I can't say enough positives in my experience dealing with Outdoor Living.I was given a wide variety of products to pick for my deck, being given the pros and cons for each product. The materials arrived on time and the work was finished in less than a week, from teardown of the existing deck and staircase to completion of a fabulous looking deck. The young men who worked on the deck were polite, pleasant and most helpful. I had a deck replacement. The old deck had rotted. Outdoor Living replace all the concrete piers, and step landings in addition to the deck construction. The price was fair, and the sales representative, Bill Martin, kept me informed as to the progress of the project. I worked with Bill to have a fence installed in our backyard for our puppy. First off, the price was definitely right! Then the workers who installed the fence were very nice and professional. After experiencing several problems right off the bat, the 2nd crew came in and did a wonderful job finishing up. To explain further, the older gentleman who took down the old deck had problems that the pieces were to big. He sawed them off and just dropped them down to my existing patio. Then he torn up plants that weren't even in the way. When he took off my trellises, instead of putting them in front of garage like we had discussed, he laid them on top of my beautiful butterfly bush, cracking and breaking off several branches. Dave got a lot off emails that week. Then the father, son, son-in-law crew came in. In the mornings they would arrive whenever they wanted and left whenever they wanted. The father was only there maybe half the time. I could see the young men struggling as to what to do next. They said they were coming and then didn't. The job probably took twice as long. The next crew came in and bam, it was done within a week. Thank goodness. I cleaned up debris several different times and had to move the cut unusable pieces out of the way to get into the garage. I contracted with Outdoor Living Enterprises to put up a 6' cedar privacy fence in our backyard. Every person I dealt with throughout the process was forthcoming with information, polite and seemed to really enjoy their work. Dave was an outstanding communicator to explain every aspect of the procedure and how long everything would take. While he was measuring the property to provide an estimate he answered every question I had without hesitation. He navigated a permit issue with my municipality for me and found an excellent design solution to comply with an ordinance change. The building crew was professional in every regard. Their crew lead was Jeremy who called to confirm their starting time and date. When he and his crew arrived, he walked the property with me and confirmed the design plan. He checked with me several times to give me the choice of options possible and explained the advantages or disadvantages of each possibility. I can't say enough great things about this company. Wife and I were looking to get our old deck fixed up. We've gotten 4 bids from four other companies and everyone of their sales people tried the hard sell and wanted to up-sell us. I had to not so politely throw one of them out of my house (and yes, complaint filed). Just when I was ready to give up we attended a weekend 'deck' event at Outdoor Living where we met Dave Wibbenmeyer. In a word Dave was - is - amazing! He listened to what we wanted, did not try to upsell us on anything, gave us options and let us decide. No pressure. None. And even though we were slightly outside their service area (Shiloh, IL) they took on our job anyway. That same attention to detail and excellence carried into the crew as well. Darren, Steve, and Joe are craftsmen in the truest sense of the word. What I thought would be a job with a couple of issues had way more than I realized. They took the time to do the job exceptionally well and do it right. It doesn't just look terrific it is built to last. It's clear the phrase "good enough" isn't in their vocabulary. They were meticulous with every detail .. and there were a lot of details. Even more impressive they took this level of care in the 100 degree heat the past two weeks (July 2016). Fantastic. From getting the estimate to project completion, whole process was easy. To my pleasant surprise, they started during the estimated period AND finished on time. Bill was my main contact - wonderful, accommodating guy. Talked briefly to Darren - very nice. Rob and Steve did the work... couldn't ask for better guys to spend my lunch hours with! ;) They were friendly, hard workers. Even worked when it was raining (and humid, and scorching sun). We signed with Outdoor Living for a roof-covered deck after seeing a project they did for a friend of ours and we could not be happier! Bill was excellent to work with during the design phase. He was responsive, prompt and professional. The work crew headed up by Ron and Darren was exceptional. Their commitment to quality work and getting it right was evident throughout the entire construction phase.
