My boyfriend took me out here on my birthday and I  can say coming here made my birthday 10x better. We were here on a Monday and it wasn't busy, so when we got here we were able to get a seat right away. We both ordered chicken parmigiana , which was soo good. It was a lot of food and it was very filling. The staff was very sweet and friendly and made sure we were satisfied with the food. Will definitely come back again. More...

Muito bom! So, I first tried Ornella's delicious pasta back in June for my sister in law's birthday. We didn't want to leave the house, so I opted to order in. I went off of the Yelp reviews, and man, were we pleased! I can't remember what we ordered, but it was memorable. Fast forward to a week ago, and the sis-in-law and I decide to go to Ornella's to dine in - a fantastic experience. The restaurant was not packed but not empty, either. I liked the layout and the soft lighting.  First, we asked for two glasses of wine to get warmed up, and then we ordered three of their pasta dishes, which turned out great because we went in on a $10 any pasta Thursday. We enjoyed all of our three choices, which were the Spaghetti Carbonara, Orecchiette w/Rabe, and the Linguine w/Clams. Each pasta dish was delicious and exquisite in its way. The tiramisu at the end was the icing on the cake. The service was excellent! Sergio was attentive and personable. All over a great experience on a Thursday evening. I highly recommend them, and I can't wait to go back to try other dishes. More...

The food is awesome, but even better than that is the service. Especially Sergio. Had a great time chatting with him and hearing about the family love that goes into the food here.

Ornella is a great restaurant with amazing food. I've eaten here a few times since moving to the neighborhood in 2017. I take family and friends to Ornella, among other places, and Ornella is always the one they are talking about and asking to come back to. Sometimes I get takeout from here as well. The food is always well-packaged and at the right temperature. I enjoy the soups very much. They are light and flavorful. The pastas have nice sauces and the salads are really fresh. I will be eating at Ornella again soon! More...

I've been hearing about this place for a few years now and I finally was able to make my way over. The menu was super extensive, it was nearly impossible to not find something that I'd like. I started with the duck meatballs and the asparagi di campo... WOW, then I had the stuffed pork chop and my girlfriend  had the rigatoni amatriciana and it was all fantastic. There was a LITTLE delay with the entree's but it was a busy night so I understand, either way it was well worth the wait. The service was great, Sergio and Angelo (who happens to be the owners son) were super friendly and helped with all my questions. Will definitely be coming back soon!P.S. the wallpaper in the bathroom is made of all their negative Yelp reviews. GENIUS! More...

This is my favorite Italian gem and has been my favorite spot in Astoria for 5 plus years now. Penne con Pollo, stuffed pork chop, chestnut pasta. ..EVERY TIME ! Those are just some of my favorites, but nothing on the menu has ever disappointed. I could go on and on but above all Sergio and the entire Ornellas family treat us like their own every time. Thank you guys for another incredible meal and memorable night. Happy Holidays! More...

There are so many Italian restaurants in NYC to eat from, but Ornella definitely hits the spot. Ornella's is one of those familiar neighborhood spots where you get to know everyone by first name. When you walk in, you get see the rustic and welcoming interior. The menu has anything you can ask for, from authentic black garlic to the chicken parm you grew up to eat and love. What really drew me to Ornella is the care that team puts into, from great service to having their own farmhouse to source the best ingredients. Food wise, the dishes are all incredibly flavorful and the portions are generous. I will be back for more and will even order catering for my family to try this Italian delight. More...

A great neighborhood spot. Inside is very old school and dimly lit but don't let the rustic interior fool you, they have some awesome pasta. I've had both take out and dine in experiences here and have never been disappointed. They give you bread and olive oil to start which is nice. The wine by the glass is a very generous pour but a little pricey at $10/glass. They do seem to have pretty well priced wine by the bottle options though. This time I had the rigatoni amatriciana with pancetta and onion in tomato sauce. The pasta was perfectly al dente, sauce was creamy and rich, pancetta gave it the perfect smoky touch. My boyfriend had the spaghetti puttanesca with capers and olives, also very delicious, sauce was tangy and awesome. Funny thing is they have bad yelp reviews printed out pose all over their bathroom walls. I actually found them on Yelp and thought they have a great page! More...

Came here yesterday for my 5yr anniversary the place was warm and cozy. The food was good, the sauce tasted fresh,  and also I love the fact that w. e. you didnt see on the menu you can ask if they can make it and they didn't give you any issue about it.  My only issue with the place was the long wait for our food to get to us; other than that it was a good night at that restaurant. Dinner party with friends at Ornella last night. The food and hospitality so good we kept ordering and ordering. A wonderful way to end the week. We celebrated two birthdays both several months apart here. This is a small restaurant but everytime we come, it's pretty busy so a ressie is a good idea. My friend wanted had pesto pasta and the mushroom risotto for my birthday earlier during the year and really liked it so for her birthday which was last week, she requested for a redo at the same restaurant. It's a small local resto but often times its the small restaurants that are good. We ordered a handful of appetizers and a various pastas. They were all pretty good. Calamari Lightly battered and a fave amongst the kids at our table. I prefer the grilled calamari Pesto PastaVery pesto-y so if you don't mind that sorta thing, def in it out do it! Heavy garlic and medium in terms of cheesy. This was clearly a winner amongst our table of 11. Mushroom Risotto I am usually not a risotto person because it's super heavy but it was good here. Well Balanced between flavors without being heavy. Very mushroomy which we like!Shrimp Scampi Pasta That was a bit on the salty side but the shrimp Scampi was good. They use a black garlic infusion which is really nice. Short Rib Pasta This was gooood! Short ribs were tender and fell off the bone. This is one of my fave. Staff was well versed for a big group. They kept our big table well fed and happy! More...

