I wish that I would have gone here from the start and I will definitely come here for any future alterations. I purchased my wedding dress from David's Bridal and let them do the alterations, but after three appointments it still didn't fit and they basically shrugged and told me there was nothing else they could do. I called Original Alterations and they were able to get me in on the same day, do the pinning in less than 10 minutes, and get it back to me in time for my wedding which was a quick turnaround. I also wrote down the wrong date for pickup, but they were so accommodating and let me come in anyway. The dress fits even better than I had hoped and they literally saved the day. The pricing was also reasonable and I think I would have probably saved money here vs David's. I am so thankful for them and couldn't recommend them more! More...

They are very kind and very knowledgeable. They get everything done in a timely manner and they did and amazing job! I went in with sleeves that were too small but also had very delicate material that was difficult and she knew exactly how to make it fit without disturbing the material and she chose the cheaper way to do it.

Great work, attention to detail, quality services. I was an OOT bride and she was super accommodating. The quality was great. I had a dress with a very long train and detailed lacework, and it turned out excellent after she basically rebuilt it for me (the boutique convinces you to size up, I really didn't need to and my entire dress was basically redone by her). Shamsi and her family are amazing! I brought my dress into her shop 2-3 weeks before my wedding, which was out of state, hoping and praying that she will be able to alter the dress in time without multiple fittings because my schedule was so tight. Mind you, my dress was about 2 sizes too big with A LOT of boning. She took the boning out completely for the fitting and put it back during alterations. My dress fit like a glove! When I went into her shop, the dress was heavy and hanging off of me and when I got it back it was a completely different dress (in a good way)! You have a lot of anxiety in planning a wedding and Shamsi beautifully checked off one of the most important things about my wedding. Thank you so much Shamsi!! They did such a fantastic job of transforming my mother's wedding dress into the contemporary version that I envisioned. The trim on the bottom of her dress was lace, and when I shortened the dress, they saved the trim and reattached it. Beautiful work! Thank you!! More...

Fast service and great attention to detail. I will ALWAYS give Original Alterations my business! First, they took me in on a whim for a bridesmaid dress. When I came to pick it up, Shamsi was on the phone with a bride in distress (the dress got butchered somewhere else). She did her best to calm the bride down, offer services, and figure out how to fix things. Although I pretty much walked out of there giving a thumbs up and a smile, all I could think was "if I am that bride, Shamsi is exactly who I would call!"Second, she NAILED my wedding dress on the first try. You can tell she takes great pride in her craft and wants it to be precise. She also coordinated my days so both my out of town mom and step mom could be present at each appointment. My wedding dress was from Klienfeld in New York and I was totally mismeasasured. She was able to take over 2.5 inches off of a fully detailed and Swarovski Crystal top that I thought would for sure have a seam. She was amazing like over the top deserves 10 stars. You couldn’t tell at all plus she shortened it and added a snap and I was out of there for a third of what I was ready to pay. She even saved some details from it to make a hair piece for my step daughters. She also made a dress for my niece from my sister in Laws dress and pillows too!! She’s the best ever. After finding an amazing wedding dress and that didn't fit the way I hoped I asked nearly everyone I knew if they could recommend someone to alter it! I came in to have an initial fitting and felt comfortable Shamsi knew how to take the dress in/up without losing any of the beautiful lace and beadwork that made the dress so special. I can’t say enough good things about this woman and her talent. Here is my crazy story...when my dress came in September of 2017, I tried it on, it fit perfectly but couldn’t take it home as it wasn’t paid off. Forward to April of 2018, I fall and break my leg 4 months away from our wedding, in bed for almost 2 months and gain quite a bit of weight. My dress was paid off at end of June 2018 and when I try it on it doesn’t even almost fit. We’re due to get married August 1st 2018. I brought my dress to Shamsi with 3 weeks to our wedding in sheer panic and this woman assured me we can fix my dress ahead of schedule. We are talking letting the hem out, taking out the zipper and adding in loops for a corset back, had me come back to assess that and then bustled the dress and added breast pads!!!! 2 appointments In just over 2 weeks. I literally cried in panic my dress would look terrible and at my final fitting I cried the same tears of joy I shed when I initially said yes to the dress. I fell in love with it all over again. I have never had anything altered in my life. I had no idea what I was doing when I called; but they seemed very professional over the phone, so I made an apt and went in alone. They pinned it all for me and told me due to all the layers and all that needed done it would cost a little bit more, I was a little bit sceptical of the price but after seeing the finished product on apt number two I didn't care. Shamsi was fabulous! I live out of town, and she was incredibly flexible (and quick) with getting my alterations done and having my dress ready based on when I would be in town. I got my dress second hand, and was really worried that it wouldn't end up fitting. Shamsi made it fit like a glove. When I came to pick it up, I noticed that the boning looked weird (it was in prior pictures, but I never really paid any attention to it). Right away, she fixed the problem, and within fifteen minutes I was walking away with a dress that fit me perfectly. She demonstrated how to do the bustle as well, which was really helpful for my mom. I've recommended her to my mother and mother in law, as well as my bridal party for any alterations they need! Shamsi and her staff did a wonderful job with my dress alterations. I only needed minimal work done - shortening the hem on 3 layers of fabric (including cutting off a small train) and tightening the straps (the dress is a v-neck style). The alterations were done perfectly and I'm pretty picky. You can tell Shamsi loves what she does and puts her heart into her work. It was easy to get an appointment and they worked around my scheduled of when I needed the dress back. I would suggest getting in early during peak wedding season in order for them to accommodate. My only complaint is that my dress was not pressed when I picked it up and was still quite wrinkly and full of static. Because of the silk material, they wanted me to come back in to have it steamed right before the wedding. I live in New Albany and didn't want to make the trip back to Dublin, so they showed me how to steam it myself and told me to use cheesecloth to avoid damaging the dress (since I own a clothes steamer) which was very helpful. I would highly, highly recommend Shamsi for any of your wedding dress alteration/seamstress needs. My wife and I got married in Columbus a few weeks ago (Sept 2017) and we had a last minute dress alteration that needed to be done ASAP. We live in California and had all of the dress alterations done there, but we were never totally satisfied with the work of our original seamstress. So the Friday before the Saturday wedding, we found Shamsi on yelp. I called her at 830a (before she opened officially) and explained our situation to her. She was happy to fit us in to her tight Friday schedule and she had the alternations done before noon!!! Moreover, the alterations were fantastic and made the dress look so, so much better!
