Utterly appalling. Aside from the design service, and the bathroom installer himself (whom were both third-party and unaffiliated with Opun), there is no aspect of our experience that can be described in a positive light.
They were disorganised, inconsistent, unprofessional, totally unable to complete the project, and then downright threatening.
Our bathroom got off to a bad start where Opun delayed the start date three times with various excuses about jury service, and broken-down vans. We were never given more than two days notice that the start-date was to change but they were always apologetic.
Whilst the work was undertaken the house was uninhabitable - something we had planned for and arranged accommodation to cover. The project then overran significantly with the house left uninhabitable for several weeks, without any work taking place for many days at a time.
We were given absolute assurances that the work would be finished on time, and when it was not we were given regular promises of new completion dates, which were then also be missed. This happened several times, we were never given more than a couple of hours warning that the new timings would be missed. On one occasion I even received a call lamenting that the project was finally complete only to return home (with my family in tow) to find the house still knee-deep in rubble, the power off, and the toilet disconnected.
Opun also attempted to add additional costs to the bill several times whilst work was on-going. Each time I was left to dig back through our communications to demonstrate to them that - actually - they were trying to charge extra for work they had already included in their quote. They attempted to add more than 25% to the overall invoice in this way.
Eventually we got back into the house to find they had not finished the work, and in the process of doing so, had left significant damage to the property. Albeit at that point, the house was - finally - habitable again. When this was flagged with them, they sent over their representative to ask me to sign off the project as completed so that they could access the final payment from their finance partner.
Quite sincerely: I have never dealt with a company who conducted themselves in the outright vile way that Opun did during the protracted period that then followed. I wracked up months of stress whilst they fired off threatening letters and spurious and inflated invoices. These came whilst simultaneously admitting that they had not finished the work, and would not be doing so. Nevertheless: they issued invoices for the complete project cost (plus additional work that had not been asked for, agreed, nor undertaken), and then threatened to enforce them. This is a practice which is illegal in the UK and was clear harassment.
Around ten months later Opun attempted to enlist the services of a specialist third-party company, tasking them with resolving around 60% of the problems that Opun's team had left behind. When the company visited the property, they were very critical of the work that Opun had carried out, and outright declined to undertake the work, stating it was 'unrecoverable'.
Opun's project management team contemporaneously sent out further threatening demands for full payment, for the work that they had not completed.
What should have been a straightforward bathroom project drew out well over a year, and has been only resolved now with the involvement of their CEO, senior staff at John Lewis, a solicitor, and an insurmountable amount of stress.
Aside from the mountain of costs we incurred in being unable to return home (and the extra cost you might appreciate trying to frantically arrange last-minute additional accommodation incurs), we were eventually left thousands of pounds out of pocket due to their negligence and the damage they caused. This has never been fully realised or remunerated by Opun.
Opun never finished the project, they caused significant damage trying. There was absolutely no advantage to using them, I genuinely regret ever starting the process.

We used Opun for a complete top to bottom refurbishment of our house. Personally I found the company professional and a pleasure to deal with compared with our previous building experiences. We spent a lot of time looking at building companies and doing our research before deciding on Opun. I found them to be priced competitively compared with other builders in the area. We had an excellent project manager called Steve who was really worth his weight in gold. As with any build there are always issues and challenges with building work but it very much felt like Steve and Opun were there to try and get these issues sorted out. I found Opun kept us up to date on the online portal and were prompt to get back to us whenever we had a query either by phone or email. We were very happy with the build quality and a year later everything works as it should. We did have a few snagging issues including a loose tile, a couple outdoor tiles that cracked and an issue with one light. However there was absolutely no problem getting Opun back to fix the faults. Their guarantee is for 5 years which is one of things that sold me on this company. We phoned them about 1 year after the build to repair the faults and they were sorted quickly. We had our bathroom completed through Opun, although there were a few hiccups along the way we are really pleased with the overall look and finish of the bathroom. The designer understood our requirements and was able to bring this to light with the design. The fitters had full respect of our home during the install and tidied up after themselves at the end of each day, which i appreciated greatly. From start to finish we were very pleased with how Opun project managed the renovation of our bathroom. Our dedicated Opun assistant was only ever a phone call or email away and always able to help with any question or advice that we needed. The Opun team of professionals who came to the house - from the initial survey and design appointment to the signing off of the project - were all friendly and knowledgeable. The project ran to time and within budget. The installer - and his team - was fantastic - working around the needs of a family! We recently had to use our Opun warranty as we had a pipe leaking in our kitchen which Opun installed 2 years ago (note: the leaking pipe had nothing to do with the workmanship of the kitchen installation). Using the warranty process with Opun was simple, quick and effective. Kathryn, the lady who worked in the office, was a pleasure to deal with straightforward and was efficient at communicating updates on the process. We first came across Opun at the London Homebuilding and Renovation Show 2017. We had been thinking of carrying out some renovation works (replacing the kitchen and two bathrooms, installing underfloor heating and decorating the whole house) but we didn’t know where to start - particularly in terms of finding a main builder. We also really liked the sound of Opun being our sole contact, taking