Here's why we took off a star: our server was not nice nor very friendly, every time he bought something to our table, he pretty much threw it. When we got our check, he said in a rude tone "i'm just gonna let you know it's only cash tip" Ummm, we don't know and rarely have any cash, luckily I found a few singles in my purse so i left that but he was rude as fuck anyway so I guess that's all he deserved. Had an incredible birthday dinner at Ornella last week. Made a reservation for 4 on a Thursday evening at 730. I got to the restaurant 30 minutes early and decided to have a drink at the bar while I waited for my friends to arrive. Their restaurant is very small and their bar area, tiny. It's definitely not the kind of bar I'd want to hang out at, just small! I ordered a glass of prosecco and was told by the owner I could grab any table I wanted. The place was empty, only one other table seated in the dining room, which made me worry a little bit about how good the place really was. Despite my skepticism I grabbed a table in the corner and was immediately given water and a menu. The menu looked incredible, it was massive, something for everyone. The dishes were unique and it was so hard to choose. At the bottom of the menu it said that if you wanted penne ala vodka or chicken parm or rigatoni bolognese just ask! I liked that, this place was totally authentic. They had gluten free options, which was fantastic for me. Eventually the rest of the party got here and we ordered some appetizers and drinks. HEAVY pours for the wine, super generous. We had a table for 4 and then my sister showed up and surprised me so we needed move tables mid meal, the transfer was seamless. The waitstaff was super accommodating and didn't seem irritated that we had to do a complete table change, we greatly appreciated that! For appetizers we got burrata, the verde mista salad and gnocchi. I do not like burrata typically and didn't like this one either but for the burrata fans at the table, everyone said it was really delicious. The verde vista salad was large and delicious and the gnocchi was absolutely delicious. These three appetizers were great for sharing between 5 people. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, I ordered the salmon with sautéed vegetables. The salmon was cooked perfectly, vegetables were tasty but it was a little too butter heavy for me. There was a lot of liquid on the plate under the vegetables, next time I would have ordered it without butter. Service was great throughout the meal, waters were being refilled, cocktails were being brought over when needed, plates were cleared and food came out quickly. After dinner the restaurant brought out two desserts on the house; tiramisu and cheesecake. Holy moly. The tiramisu was the best I have ever had, perfection. The cheesecake was incredible too. I am not a dessert person but I indulged and it was worth it, just awesome. We ended up staying here for about 3 hours, we had an awesome time. We never felt rushed, the food was awesome, we appreciated the complimentary desserts and the price was VERY reasonable for what we got. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious authentic Italian meal. I can't wait to come back! More...

This place is something. Can't remember last time I had such good Italian food. My sister and I went here a Saturday night and got lucky because we didn't have a reservation. The owner (I am sorry, I don't remember you name! I think it started with a G) greeted us personally and made recommendations left and right without being too pushy. Once we sat down and ordered food, he even gave us a plate with a new dish for free! The bathroom is also brilliant. The walls are covered in Yelp reviews with his responses, and it is very entertaining to just hang out in there and read them. That is probably the only negative I can think off - you might spend a little too much time in the bathroom because of how entertaining it is! Thank you, we will definitely come back . More...

After seeing some of the reviews on here I was a little concerned. However, a friend of mine recommended it so I was willing to give it a try. First of all, I enjoyed the ambience very much as did my date. The choices on the menu were varied and the waiter Sergio was very nice and helped us figure out what we should order. He even gave us an order for an appetizer on the house which was excellent. The two waiters we dealt with were attentive and were just great. Overall, the food was very good. On the way out, the owner asked us how we heard about the place and was very friendly as well. I am not sure why others may have had negative experiences but I can honestly say that I am glad that I did not pay attention to them. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a good meal, attentive and friendly staff and overall a very good experience for an Italian meal, where the chef takes pride in his work. More...

This is honestly the best Italian food I've ever had, and I'm a very picky person. My favorite dish are the short ribs and gnocchi! However I've never tried a bad dish. I was there this past Saturday with my family. This is a hidden gem in Astoria. The service was great, and the food was delicious. Homemade and unique Italian dishes that you won't find in other restaurants. Giuseppe explained many of the popular dishes to us, which all sounded delicious. I got a pasta dish with broccoli rabe and sun dried tomatoes which was cooked perfectly. Other dishes that were had and delicious were, a homemade pasta with a pistachio sauce, Osso bucco, grilled calamari and burrata. Half-way into our dinner, a plate of pasta with black garlic (fermented garlic) was brought to our table to try. It would be difficult for me to describe how amazing this was! When you think of Astoria, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Greek food but this restaurant has changed that for me. It's a nice, quaint, and homey restaurant where it's not too dark so you can actually see what you're consuming. I started off with the duck meatballs. The meatballs were perfectly cooked. They were so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce was a nice orange and soy glaze. We also had the short ribs with gnocchi, black garlic shrimp scampi, and the imbustata. The short ribs were so tender and they were falling off the bone. The gnocchi were pillows of deliciousness. I felt like I could eat the whole dish even if I didn't have teeth because everything just melted in your mouth. The imbustata was torched on the outside so it had a nice crunch. The insides were amazing, filled with chicken and veal and other things, almost like an adult ravioli. The black garlic shrimp was amazing as well. However the highlight of the meal was Sergio. Thank you so much for your hospitality and I'm just dreaming about the next time I'm going to go back. I can't wait to go to work tomorrow so I can eat the leftovers. More...

Ornella is my new favorite Italian spot in Astoria. The food was absolutely amazing; it was fresh, authentic Italian with a very home-y grandma's kitchen feel. I didn't like my entree (it just wasn't for me) and the owner's son promptly changed it out with the best spaghetti and meatballs I have ever had in my life (and I have been to multiple cities in Italy). Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant in Astoria and LIC. A small unassuming place from the outside, but inside hosts a great dining experience. It's a family owned and run business and it's obvious they take pride in their work and their food. The host is the father who is usually around and once food is served he always come round to make sure you love your dish. Every time I'm there I've always had that experience. And the food is amazing. I notice they are also very conscious of people's food needs/ allergies, which isn't a concern of mine but good to know. Their specialty pastas are my favorite and I always recommend the Gorgonzola gnocchi to new people I bring with me - not one of my friends has not been blown away by this dish (which for most people is two meals! (I eat the whole thing because I'm a monster)) I've also been following this place on social media - specifically Facebook and Instagram- and it's interesting seeing how and where they get the meat from, and how's its prepared. I'm really glad to have found this place. For me, it's always a great food experience and I look forward to going back. More...

My girl and I usually as most people, have chosen Saturday night as our "date night" which as you know in a relationship it doesn't matter what we do as long as we're together. Why I bring this up is because as the weather starts to get better, trying a walk in without a res to just about any good restaurant is a crap shoot. We usually get turned away but not this time....after a quick call to the restaurant at peak times they were all too happy to have us. With that and a short Lyft ride my girl and I seated at a table for four drinks in hand.  The menu has an abundance of dishes to choose from with the specials list attached. My girl ordered from the separate wine list and a Peroni for me....surprisgly they only had Peroni or Coors light as a choice for beer. It didn't matter because Peroni is one of my faves when eating Italian.Surprisingly after just a few minutes my girl and I were ready to order. For her the Stuffed Pork Chop and for me the Penne Pollo. The restaurant had a decent amount of people including a few tables with parties of 5 or more so it took some time to be served. Believe me this is not a complaint because if it takes this long to bring out some of the best pasta I've had in a long time than I can wait every single time! The portions are incredibly generous and even though they were busy, when our plates arrived we had to let them sit for a minute or two to cool off.....the sign of a well run kitchen! My pasta was cooked perfectly with sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms and a killer sauce. My girls Pork Chop with pasta was so tasty I kept reaching over to have some. I believe it was stuffed with cheese. Yum yum.So, two entree's, a glass of wine for my girl and two Peronis for me, with tip $83. Thank you to the cooks and staff for a last minute walk in on a Saturday night. What a delicious meal and now on the rotation for our weekly date night! More...

