Absolute shambles of a service...from providing all the information on 24/03...to not hearing anything for 4 working days (no acknowledgment of receipt or any missing or incorrect elements which we think is at least fair to get an acknowledgement), then having to request a response to acknowledge receipt of the information and ask if anything was missing.
... It turns out that there was something they were waiting for which we'd had for a month! But they didn't ask nor say we needed to provide at that stage so we could've lost even more days. They are not proactive, they are slow and give you no confidence to deal with an email let alone a remortgage.
The tone, respect and general courtesy in all the emails was very poor. When we got in touch with the CEO who is also the "Clients Complaint Partner" he blamed the poor comms on the "44 completions Tom Wellings had to deal with and he is a good guy"... Tom also showed he did not show the level of respect to us by reading our emails and tried to muddy the waters as to confuse two subjects within one email and blame us by wanting a response within 24 hours but our emails were based upon two separate topics! Funny at the time, even funnier now!
Eventually we got our money back and were dealt with far better elsewhere. The funniest thing from it all was the CEO / Clients Complaint Partner Patrick Tedstone blaming us for trying to cause "confusion" in his team by directing our emails at him and not Tom Wellings, when in fact Patrick is the Clients Complaint Partner! He even names a solicitor in his team that we’d never heard of! This showed his level of confusion but goes to show how they dealt with us and if the CEO does that, what is the rest of the team like? Very funny indeed...then he gave us the insight that he works very hard by getting up at 6am before going on his holiday! Not a bad effort there Patrick!
As we said to them...you get what you pay for...my advice to anyone reading this review...please pay a bit more money and go elsewhere!

ORJ used to describe itself as a "tier 1" legal firm. I've dealt with dozens of legal firms, many based in the City, but ORJ has to be the worst by a long shot, so passing off as tier 1 in the legal 500 is misleading false advertising from the outset.
Since raising this to the regulator, I've noticed they've rescinded such absurd claims from their website.
My unwanted experience with ORJ came about when a previous business partner instructed ORJ to threaten me on a false pretext, following a souring of business ties. Mr Tedstone, who runs ORJ, first reached out to me verbally on a Sunday with a further recorded call taken at 8 pm. The agenda rapidly switched from the original dispute into something I had no forewarning over, so Mr Tedstone could perform acts of gaslighting.
When I questioned this, Mr Tedstone even admitted that an agenda should have been outlined prior.
Dispute aside, I have huge reservations over ORJ's conduct. I knew ORJ's client had no intention of reporting me to the police or taking me to court as their client's claims are bare lies. So it was very vexatious when Mr Tedstone kept raising the hypothetical matter of what a judge would think of me based on speculative accusations given to them by their client. However, Mr Tedstone demonstrated no grasp of the dispute. Something he admitted the week before when he egregiously pointed out, "Dow Jones isn't a real person" (I work in financial markets). Frankly, it was like telling me Father Christmas isn't a real person.
Mr Tedstone took glee when he realised I didn't have legal representation, naively seeing this as a weakness. Why would I want to waste good money on defending myself against such a belligerent lawyer when this would never end up in court? The real reason Mr Tedstone's client used ORJ was merely to threaten me with a lawyer in the hope that I would concede to their agenda under some element of duress. I speculate Mr Tedstone's actions may border on blackmail.
It seemed ORJ performed little in the way of fact-finding to validate their client's claims and proceeded to threaten me without due diligence. As I took issue with the conduct of ORJ, I requested a copy of this call under GDPR as a DSAR. The requests got repeatedly ignored for over a year until the regulator put Mr Tedstone in his place.
I believe Mr Tedstone did not want to share the call because Mr Tedstone is well aware it shows a strong element of malpractice, not to mention his lack of understanding makes him sounds like a moron. Mr Tedstone sounded elated when he realised I decided not to get legal representation and saw this as a signal to bully me. I understand the Law Society has many guidelines for those who may be litigants in person, and I don't believe engaging in schadenfreude forms any part of them.
When I confronted Mr Tedstone on his direct number, he spoke over me loudly in a raised voice, stating: "I am not your client!". This behaviour contradicts the claims on ORJ's homepage of Mr Tedstone being a "peacemaker".
Furthermore, ORJ had not implemented the "Regulated by the SRA" badge, which should be present on all legal firm's websites as of Dec 2019. They have only done this a year later because I raised this with the regulator - despite ORJ redesigning their website, as seen if you compare these snapshots from April and May 2020.

Mr Tedstone might come across as cocksure on the phone, but beneath this facade, his actions are impotent, failing to follow up on matters. Mr Tedstone seems to be happy to flout the regulatory requirements expected of him and remain under investigation by the SRA.

Purchasing your first house is supposed to be an exciting time and it was, no thanks to ORJ. They made the experience unnecessarily stressful. We had 7 people email us in regard to our house, I understand that one person cannot oversee it all but 7 people is asking for trouble and caused confusion. There were spelling errors within the paperwork that they hadn’t noticed. To top it off we were told twice that all funds had been received and we were due to collect our keys on a Monday, they emailed us on the Friday to say we were due to pay them another £1000. After phoning to complain I was disgusted at their lack of customer service, Katie was rude and sniggering at me and their manager Harjeet was so disrespectful and couldn’t have cared less about the difficult position they had placed us in. We have emailed an official complain but yet to hear anything back from them, we were given a 6 week timescale but understandably due to Covid-19 we expected a delay, we are still waiting to hear back from them. As a first time buyer, with pretty much no clue what was involved, ORJ made the process very simple for me. Anything I didn't understand was explained to me, and despite the slightly suspicious 1 star review that has been left on here, ORJ were very fast and efficient.
Quite reasonably priced as well compared to the other solicitors conveyancing fees I had seen before deciding on ORJ.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my family and friends.

If you find yourself in business trouble and need someone who can help, definitely call ORJ. I dealt with Patrick who was fantastic. He was not phased by the complexity of my problem and provided a strong and robust defence for me when I needed it the most. Where I was unable to defend myself he was able to stand up and fight for my rights and i felt that i truly had a champion on my side. This was proved to be correct when resolution was in my favour. I can't thank Patrick and ORJ enough and would recommend them heartily. Staff were always polite courteous and helpful despite my being mostly stressed out.
