ORA Dog Training

From our first conversation, I knew that Bijan was the one to work with my Reese. My boy is a rescue Lab who came from an abusive situation. He has some reactivity issues which escalated during our lengthy relocation process to Florida. His needs were greater than my abilities, I felt a residency program would best meet our needs. We were very fortunate to find Bijon and ORA dog training. After we adopted a puppy, frustration quickly grew into our home. We contact Bijon and enroller our puppy (and ourselves!) into the ORA Puppy program. Bijon came to the house and send over two hours with us that first appointment. He showed us and help institute structure and rules, and almost immediately began to see results. The other weekly lessons we had with Bijon and work we did over the course the the next few weeks continued to provided welcome results.
A few months later, we enrolled our dog into the Residency Program. Our dog while still a puppy was overly hyper and didn't really know how to chill in the house or go on a calm walk without pulling and pulling the leash. After 4 weeks with Bijon and ORA (he stayed an extra week cause he wasn't quite ready to come home) our dog came home with a lot more structure and obedience. He no longer pulls on his leash, we even can spend time off leash, without (too much) fear of him bolting.
Bijon really took the time to explain everything to our family, especially our two young boys in a way they could understand.

There were lots of trainers to choose from, but I chose Bijan to help teach me and my Brussels Griffon puppy, Paddington Bear! Bijan was the finest example of a caring, patient, person. We were struck by Bijan's evident rapport with the dogs, his credentials, and were delighted to see that he lives very close to us. I called Bijan and he took so much time to talk to me and explain his program. I knew that we were on the right path. His communication skills were excellent throughout the entire process. I had no hesitation in turning our dog Vincent over because I knew that this was going to be life changing for all of us.
I loved seeing Vincent in videos working with Bijan and his assistant. It was further reassurance that we had made the right decision. The biggest turning point was when Bijan brought Vincent back to our home and we got trained too. And the best part is that Bijan is accessible and encourages questions. I have so much more confidence in working with Vincent now and I see that he looks to me to be in charge. Vincent and I are both enjoying our walks and training now. He is a much happier dog. We chose ORA Dog Training after researching dog training programs in the area, reading the reviews, and then speaking with a few dog owners who had used Bijan to train their dog. Frankly, it was the dog owner’s enthusiasm that sold on the program. We knew that it was best for both us and our rescue pup Koko to get trained. We did the boarding training and, although we missed the dog, this was the absolute right decision. Bijan took an extremely fearful dog and helped her to better adapt to the world. Koko would not even say “boo” to my husband before the training and now her tail wags and doesn’t shy away. Our dog went to Bijan knowing no commands and being extremely fearful. The dog he returned to us has more confidence, and really looks to us to help guide her through her days. Short Review: Absolutely amazing! Highly, highly, highly recommend for you and your fury friend!

Long review: I was lucky enough to have met Bijan through a very close mutual friend, and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with him before even discussing dog training of any kind. One day, while complaining about my dog’s pulling problem, Bijan and several other friends encouraged me to bring my beast to Bijan and the fix would be quick and simple. I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first, I had done a decent amount of research, am lucky to have a dog who is a fast learner, and (unbiasedly) pretty intelligent.
To give you some additional color, I did not walk the beast, the beast 100% walked me. I was always nervous that he would see something of interest and take off without me being able to control him. Dangerous for both of us. Additionally, walking the beast was an absolute misery..until..our first session with Bijan. After just one session, a few quick walking and communication fixes, the beast was walking like the well behaved stud I knew he could be! He stands right at my side, no longer pulls me into every bush and towards every dog we meet – the transformation was INCREDIBLE. Working with Bijan over the subsequent weeks taught me that I really did not understand how to communicate properly with my dog, and that the messages I might be sending him – and he was sending me – were being misinterpreted on both ends. I am so thankful for having the chance to work with Bijan and for helping him transform my relationship with my dog into a healthier and better communicated one! Bijan’s knowledge is extremely extensive and I feel so fortunate that I was able to meet such a competent, wonderful dog trainer prior to our first lesson together. We brought our [then] 3.5 month old Golden Retriever pup to B&B Dogworks for a 2 week Board + Train and could not be happier!