Had picked this place for my sisters 15yr anniversary and I wasn't disappointed! Great wine selection, duck meat balls are amazing, risotto di mare was so delicious and pretty big plate, my husband ordered the chestnut pasta which is so unique and very tasty with a delicious sauce, just an overall wonderful experience. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly, the owner was too! Loved the ambiance because it wasn't too dark inside but very cozy and romantic enough for the occasion. And prices were so reasonable! You would be paying triple in Manhattan and getting far less on your plate! So happy I chose to go there! So happy they're in Astoria. My sister and her husband found a new date spot! More...

I recently visited here with 2 good friends of mine after a long search for good Italian food. I made a reservation on here on Yelp, got there a minute or two early and our table was ready shortly after. The food and wine selection is vast and the food itself was amazing, easily deserving of 5 stars. I only dropped a star in this review due to the poor attitude of one of our two servers. The male server with the blonde ponytail was very unbecoming, almost rude to a certain point. After we received our menus he came up to us a few minutes afterwards and without even introducing himself just said "Y'all ready to order?" and leaned back against the wall. Very off putting at first but we brushed it off as if nothing happened, told him we needed a few more minutes and he left. Our second waiter came up to us after another 10 or so minutes, he was very well spoken, very kind, and well mannered. We ordered our food and wine, he left and about 10 minutes later our Calamari came out, and 15 minutes after that our entrees came out. Food was piping hot and fresh and tasted amazing, hats off to the chef. Then after we finished our meals, our original server returned with some homemade blueberry limoncello if I remember correctly, which was very very nice. A few minutes later he came back again and asked if we wanted coffee or dessert, I kindly asked if we could see the menu for dessert because I was very tempted, to which he brazenly replied "For what? We got this, this, and this." Which was my final straw. I looked at my friends, we all silently agreed, and I asked for the check. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt the first time he got unwelcoming but the second time was just uncalled for. That being said, I recommend this restaurant to you if you love both a traditional and a modern take on Italian food as there are options for both and judging from our first time here the food is made very well. Love this place! I met my friend for dinner Friday night, since this is one of her fav local spots. We had reservations at 7:30 & we were seated right away. We started with apps - burrata and calamari fritti...both delicious and on point. For dinner I ordered the Pork Chop Milanese well done- soooooo good. For dessert, I had an Americano and chocolate cake..outstanding (insert applause!) The ambiance is cute & cozy. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. To top it all off, it's walking distance from my place. I'm adding this to my list of favorite hotspots :) More...

Siamo contrari a mangiare in ristoranti Italiani quando siamo fuori ma eravamo stanchi da una giornata di camminate a Manhattan che ci siam fermati per una pasta al volo con tutti gli scongiuri del caso. I've come here on multiple occasions with my girlfriend, and most of what we talk about in between visits is when we'll be back. The decor is charming, a small hole-in-the-wall feel ok a well established place that's just fantastic. The Gnocchi al Gorgonzola is the best fresh pasta I've ever had. The service is wonderful; the owner is friendly and attentive, and offered us a sampling of house made blueberry liqueur! Have been back multiple times, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. My initial reaction to this place was "it's so tiny". You would drive (even walk) right past it and never even know. But what the place lacks for in size they make up for in flavor. My friends and I ordered the chestnut pasta to split as an app and we devoured it. The truffle oil sauce was perfect - not too heavy but amazing flavor & the chestnut flour was so delicious and different. I wasn't crazy about the burrata but I am a bit particular about burrata. I ordered a lobster ravioli with shrimp in pink sauce off of their specials menu. Very tasty. I also sampled some of my friends short rib with gnocchi and it was fantastic. The waiter was a very nice gentleman and brought our group over some blueberry limoncello shots (awesome!)The menu is huge so I am looking forward to going back in the future and trying more. Just left the restaurant. Sooo excited to rate and give reviews. Awesome - from soup to nuts as they say. I'm so sooo bad. .. Had pasta three ways. Thank God we're not watching our waistlines. Had the chestnut pasta w/ pistachio sauce (rich and indescribable), 2nd linguini w/ squid ink and black garlic(Awesome ) and linguini w/ Frances sauce( deeeelish). For entrees I had the Bass in Francese sauce w/ linguini. It wasn't on the menu.!  I mentioned to or waiter, Sergio that I wanted fish. He said he'll have something special made for me. It melted in your mouth. The other in my party had veal w/ artichokes and capers w / lemon and my friend had wild boar w/ polenta. Neither had a comment cuz they were so busy enjoying it.It's a family owned business. We met 2 of the sons. One nicer than the other. The food is really great every time we have visited this restaurant. The owner is really sweet and i did not share the same experience the other yelpers experienced, he even offered us complementary dessert. The pasta are always great and the servers are polite and friendly. My only only concern and that i like to point out has NOTHING to do with the food, is the one spanish guy that works there. I dont think he intends to be rude but he definitely is, he made us feel really uncomfortable the last time we were there. And thats why we have been reluctant to return. I was really hoping to be served by the taller guy that worked there who was really sweet the last time we went. Honestly this place is great and I highly recommend it. More...

