deductions or report inaccurate deductions on your own. They won't stop working for you until they have triple checked every possible deduction to try and get you the most money possible or so that you have a smaller bill. Most places would have charged $500+ and turbo tax just doesn't have the functionality for difficult returns. It would probably take you 40 hours to finish your own taxes and instead he can do it under two. More...