Bijan taught our little guy ALL his commands (sit, down and place with implied stay, free, crate, come, heel) no more dilly dallying at potty time, he’s a JOY to walk – no more pulling on the leash, crate anxiety seems to have completely disappeared, he’s significantly calmer around my 4 year old daughter and her friends, he eats his food when we give it to him instead of picking at it for hours… the list goes on and on….

Our ‘Go Home’ session was held in Prospect Park where Bijan spent 2 hours teaching us all of Bucky’s new ‘tricks’ – we were in shock at what he'd accomplished in just 2 short weeks! Our little beastie was transformed into a complete and utter gentleman! Bijan definitely went above and beyond our expectations.

You can tell Bijan loves what he does and it’s reflected in his results. We’re so excited to continue working and building on this incredible foundation he’s laid for us.

My pet completed her training program with Bijan in December of 2017. Choosing a dog trainer was not easy! Thankfully Bijan came HIGHLY recommended by my dog walker. After reading reviews and having an initial phone conversation with Bijan I knew he would be the perfect fit for my pet. His depth of knowledge, enthusiasm for what he does and commitment to you and your pet is clear from the get go. My favorite part of the program was seeing the immediate progress Bijan was able to facilitate with my WILD, anxious, frantic, all over the place little pit bull. His patience, technique and persistence were impressive. My doubt (in my pet, not Bijan) was immediately erased. My relationship with my dog has been changed forever. I brought my crazy, crazy pup (Clancy) outside to meet Bijan for a board/train. Clancy immedietly jumped on him and spazzed out! I went back inside to grab something I’d forgotten, and came back out to find my dog laying at Bijan’s feet, looking up at him while Bijan stood calmly waiting. I knew this would be good for my dog.
After one session here, Clancy was an expert at recall, going to his “place” whenever I told him to, and was free of his food aggression. Clancy returned to me a very obedient dog, without having his spirit broken!
ORA is pretty awesome. My only complaint is that they are no longer in NYC;) More...

I met Bijan about 5 years ago through a rescue I work with. What is so wonderful about Bijan is he is willing to take on some of the most difficult and challenging dogs that other trainers are not able or willing to take on. I watched him take on many dogs from rescues and turn those dogs around. I referred many clients to Bijan over the years and everyone was very pleased with his results. When we met Flora she was a year-and-a-half old pitbull (we suspect she's actually half pig, half dog). She was sweet and smart but also 55 pounds and full of energy.

We read amazing things about Bijan and hired him to teach Flora how to walk down the street like a lady, rather than nearly ripping our arms out of their sockets. He did that and more.

What's so amazing about Bijan is that he doesn't just train your dog, he teaches YOU how to. So we did one session on walking, and others working on all sorts of other commands and behaviors. She's remarkably well-behaved. Everyone says so. We're so bummed that Bijan moved to Florida, but with what we learned from him, we're empowered to continue to help Flora be what she was born to be - the most amazing dog in the entire world.

In sum, the basic dog program was amazing, as was the additional work we did on getting Flora off leash and to play nice with other dogs (and general refreshers).

We miss you Bijan! Please come hang with the three of us soon!!!

Mika was 9 months and 50 lbs when I got her. She was scared and likes to jump on me. Getting her out of the crate was a nightmare. She started to frustrate me as I do not know how to deal with her behavior but I know I am not giving up on my rescue.
I made the right decision when I called Bijon of ORA. Bijon helped me how to deal with her behaviors. I felt like Both Mika and I got trained during our sessions.
She is now getting very confident, obedient and fun to be with. I discovered how smart she is.
Not only dealing with the unwanted behaviors but I also learned a lot with what is good for Mika in terms of food and things to play with. I acquired a great deal of information during our training. Would I go for another training session with ORA? Definitely. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a trainer. More...

I brought my dog (3.5 year old boxer/lab mix) to B&B Dogworks because he pulled on the leash, had separation anxiety, and needed work on his recall. He pulled so badly that my family refused to walk him. After one session with Bijan, he stopped pulling on the leash. My father, who had just had a knee replacement, was able to walk him without any issues. During the sessions after that we continued doing work on the leash, but also added in recall and some exercises to help with his separation anxiety. The work we did made big improvements in Rocky's confidence and he listens much better. He even leaves me alone while I'm eating!