Old School Italian, Done Right!Hubby and I have been coming here for years. We call it "our special place" since we tend to spend our Anniversary dinners here. The food has never let us down and if something isn't to our liking, we let them know and they make it right! The wait staff works the room and is very attentive. The decor isn't flashy or upscale, so if that is what you're seeking, move on. But if you're looking for a great Italian meal, you found it! They offer the traditional meals, such as lasagne, pastas with vodka sauce, fra diavlo dishes, etc. But the best part about Ornella's is the modern spin they put on traditional dishes! Duck meatballs, veal prosciutto, wild boar ... all insanely delicious!!! And a MUST have, the burrata!! Yummmmm On our last trip I had the Imbustata, hubby had his go-to Steak Pizzaola, delicious!!! People have complained about the owner and his demeanor, hubby and I laugh because he is just like every Italian Papa we ever met! He's stern and to the point, in other words, he's Italian! ;) We love it here and will be back to celebrate another anniversary here in March!! 30 years old marriage deserves a fabulous meal and our choice will be Ornella Trattoria in Astoria! My family's favorite Italian restaurant in Queens! We drive here from Woodside, and even though parking can be annoying in Astoria, it's so worth it. We make reservations through Yelp each time, and everyone from the owner to the busboys are warm and welcoming as soon as we walk in. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced, but the linguini with white clam sauce and their risottos are exceptional, and their wine selection is A+. Service is just as amazing as the food. Not your ordinary Italian restaurant. Ornella Trattoria Italiana really made us feel like family. The place was packed at 8:30pm. We waited for a table since the place is fairly small. The man who we believe was the owner came up to us and told us a brief history of Ornella and the difference in flavor they bring to their food even to their traditional plates. I ordered a baked ziti which was absolutely amazing. Our table even received a complementary plate of black sauce linguine. My favorite dish however, was definitely the chestnut pasta. Everyone at our table was more than satisfied with their dishes. It was a bit pricey but what you expect from a wine bar/Italian restaurant. I would definitely return to try more delicious dishes. This review is loooooong overdue, and I am so sorry to the owner that I didn't write this review sooner especially since this is an AMAZING restaurant. Seriously, do not even think about whether to go or not, just go!I came here with a group of 15 people to celebrate my graduation (finished my master's, yay me!). The staff was extremely attentive and patient with my large group. They answered everyone's questions and entertained our quips and jokes. Their recommendations were on point as well! Their food was so good that my friends and I still talk about it, specifically their chestnut pasta. Their fresh pastas are made daily, and they really go into detail about the process. Unfortunately it's been so long since I was there (sorry again!) that I can't remember everything. I just know that it is one of the best pasta dishes that I've ever had. In addition to the chestnut pasta, we also got the black sauce garlic pasta, carbonara, linguine alle vongole, lobster ravioli and gnocchi. Not a single dish was disappointing. Every single dish was delicious, unique and definitely something to remember. To top off an already awesome meal, they gave us not one, but TWO complimentary bottles of champagne! I was feeling guilty when they couldn't serve everyone with one bottle, but the owner brought out a second bottle without hesitation. It really made my day feel even more special. Thank you everyone at the restaurant because you gave me a memory I definitely won't forget.TL;DR - The staff is awesome, the food is awesome. I visited Ornella Trattoria Italiana about two weeks ago with some friends. The moment we stepped in we were greeted by wonderful hosts and treated with such kindness. There are so many amazing options to choose from so it took us all a while to decide what we should order, but finally we all decided except for one of my friends. The waiter told her that he would surprise her and ended up bringing us an extra free plate of pasta and brought her the Imbustata which is an oven baked envelope shaped pasta filled with chicken, wild mushrooms, homemade mozzarella and much more! The free pasta he brought us was the chestnut pasta. That was probably one of the most amazing dishes I've ever eaten, it was sweet and so flavorful. Not something I would normally order but from now on will definitely be on my list! We also tried the gnocchi, cavatelli a la vodka and the Penne Integrali, which I customized to have fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce. They were very flexible with customizations and let you order what you wanted! The ambiance was inviting and warm, very kind people and the food was amazing! I walked into this quaint little restaurant that was surprisingly pleasing on the senses. The reception was friendly, as the waiter led us to our seats. The manager greeted us as well and had a quick conversation. The menu was given to us and it is a bit extensive (with no pictures), but don't let it dissuade you. I got the duck meatballs, and be prepared, as it is filling for an appetizer. There are only two meatballs, but it is a good starter for a group (plus something different to try). The fried calamari is very light and tasty. All the pasta entrees ordered were very generous portions for the price you pay. The flavors are on point and everyone enjoyed the dishes they ordered. Most of us took our meals to go, due to the generous portion size. The wait staff and manager checked on us a few times and the manager provided some interesting tidbits that helped guide us in ordering what would fit our tastes which helped in breaking down the menu. The dessert was tasty as we had the tartuffo which was a nice ending to the meal. We were also given a nice parting shot of housemade Limoncello, which was nice and smooth going down. An excellent end to a nice evening. I will definitely return to this restaurant in the future as it is a good place to enjoy a group meal for any special occasion. More...

You would never know that you would feel like home from liking at the outside of the restaurant.  Once you walk in and speak with the manager, you feel like you have been a regular even though it is your first time eating at the restaurant.  The wait staff was quite attentive and food was brought out promptly.  The duck meatballs are very big, and the flavor is very good with the orange brandy sauce they use.  Everyone ordered different pastas and the portion size was very generous.  The flavors were very good, did not need salt or anything else to add to it.  The tartufo dessert was enough to satisfy the sweet tooth.  And a nice parting shot of Limoncello was a good end to the meal.  The manager really makes you feel comfortable where you forget you are in NY for a bit.  The decor is nice and I really enjoyed the meal.  I will definitely return. A week ago I ordered a delivery through seamless and food was great, best seafood pasta EVER! That great that I decide to go dine in the restaurant and check the place out! The restaurant is small but really cozy and I would say kind of romantic vibe. The menu is handwritten, very cool and original in my opinion. The food was great and the wine selection as well. I'm not giving 5 stars because of the SERVICE, the guy who took care of us was cool and everything but he talks too much, he exceeds the "being nice and give a good service" and when you talk non stop, you forget important details, as for example I order my pasta with Penne pasta instead of linguini and I repeat like 3 times this, cause I really don't like linguini, but he was so distracted talking and talking that, after 45 min, my pasta came with linguini... I mean, I was thinking in return the food but at the same time I was so hungry for the long wait that I decided just to let it go. As an advice, you don't need to talk non stop to be a "good server" but instead you should TAKE NOTES of the order... atmosphere and food 5 stars tho.  Note: they gave us free desert as a welcome More...

My friends, who are regulars here, introduced me to this place a year ago and I have been coming ever since. It is truly one of the best authentic and high quality Italian restaurants that I have been to. You truly feel at home when you are eating here since the staff is very friendly and interactive with their guests. I enjoy coming on Thursday's during Pasta nights since you are getting a wide variety of dishes at a great deal. Giuseppe, the owner, does a great job in making you feel welcomed and takes great pride in the quality of his cuisines. I notice some reviews complain about the pricing but honestly, you are paying for outstanding quality Italian food made with many personalized ingredients and recipes known by Giuseppe. I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli this past Friday (new dish I decided to try) and it was DELICIOUS. Just the right temperature and marinated in the most mouthwatering sauce I have tasted. Worth every dime and if you prefer your cheap microwave Italian food, then Ornella's is not the place for you. Great staff great wine and food was delicious. Asked the waiter Sergio to give me what he thought was the best dish. He said ok, walked away and surprised me. It was a chicken mushroom and sundries tomato in a cream sauce pasta dish and was soooo good. My girl loved what she had also. Will be back again for sure. More...

