Personal Trainers

Matt has been great. He has worked with me from a fairly low fitness level to being able to run and complete the Edinburgh half marathon. He is really patient and understanding and has a great way of explaining exercises and the correct way to go though them with the proper technique so absolutely no risk of injury. Running and Jogging Lessons

Matt is a just the best. When I started with him I had less than 4 weeks until my half marathon and couldn’t even run a 5k. With his gentle encouragement and knowledge I was able to successfully complete it injury free and actually enjoyed it.
He is super knowledgeable and shares enough of this to push you to be better without overwhelming you. He has a kind nature and always makes you feel comfortable in his sessions. This has enabled me to stay consistent with my training and grow in confidence without dreading exercise. My fitness has improved so much in a short period of time and I know with Matts continued help it’s only going to get better. Thanks Matt!!

Matt is simply fantastic: professional, supportive and knowledgeable. Sessions with him were always a delight and I came away everytime feeling on top of the world and a real sense of achievement no matter what we were working on - big or small. His varied, flexible approach and skills means that he adapted all our work to where I was at- be that stressed, busy and tired, or motivated, energised and excited- I always looked forward to our sessions together and came away feeling great. Thanks to Matt I am now much more confident with strength training and my running technique is miles better (and my runs miles longer!) Matthew is just the perfect coach, he first assessed what I needed and has always been able to perfectly know how much tu push me to achieve better results. He is also a great human being and is not bossy at all so it is always a pleasure to do exercises with him! Matthew is both very professional and easygoing. I have been taking courses with my partner in a "buddy-up" format for almost one year, and we can't do without him now! Matthew always takes the time to answer all our questions, providing accessible explanations to non-experts on technical aspects. We've acquired a much better understanding of how the muscles are being used and the correct exercises to practice. I realise how useful it is to have an expert that teaches you the basics and corrects your posture. Even our way of running improves as we know how to position our feet and arms to make our run the most efficient. I was looking for a PT that focussed on mobility and recovery rather than weight and appearance led goals. I definitely found it in Matt. He’s knowledgeable and keen to help whilst still giving you all the space you need to figure out what you want from each session. I really think Matt is unusual in his understanding of consent- it’s hard to trust someone talking about your body and invading your space but Matt is always really thoughtful about this. I've been training with Matt for just over a month now and the results have been fantastic! I wanted to get a bit fitter and I can already feel a huge difference - I can also see big improvements in the mirror too! Matt has helped me make small tweaks to with a food diary which have been easy to implement and have me feeling much better overall. Matt's sessions are a blast too! Really challenging but loads of fun. His support and encouragement outside of sessions has been ace too. He's a really fantastic guy and I strongly recommend him if you're looking for a PT or want to make a big difference to your health and fitness. More...

Everyone is different, and that's the beauty of working as a personal trainer! Every client is a fresh start and requires a new and varied approach. I sit down with my clients and make sure every session and every plan is tailored to their specific fitness and nutritional goals.

There's no secret. It requires hard work, dedication and hopefully lots of fun along the way!

Working with such a broad range of people from all walks of life. No two clients have the same goals and aspirations, and that makes the job such a unique and privileged experience for me. Helping people achieve their goals is a wonderful thing, whether it's weight loss, performance-focused or just feeling more confident in their own skin.

My journey in sports and fitness has spanned many years and has crossed various genres. I was a county swimmer and have been heavily involved in a number of other sports, including rugby, squash, basketball and running. But most of all, I started Oxley Fitness because I know what it's like to be unhappy in your body and stuck in a rut. I wanted to help others learn about their bodies, fitness, nutrition and endurance, but most of all make the right choices for themselves.

My approach to training and nutrition will always follow a pragmatic, simple mindset. There are no shortcuts or one-size-fits-all ways of achieving our potential. That’s why I won’t be recommending any fad diets or jumping on the bandwagon of the latest fitness trends. I will tailor your exercise and nutrition programmes to fit you and your lifestyle, using evidence-based practices and research the whole way. Most importantly, I’ll do my best to make your fitness journey fun and achievable.