We did the train-away program with Bijan and joke and call it the dog's lobotomy. Our dog went in fearful, reactive, and confused about what we wanted from him. He came out calm and excited to learn and please. Bijan takes great care to make sure you know how to continue the training at home. You can tell how much he cares about the dogs and knows his stuff! I came across ORA Dog Training under the recommendation of a friend. I was shopping around for a trainer that I felt would fit both myself as well as my puppies, (I have two Yorkies). The trainer's name is Bijan. He is incredibly friendly and super positive. I loved how he interacted with my pups. I was concerned because many trainers appeared too "rough" for what I wanted in my young puppies. He handled them with the same care I do and was able to accomplish the training needed. Not only did my boys learn new commands such as: "Sit", "Place", "Down", etc, but as a parent, I learned a great deal as well. I learned how to further the dogs' training as well as simple information I did not know. Having been through several training sessions with Bijan and the puppies, I feel like it has strengthened out bond. It has made the small difficult things very simplified as well. Not sure where to start but Bijan has been our saving grace. My husband and I rescued a 2.5 year old dog from the Manhattan ACC in the Spring of 2015. After meeting her and falling in love we brought her home. All of her behavioral tests were great per the shelter so did not think twice about adding her to our family. As soon as we got her to our apartment we quickly realized this was not the case and that this poor dog had been abused and was very fear aggressive with both people and other dogs. She was very ill with pneumonia when we adopted her so it was not until we nursed her back to health that her true personality and fears came through to their full extent. Not going to lie I was scared the first few months not knowing how to handle this situation and in one of my breaking moments I found B&B Dogworks on Yelp and gave him a call. He stayed on the phone with me that night for 45 minutes, asking questions, giving sound advice and reassuring me that it would be OK. At that point we had not signed up for any lessons but this is just the type of person Bijan is and the type of business he runs. Needless to say he is not only our dog trainer still almost 2 years later but a friend as well. We could not even walk our dog Puck when we first got her and now she is a great pack walker. Bijan does in home training weekly so that Puck is in her environment along with board and trains when we need to go out of town. He is ALWAYS there. We have made major progress and have learned alot about rescues along the way. In time we have worked on her confidence and shown her that people are not scary. She can with proper introductions now interact nicely with other dogs and is getting used to visitors coming into our home. We cannot thank Bijan enough for what he has done and continues to do. Bijan's approach to dog training is very pragmatic and focused on communicating in a style that is accessible to your dog.  My 5.5 month old puppy spent a week with Bijan for board and train.  Our walks are much better.  She responded to well to his approach and has stopped pulling and running up to every dog and person on the street.  I feel like the greater challenge than Bijan's training of Bindi was the training he had to do with me, but he was patient and encouraging and eventually I got the hang of it!  The time he takes to pass on his work to you is the most valuable part of the experience.  We will be back again soon for another week! Upon becoming new dog parents to a Dandie Dimmout Terrier named Winston, I often found myself saying "no one knows my dog like I do." Through the training and guidience of Bijan, owner of B&B Dogworks, we realized that we weren’t truly understanding Winston. Bijan trained us to understand our dog’s needs and natural tendencies and the proper way to handle them so that we could live happier lives as dogowners, and most importantly, that Winston could live a happier dog life! While many dog owners might be proficient handlers, Bijan possessed a skillset and information in which he mastered, and the gap between a well-meaning, intelligent dog owner and a trained professional.Bijan is a great listener and is interested in your take on your dog's characteristics, tendencies, personal history, strengths and weaknesses. Rather than immediately dictating who and what needs to change, Bijan starts by sitting down and talking through expectations, concerns and philosophies before starting any actual training or behavior modification work.Bijan was a great communicator both in terms of listening to our questions and concerns as well teaching us and our dog. We were enthused that he wanted to know everything possible about the dog's background so that he could more quickly and effectively identify root causes and implement a positive training protocol.Bijan always included us in the training. He would constantly and effectively communicate what he was doing, and one of his primary goals was for us to step in and eventually take over the actual training with our dog, Winston. Bijan does not only train your dog, but more importantly, he trains you to properly guide your dog.When we first met with Bijan, Winston was a total brat! Did what he wanted, when he wanted, and didn’t understand what we were trying to communicate to him. To be honest, we were skeptical as to how much progress was possible with our disobedient pup, but like magic, after the first hour-long session at our apartment, the progress was amazingly positive! We couldn’t even walk Winston without him sitting on the sidewalk and resisting. Bijan taught our little guy ALL his commands (sit, down and place with implied stay, free, crate, come, heel) no more dilly dallying at potty time, he’s a JOY to walk – no more pulling on the leash, crate anxiety seems to have completely disappeared, he’s significantly calmer around my 4 year old daughter and her friends, he eats his food when we give it to him instead of picking at it for hours… the list goes on and on.Our 'Go Home Session' was held in Prospect Park where Bijan spent 2 hours teaching us all of Bucky’s new tricks – we were in shock at what he'd accomplished in just 2 short weeks! For the majority of dog owners, choosing the right dog trainer is one of the most important decisions they will have to make regarding their dog.