I like this little Italian Restaurant in Astoria for it's unique menu options. I have dined here many times and was always satisfied with the great food. Its also a great place for Vegans. I was planning to have dinner with a new co worker who is Vegan. She wanted to try a restaurant in Astoria and this was the first place that I thought of. Needless to say, she fell in love with their menu and of course the food. More...

Absolutely delightful. This is one of those rare, family-owned and operated authentic gems. The duck meatballs, grilled calamari, chestnut pasta, and a special - pappardelle with veal - were all extraordinary. I recommend splitting everything with your dining companions to taste it all.I'm not generally a fan of meat and cheese plates and could've done without this one, but the fact that the meats were smoked at the owner's home in the catskills made it special, and the unique, homemade jams were spectacular. Topped off the meal with a slice of chocolate mousse cake. Perfection.Come here if you are looking for a lovely yet unpretentious dining experience with warm, personal service and a unique menu of tasty, interesting takes on Italian dishes. More...

Last night Ornella provided a perfect atmosphere with an even more perfect meal for a gathering of 14 old friends.  While the room was tight, our reservation insured us a perfect table and the service was impeccable.  The home made pasta melts in your mouth.  My sauce, made with pistachios was the best I have ever eaten.  Everyone was thrilled with their dish.  In addition to the very long menu, the restaurant will make chicken parmigiana or other classics for anyone who requests them.  This was my first time here but it will not be my last. Ornella Trattoria Italiana is one of my favorite restaurants to dine in New York. Ornella Trattoria Italiana delivers rustic and artisanal food, a comfortable home feel, and quality service. Comfortable home feel allows fulfilled enjoyment. Family styled consisting delicious family recipes including their delicious tiramisu, broccoli recipe, black garlic usage, pasta dishes, and occasional lamb special (my favorite). Came here on Easter Sunday for lunch with my entire family including my two young (3 and 5 yr old) kids. We had one of the best and amazing dining experiences here. We had a 1230 reservation and were seated right away. We were greeted by an extremely friendly staff including the owner Giuseppe. We ordered the caprese con pepperoni, fried calamari and duck meatballs to start. All were PHENOMENAL!!!!!! As we enjoyed our appetizers, we were constantly checked on by the owner himself and he asked if this was our first time there. We told him it was and told him I discovered his restaurant thru the great reviews on Yelp. Once appetizers were done, all of our main courses were served. Giuseppe's hospitality was more than I could have expected. With our main courses, he graciously gave us their signature pasta dish, the chestnut pasta!!!!!!!!! Again, delicious and nothing I've ever had before. I ordered the penne con pollo for my kids and let me tell you, my ridiculously picky 5 yr old eater inhaled it, something I have not see him do for many dishes. I ordered the black garlic shrimp scampi which was exceptional. The waiter even brought me samples of the actual black garlic to try!!!! As if the experience wasn't already beyond terrific, Giuseppe presents us with fresh homemade Limoncello ( he makes the Limoncello in his home in the catskills) shots to end our wonderful meal!!! Our family Easter meal was unbelievable from start to finish!!!!! Definitely going to return with more family and friends!!! Thank you Ornella Trattoria for an unforgettable experience!!! Excellent restaurant if you are looking for authentic Italian food.  There were 7 of us, so we all ordered different dishes and were all very happy with the quality.  My mom, who is a very picky old-fashioned Italian woman, gave it 5 stars as well. She doesn't compliment Italian restaurants very often.  But she loved Ornella!   Starting from the fresh bread and olive oil they bring as soon as you sit down, she knew instantly that the oil was top notch, extra virgin olive oil (she comes from Abruzzo, where she owned her own olive trees which they made olive oil from).   The food was DECADENT.   Fresh calamari and Vongole Oreganata were mouth watering. The frutti di mare dish was PACKED with all types of seafood and the pasta al dente, the pistachio chestnut dish was my selection and it was EXCELLENT.  Hubby got the mushroom linguini and stuffed porkchop.  SO good. The wine selection was excellent!  A few of us adults had wine and all enjoyed it.   The dessert was excellent as well!! One more thing- he had two grappas up front that looked so good that we tried two of them- both EXCELLENT!   Aside from the delicious food, the servrs were all very down to earth and checked in on us frequently.   Two of them resembled each other, so we asked if they were brothers - and they were.  Their dad, who is the owner, was very actively involved in asking every table how their meal was, he made sure the kitchen was running well and that the restaurant was running smoothly.   My mom asked to speak with him and she complimented him on a great job, food, service and last but not least, her espresso  was excellent as well!! :)  Great job, Ornella!! This is my first time ordering from here, and it certainly won't be my last.Caesar salad- The caesar salad was delicious. Perfect amount of dressing, great flavour, and loved the shaved parmesan cheese. Eggplant parmesan- Everything tasted fresh, and my favorite part was the sauce. I typically have a problem with tomato sauce because they tend to be acidic and give me heartburn, but their sauce was not acidic at all and I feel fine after eating. For my main course I opted for the cod fish prepared oreganata.  Excellent!  The vegetable side dishes were perfect. Very fresh and flavorful. Not necessary to add to the stellar reviews they already have here, but I will anyway. Traditional Italian, with a modern flair. Family run business that cares about providing delicious and affordable food. The meat and cheese plate is absolutely fresh and the jams that come with it are delicious. Their Chestnut Pasta with Pistachio Cream sauce was amazing. As was their Bolognese and pesto pastas. Trust me when I say this, get the duck meatballs. Don't forget to top off the dinner with a piece of their Tiramisu or chocolate cheesecake, really any of their desserts for that matter. The bathroom walls are great, lots of interesting reviews with the owner's responses. They have a great philosophy they live by and of course, not everyone is going to rave about the place, but in my opinion, they do a fantastic job of providing great quality and consistently good food, nice and attentive service, at a very fair price point. This place is the f*cking best.I haven't written a review in years, but I am compelled to tonight.  I have been ordering delivery from Ornella for 3 years, sometimes I go there to do pick up, sometimes we eat there.  The food is consistently delicious- the pasta de castagna is outstanding, as is the black linguine with anchovies.  When I get delivery they usually throw in a free dessert, too.I am finally reviewing tonight, because, when placing an order on Eat24, I noticed my beloved black linguine was not listed as a menu choice.  I simply selected another menu option, and put that I wanted the black linguini in the notes with an explanation that it wasn't showing as an option.  The item I selected was a few bucks cheaper than the linguini, I think.  Anyways, Ornella filled my order with the black linguini, no questions asked, no phone call that they had to charge me extra.  That's just how they are there, they want to keep repeat customers happy. And the funniest part is, they plaster bad reviews as the wallpaper in their bathroom.  I find it hard to believe they have enough to cover movre than one wall!Anyways, I LOVE you guys.  Thank you for consistently being the best Italian takeout in the Astoria/LIC area.  You've got me hooked for life! At my daughter's suggestion we ordered take-out from Ornella's and got the chestnut pasta, which was such an interesting dish and totally superb. Clearly homemade from scratch, and I love their trying new ingredients for pasta.  I want to try their chickpea pasta at some point too.  A few weeks later we went to the restaurant for dinner, and it was wonderful!  The rustic atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and our waiter was cheerful and helpful.  We had a burrata to start - delicious.  Then we asked the waiter what he would recommend.  He said to try one of the evening specialties if we were adventurous, which we are.  So we had the linguine with aged garlic sauce.  It was a very dark sauce and absolutely divine, a deep garlicky flavor with a sweetness from the aging.  The linguine pasta was homemade and tasted just right.  The waiter also recommended another evening specialty, the lobster ravioli.  It was the best lobster ravioli I have ever had, homemade raviolis filled with delicious chunks of lobster in a creamy pink sauce with additional chunks of lobster.  We had a chianti with our meal that was well priced, smooth, and perfect with the meal.  I was sorry we didn't have room for dessert.  When we ordered take-out we got a tiramisu, really yummy!  My daughter lives in Astoria, and we plan to go to Ornella every time we visit her! My husband ordered the stuffed pork chop and I ordered the chestnut pasta with pistachio sauce and truffle oil. Let me tell you, my entree was unlike anything I had ever tasted. It was nutty, rich, and delicious. Oh and we had a delicious Caesar salad prior to our meal (it's a large portion - definitely shareable as an appetizer!) Additionally, bread and olive oil were served at the table, which was a lovely touch. (I dipped my bread in my entree's sauce as well.) I recommend the limoncello as a sweet end to your meal. Dude... you like good quality, service, and portions? Ornella's got it. I came through at 8:15pm on Thursday and the house was packed. $10 pasta dishes probably had something to do with that, but still, I wouldn't be surprised if this restaurant did well on other days as well. We ordered the lasagna, spaghetti and meat balls, and linguini with clams (all for $10 each!). Before we get to the entrees, though, I want to give a special shoutout to the breadbasket. Sometimes the bread is too soft or too crunchy or whatever... not the case here! I was starving so I ate pretty much all of it, but it really helped that the crust was crunchy and the bread was soft. Really, really tasty!Anyway, onto the pastas. I'm generally partial towards seafood linguini so the linguini with clams was my favorite of the evening, but the lasagna was probably the best quality-wise. While the linguini came with plenty of clams, the pasta had a sort of generic taste that homemade pasta just doesn't have. Still, for $10 I really couldn't complain much. The lasagna was particularly tasty and I could definitely see it going for $16 at any other Italian restaurant. Rich and full of meat, I think its pasta was the only one that wasn't overcooked. The spaghetti and meatballs was pretty good as well, but the most forgettable of the three. Each dish's portion was extremely generous -- more than I've gotten from any Italian restaurant in recent memory -- so that helped, too!If I was going on food and price alone, my experience would only be worth four stars. After speaking with the waiters and the restaurant owner, though, it would be unfair to withhold the last star. The owner was very amicable and acted as host for the evening, and he also checked in with everyone throughout meal. The waiters were casual and friendly and were happy to assist. As we left we stopped to talk to the owner and, as it turns out, the waiters were the owner's sons! (Well, one of them wasn't a son -- he was an employee who had been with the owner since the restaurant's inception.) We chatted for some time about Italy (as we had gone in October and the owner had just returned from a trip there) and the restaurant in general and he was just so friendly.Definitely come here and try the food out! Had a few folks including our old dentist tell us what a gem Ornella was, but we did not get to experience it for ourselves until tonight.  Great time from start to finish.  The delicious meal started with the special Salumi plate - all homemade, nitrate free sausages served with cheese, olives and a trio of flavored marmalades (also homemade), enjoyed with one of the $29 wine bottle specials.  For our main course, we shared the incredible Chestnut Pasta with Pistachio Truffle Sauce and the Short Ribs with Gnocchi. The portions of all the plates were large and we were able to bring home lunch for tomorrow with the leftovers.  The icing on the cake was the delicious homemade lemoncello at the end of the meal.  SO good!Service was great - it seemed like a family run restaurant.  The atmosphere was cozy and the place was packed the whole time we were there. My pasta has always been delicious, with the right amount of sauce. All the others in my parties always enjoyed their food as well. They have a good menu variety, and not just wheat pasta, but hemp and chickpea if you don't eat gluten. Also have fish, pork chops (my Dad gave a thumbs up,) among other non-pasta items. Good mix of traditional pasta dishes and unique items on the menu to choose from.I'd recommend checking it out if you like Italian (and who doesn't?) More...

