Found this place thru Big Ten Eats as we were visiting U of IL. Loved the deep dish pizza. Also had the wings. They had a nice medium buffalo sauce.

As their radio ad on WPGU once put it, Papa Del's pizza isn't Chicago Style or New York Style-- it's Champaign Style. It's good, and definitely unique, and the new location is excellent. That said (and I'll say this about Chicago deepdish too), I think the pizza is... heavy handed. If I wanted this much cheese-- well, I didn't. I didn't want this much cheese. If you do, go for it! The stuffed crust is amazing! If you aren't into thick pizza, the thin crust is really good! The sauce and cheese are high quality and delicious! Also, the breadsticks are awesome!

Papa dels is always delicious. Deep crust so dense and heavy and thick and weighty and hearty, gotta love the cheese the ooey Gooey just right melted with the perfect amount of shine, sauce with some sweetness a ripeness straight off the vine so succulent I dip the edge of the crust in the left overs before I like my plate clean like a vile pig.

The deep dish has been my favorite since my college days in the late 70s. However the newer thin crust is awesome! They can handle the rush after a football game, and I have never been disappointed.

I worked out of town and my wife sent me a link of an episode of Chicago's best. I decided to try it. The pizza was great. Definitely try the silician pan pizza. Waitress was great. Pizza was delicious. Got the sicillian style party size. Had enough food for 2 adults and 3 teenagers with leftovers. Good amount of topping choices and appetizers. There is something about the familiarity of the taste of really good pizza. I don't go often but still love the thin crust sausage pizza, tastes the same as the first one I had forty years ago! The breadsticks are the best!