Upon becoming new dog parents to a Dandie Dimmout Terrier named Winston, I often found myself saying "no one knows my dog like I do." Through the training and guidience of Bijan, owner of B&B Dogworks, we realized that we weren’t truly understanding Winston. Bijan trained us to understand our dog’s needs and natural tendencies and the proper way to handle them so that we could live happier lives as dogowners, and most importantly, that Winston could live a happier dog life! While many dog owners might be proficient handlers, Bijan possessed a skillset and information in which he mastered, and the gap between a well-meaning, intelligent dog owner and a trained professional.

Bijan is a great listener and is interested in your take on your dog's characteristics, tendencies, personal history, strengths and weaknesses. Rather than immediately dictating who and what needs to change, Bijan starts by sitting down and talking through expectations, concerns and philosophies before starting any actual training or behavior modification work.

Bijan was a great communicator both in terms of listening to our questions and concerns as well teaching us and our dog. We were enthused that he wanted to know everything possible about the dog's background so that he could more quickly and effectively identify root causes and implement a positive training protocol.

Bijan always included us in the training. He would constantly and effectively communicate what he was doing, and one of his primary goals was for us to step in and eventually take over the actual training with our dog, Winston. I brought my dog (3.5 year old boxer/lab mix) to B&B Dogworks because he pulled on the leash, had separation anxiety, and needed work on his recall. He pulled so badly that my family refused to walk him. After one session with Bijan, he stopped pulling on the leash. My father, who had just had a knee replacement, was able to walk him without any issues. During the sessions after that we continued doing work on the leash, but also added in recall and some exercises to help with his separation anxiety. The work we did made big improvements in Rocky's confidence and he listens much better. I was lucky enough to have met Bijan through a very close mutual friend, and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with him before even discussing dog training of any kind. One day, while complaining about my dog's pulling problem, Bijan and several other friends encouraged me to bring my beast to Bijan and the fix would be quick and simple. I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first, I had done a decent amount of research, am lucky to have a dog who is a fast learner, and (unbiasedly) pretty intelligent. To give you some additional color, I did not walk the beast, the beast 100% walked me. I was always nervous that he would see something of interest and take off without me being able to control him. Dangerous for both of us. Additionally, walking the beast was an absolute misery..until..our first session with Bijan. After just one session, a few quick walking and communication fixes, the beast was walking like the well behaved stud I knew he could be! He stands right at my side, no longer pulls me into every bush and towards every dog we meet - the transformation was INCREDIBLE. Working with Bijan over the subsequent weeks taught me that I really did not understand how to communicate properly with my dog, and that the messages I might be sending him - and he was sending me - were being misinterpreted on both ends. I am so thankful for having the chance to work with Bijan and for helping him transform my relationship with my dog into a healthier and better communicated one! Bijan's knowledge is extremely extensive and I feel so fortunate that I was able to meet such a competent, wonderful dog trainer prior to our first lesson together.