We have been regulars at Ornella for the past two years. It is our go-to place in the neighborhood for everything from a date night for the two of us, special occasions, and our favorite spot to show off Astoria when we have guests. Giuseppe and his sons are remarkable. They treat us like family and we love them. More...

All the pasta we had here was exceptionally fresh and good and the portion was pretty large. The place is bit small and can feel bit crammed, but good service from the staff makes the experience pleasant and enjoyable. The owner came by to check on us during our visit. After the meal, my husband and I thought the trip from Manhattan was worth it. I would definitely give this restaurant a try if you are in Astoria and craving some good Italian food with wine. Visited Giuseppe and family again at Ornella Trattoria (11/29/17) and - of course - the food and atmosphere have remained superb.  Whether its the burrata special, fried calamari, or literally ALL of their pastas, you cannot get a mediocre dish in this place.  I do not think there is another restaurant at this level of quality yet still affordable to ordinary people - in NYC.  And how many awesome restaurants allow BYOB anymore?  Do not hesitate to enjoy yourself here!  Bravo!! Hello all, lately I've been trying to incorporate more fish and vegetables in my diet... I Tried iL Mulino in NYC and I had this amazing Dover sole fish which cost about $75 plus tax and tip, it was the most amazing fish ever tasted in my lifE, but then I ordered from this restaurant something similar which was the soul fish, it was prepared franchise style and wait for it. .. **This is now the most amazing fish I've ever tasted in my life.. I highly recommend Everyone to order from this restaurant for it was delivered on time and (very neat) no mess... And I'm absolutely crazy about the quality of the food and the taste highly recommend this place.  LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE More...

Love this place! It's the definition of New York City. Place is on the smaller side and gets super busy, I wouldn't have it any other way. The organized chaos is beautiful. The owner is a stand up guy, really appreciate the fact that he seats each table and takes the order. If you order anything here, please try the Imbustata. This is a dish you won't find many places and executed this well. Pairs nicely with the red house wine.I also ordered the Duck Meatballs, prepared with a brandy orange reduction. I wasn't a fan, weird combo for me. Highlight was the bathroom. The owner posts the bad Yelp reviews on the wall haha! This guy is a boss. More...

One of my favorite places in Astoria! Have been here so many times with my husband and the staff couldn't be nicer.  We have ordered many different dishes and haven't been disappointed. My favorites are the braised short ribs with gnocchi, the duck meatballs and the chestnut pasta....so amazing!!!  I don't live in queens anymore but anytime I'm there I go! More...

My brother brought me hear with our wives.  Tony knows food so I knew I'd be in for a great meal.  Off the bat, the owner and his son greeted us like family.  We started off with a few appetizers.  The meat platter was spot on with prosciutto, pork and soprasatta with cheese and jam. The meats are cured by the owner in his upstate farm.  The onion jam is like crack.  We shared a pasta dish as an appetizer- chestnut pasta with pistachios.  Next time that will be my entree.  Main course I had Penne Carbon con Pollo.  The chicken was tender and moist, the homemade pasta was perfect al denté, and the sauce was delicious.  My wife had risotto which I couldn't help stealing.  Dessert we split tiramisu which was light and not overly sweet, and chocolate cake which was also very good.  I can't wait to go back because there was much more on the menu I want to try.  One final note- I saw some reviews from a couple of disgruntled guests who complained that the service was bad and the staff were rude.  Based on my own experience and the many reviews of others who were treated so well by the staff, if you had a bad experience, it's probably your own fault and you need to reevaluate your life.  This is going to turn out to be one of my favorite restaurants.  I give this fine establishment my highest recommendation. One of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The homemade pasta is incredible, and the sauces are unreal. I got the homemade chestnut flour pasta in a cream sauce and truffle oil with pistachios. It was unbelievable. This meal was better (and less expensive) than my meal at l'incontro trattoria across ditmars, and I like the homey, intimate feel at Ornella much more. Can NOT wait to go back! More...

Been here a couple times so far and love this place!  Their pastas have been amazing. We have had the pasta Castagna, Alla Matriciana, as well as others, and all have been great + generous portions.  They take their time getting your meal to you (in a good way) where you don't feel rushed and everything tastes fresh. The staff has always been friendly. This is a great local Italian spot in Astoria!  Won't go anywhere else for pasta around here. More...

We went based on recommendations from Astoria lifers. We went thinking we would only go on 10$ Thursday pasta night. And now we are Ornella lifers. We bring anyone who journeys to Astoria here. And If you are gluten-free like me, it's an ABSOLUTELY, no questions asked, must do. Gluten-FreeThere is plain gluten free penne for any of the dishes. The pasta does not taste GF and is simply delicious. the chickpea handmade bow ties is a GF dish and can be eaten with any of the amazing sauces (Pasta de Ceci)z the Pasta di Castagna is this pistachio option that is unreal. Heavy and flavorful. Other best options: my boyfriend says the gnocchi is his favorite. My cousins boyfriend swears that the black garlic spaghetti is like his grandmothers. If it's a special, worth it if you are an adventurer.BYOB on Wednesdays w regular prices, or BYOB w 15$ corking fee for Thursday $10 pasta night. Appetizer: get the burrata every time. The special is on mushrooms and it's delicious. And we love Giuseppe. He believes in quality food and his servers are just like him. They care about your food-gasm and will help you get there.Go. Not enough great things to say about this restaurant. I had been craving a good bowl of carbonara, so I had originally been in search of an Italian restaurant in Astoria that made carbonara properly, with an egg and not cream, but it actually proved to be quite difficult. Also being from New Jersey, I'm extremely jaded by all the ubiquitous "traditional" Italian restaurants that are so beyond sub-par, so I guess you could say I am picky about my Italian food. Finally stumbled upon Ornella, where the online menu says that they do, in fact, make carbonara the proper way. Upon a scan of the very good reviews and pictures of Ornella, I began to get very excited for all of the food, but most notably the chestnut pasta with brown butter pistachio sauce with a touch of cream and cheese. It seemed like my ideas carbonara were going out the window. My husband and I made last minute reservations on a Saturday night. There were several very positive and very notable aspects to the restaurant space.First and foremost, there was not a two-top table in sight. I don't know that I've ever seen that, let alone in New York. They were all four top tables. This means that even as a two person seating, you have much more room to enjoy your dinner, you are not sitting on top of other diners, listening in on their conversation. This was quite remarkable. Secondly, it was a full house and not an obnoxious din as you would expect. It was very pleasant, more like "bustling", but not obtrusive. Oh, and the place was very intimate and kinda romantic. Already, we were kinda won over.So I settled on the chestnut pasta brown butter, pistachios, cream, and cheese. It has that beautiful flavor of chestnuts, you taste the nuttiness also of the brown butter, then an occasional hint of pistachios. It was beyond to die for. I cannot wait to have it again. I have dreams of that pasta. My husband had a special: pappardelle with pork short ribs and mushrooms. It was also outrageous. Most restaurants don't know how to coax the flavor from mushrooms and more often than not end up inadvertently steaming them so they end up as a soggy water-laden mess. Not the case here at all. It was perfect. As for the last aspect of the visit: the service. Could not have been more perfect. It was the perfect balance of being taken care of and making sure we had everything and bussing anything that wasn't in use and also giving us our space. We never felt at any point that we were unwelcome and instead felt like we were truly being taken care of one hundred percent.I sincerely cannot wait to come back. And if I can't make it...perhaps some delivery will settle our cravings! Although if you can, make sure you enjoy a night to dine in. In fact, this place should absolutely not be limited to Astoria locals. This restaurant is more than worthy of a subway ride from Manhattan or Brooklyn.Thank you, Ornella, for a most wonderful date night! More...

My daughter recently moved to Astoria so we've been checking out some of the local dining spots. In the mood for Italian and after conducting a Google search of the area, decided on this place since I was able to get a time on Open Table. This is a family owned, smallish, narrow dining room that has been here for almost 10 years. When walking in the small bar is to the right. There isn't much room to wait while your table is ready. The owner passed out menus so you can make your decisions before being seated, although I'm one of those that needs a cocktail or wine before I even look at a menu. He kept us updated as to patrons paying their bill and that we would be seated shortly. We were finally seated 15 minutes past our reservation, but not bad considering it was a Saturday night with not that many tables available. The menu has a nice variety of appetizers, fresh pasta and entrees. We all had the burrata with tomato and spiced walnuts. My wife found it a bit salty, but I thought it was just fine. Wasn't as creamy as the typical burrata, but I like it when it isn't watery as many are. They are known for their chestnut flour pasta in a cream and pistachio sauce with truffle oil, but I opted for the Imbustata. This is a baked envelope shaped pasta filled with roasted veal, chicken, mushroom, mozzarella, spinach in a mascarpone tomato sauce. It was bursting with flavor. Highly recommended! The wine specials are a steal. Choice of $29 bottles of either Cabernet, Malbac or Shiraz. We had the Malbac and it was terrific. The server actually thought we just ordered one glass, not one bottle so he let us keep it at no charge due to our wait. A nice touch. They also provided limoncello shots "on the house". The appetizers came quickly, but you do need to request bread. The wait was longer between the appetizers and entree, but not overly excessive. A must is to visit the restroom. In what must be a first- the walls are plastered with NEGATIVE Yelp reviews with signs that state "someone doesn't like us". How funny is that? Dessert was Tartufo and expresso and we were on our way very satisfied customers. Give them a try. More...

Ornella is one of my favorite places to bring anyone - family and friends all feel so welcomed in this heart-warming place! The food is fantastic: classic Italian dishes. Speaking as a true NYC foodie, I love pasta night - it's a great bang for your buck! The service is also fantastic. There is never a lull ,no matter how busy pasta night gets. Let me preface this by saying this review is solely based on ordering for delivery and solely based on the food. I can't speak to the decor or the service at the restaurant. That being said, this may have been the best Italian delivery I've ever had! Being a family with a young child means not having the luxury of being able to go out to eat that often, as child care can be an issue. This was the case for our 4th Anniversary (last night). I ordered via Seamless and received a 25% off coupon! WOOT! Delivery was shockingly quick. I ordered at 6:46pm and my food arrived by 7:20pm (26 minutes earlier than expected)!!! The delivery guy was extremely friendly. The food was packaged really well and even the presentation in the plastic containers was done nicely. Now to talk about the food, we ordered:Apps: Caprese con Peperoni - Buffalo mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, roasted peppers and basil. The buffalo mozzarella pleasantly was tender, with just a hint of salt. Tomatoes were juicy and sweet. The roasted pepper and basil were very good as well. It came with a rather generous portion on balsamic vinegar on the side. The balsamic vinegar was thick and a perfect blend of sweet and tart.Duck Meatballs - Filled with cheese in orange and brandy sauce. This was actually my least favorite dish. The meatballs were tender and juicy, however I feel the duck flavor was lost in the mixture of breadcrumbs and the strong flavor of Brandy in the orange sauce. It is a play on a the classic Duck a la orange, but I didn't get any duck.  Pappardelle alla Bolognese -Large fettuccine with ground beef, pork, carrots, celery and tomato. DELICIOUS!! The pasta is fresh and due to delivery just a tad "over". I'm sure it's perfect at the restaurant. The Bolognese was hearty, and had a lot of depth. The carrots and celery give it added texture and works nicely in contrast with the silky smooth, tender pasta. It was different from Bolognese I've had before as it had a pinkish hue and tasted like cream had been added. I'm not Italian and am unsure if that's traditional or not. Regardless, it was AMAZING!!!!Short Ribs -Served in Maeira sauce with gnocchi. This was my favorite dish. The short ribs were cooked perfectly! The meat was perfectly tender and fell right off the bone, it was incredibly juicy and unctuous. I'm assuming the sauce it was braised was reduced and poured over the short ribs and gnocchi. It was rich, yet not too heavy. The gnocchi were perfect. Light and fluffy, yet still having a nice chew. The only thing I wonder about is the portion. I've seen pictures online and it comes with 3 portions of short rib, our order only came with two. Not a huge deal, but I am curious if the portions for delivery are different than if at the restaurant.   A nice surprise was the free brownie included in our order. It was a nice touch and much appreciated. Thank you Ornella for making our 4th Anniversary really special even though we had to celebrate it a home, ordering delivery. For anyone having a celebration at home and looking for a special meal for delivery this is your place!!! I guarantee we will come in person someday. More...

Really good! For some reason I would always pass by this place and didn't think it was any good. Finally went there last night. I ordered the Penne con Pollo, my friend got the linguini with clams. I went here last Saturday for the first time with my girlfriend for our date night, Onrella's surely did not disappoint. Upon entering the restaurant, the owner Guisseppe greeted us and we were sat by a server immediately. This is a Mom & Pop, type of authentic Italian restaurant and yes, the place is not that big but that's not always what you're looking for. Owner has put up print outs of his responses to any negative yelp reviews, some people may have not found it funny, but his responses show that they may have also been problem customers. If you are going here for the food, the food is absolutely excellent. - Duck Meatballs - This was delicious, make sure you put the orange type sauce on it. The raisins served with the sauce was a nice added touch. - Bianca Salad - Not your traditional salad but definitely a pleasant surprise. Basically a plate filled with mushrooms, artichokes, hearts of palm, parmesan cheese, and dressing. If you like this things like I do, than you will love this. - Gnocchi al Gorgonzola - GET THIS, seriously. This was one of the better Gnocchi dishes I have had in a long time. - Veal Boscaiola - I got this dish because I wasn't in the mood for pasta and honestly I think I missed out. Dish was good but after tasting the Gnocchi al Gorgonzola I realized I probably missed out on some excellent pastas. - Wine - Glasses and bottles are very responsible priced- Homemade Lemoncello - The restaurant also provided us with 2 complementary shots of lemoncello I expect that it was homemade like many Italian places do and have to say it was quite good. The only con I can say is that the service was not as good as I expected it would be. There was a large party that was there while we were dining and the wait staff looked a little understaffed so that could be the reason. However, our table was not checked on that much during the meal expect when we were finished eating. I am giving 5 stars because the quality of the food far out-weighed the slight neglect our table encountered. More...

This was my first time coming to the restaurant and it didn't disappoint. I started out with the soup of the day which was phenomenal and the Caesar salad. Seriously both were delicious. I also ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara. This was the first time I've ever eaten one but I truly enjoyed it. I've once before ordered delivery from here from Seamless and the Pasta Bolognese was one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten!!! This is why I walked 40 minutes in the rain to come here. But what is dinner without dessert? The in house tiramisu was so amazing I bought a second to bring home with me. And trust me, I'm picky when it comes to sweets. The service was great, friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I could say is that, don't order a latte with dessert. The coffee was not much to be desired. But after the entire meal, they gave me a glass of limoncello. It was delicious! I'm definitely returning and I recommend coming to anyone in Astoria or beyond. More...