away the need to deal with multiple contractors / consultants and being a single point of responsibility. There was also a focus on Opun being a useful service for professionals with limited time during the working week to call around for quotes and products and for whom instant communication is both important and necessary.Things moved a little slowly at first - we arranged to have designs for our two bathrooms, and although the designer was helpful we were left waiting for a long time before our designs were ready. The portal (instant communication via an app) worked really well, however, and the Opun staff were always helpful and kept us updated.Our works started in March 2018 and we were really happy with the Opun trade partners and the Opun team who were our main contacts - area manager Andrew and Debbie in the head office. Both were helpful, knowledgeable and available immediately if we had any questions. There was no waiting around for a call back and any emails / messages were returned within a matter of hours (and often minutes).We had some issues on a part of the project which Opun were not involved with, but Andrew and Debbie were also on hand to give help and guidance on that too, even though it was going beyond what they had to do.There were a few issues around communication at one stage of the project, but we later learned that this coincided with John Lewis acquiring the business - which is clearly an endorsement of what Opun has to offer.The reasons for no 5 star review are:- The issues we had at the start of the project in terms of the time it took to receive designs and find a trade partner. I believe this was a blip, as the service and response times from Opun after that were very impressive.- The short period of uncertainty we had around the time of the John Lewis acquisition (although clearly a one-off, so a personal issue rather than a problem going forward).- A smaller point - the app stopped working for me in early 2018. I have an up-to-date phone operating system and app, so no idea why. However, there is instant phone and email access to the Opun team.The main pros:- Excellent customer service and instant communication and updates- Excellent quality of work from trade partners - we have now been in our house for 3 months post-work and it still feels great to come home to it.- Certainty on scope and cost - there is a focus on setting out exactly what the works will entail (and what they won’t), which allows for a fixed fee with no hidden charges or surprises. Opun did 2 bathrooms for me in a small flat. A big job for a small place. I am delighted with the outcome. Not surprisingly there were some bumps along the way but they sorted everything out without any drama. The trade partners were considerate and as clean as you can be with that kind of a job. I was away travelling for most of the time they were working on the place and I left them a key to get on with it. They don't get 5 stars because they had some problems with the stock ordering. But... they apologised and sorted things out as quickly as they could.This is an update 10 months on. One of the basins started leaking into the cabinet it was mounted in. I have just had Opun construct a cloakroom in my hall in a space which looked almost too small to contain one and I am delighted with the result.
The design team gave me many good ideas and the surveyor was able to overcome several difficulties regarding the connections to water, electricity etc. Throughout this time I was kept in touch with the various possibilities and presented with the different choices.
The two builders/electricians/plumbers were a delight to have in the house. They arrived promptly every day at the given time in spite of the snow we suffered that week and they didn’t leave until they had completed the planned work. They tidied up after their work each day and explained what they would be doing the next day. At all times they worked efficiently, completed the work to a high standard and couldn’t have been more helpful, e.g. replacing an outside lightbulb without my asking them to do it and mending the strap on my walking stick.
During the work I was constantly kept In touch with the Opun team by telephone or internet and had several visits from the surveyor so that I always knew exactly what was happening.
At one time, when a delivery was missing a component, the mistake was rectified immediately.
The original quote was adhered to and I am only too happy to recommend their work and care.

I had a major refurbishment to do. Top to bottom. Opun were the lowest quote and took care of everything. I ended up with an excellent result with a 5 year guarantee which you can hardly get anywhere. The first and most important thing was choosing the right builder. Because they have an ongoing relationship with him it encourages him to do the job professionally. In Safespec they chose well, something I wouldn't have known how to do. I don't know if they had to 'manage' Safespec, but I didn't, which is the whole point. And the builders were a pleasure to deal with throughout. Very impressed with Opun. Everything from the quality of the work, the customer first focus and the speed of completion. We had a tight, immovable deadline (the forthcoming birth of our daughter!) and Opun really stepped up the urgency to help us hit this tight deadline. When we first came across Opun for our extension & loft conversion, my wife was easily swayed by the messaging. What's not to like? No hassle, they manage the project, build it to standard, expert design... I think for her it was a way of keeping me out if and let "professionals" manage it. So yes I was sceptical. I agreed to let one of their experts come over and judge them in person. The "surveyor" that came to our house had a lot of experience in home conversions and not only did he advise us masterfully on our plan for our home, he even gave me a couple of pointers on my daughter's project with another builder that is going side-ways... Personally I felt so reassured with this company because the man they sent out clearly knew what he was talking about and was able to give price guidelines for us to assess realistic from fantasy!Couple of days after that visit we received a full quotation with plans and 3D pictures of the final results. Being German, it is not just a cliche that we like efficiency and numerical accuracy ;-). Working with Opun was exactly what was on the tin: they managed the project for me and even though they were in constant communication, I never felt it was a chore or a hassle. In a way I saw myself as spectating decision maker, I liked that! The one thing that stood out for me was the quoting. Like most people I assumed that, of course, it was going to be more. So, being the sensible person that I am, I added 20% to the quote when I was budgeting - despite Opun's assurances that this would not be necessary as they never change a quote, I just didn't want to risk it and get annoyed at the end. I also could not quite believe it, given my past experiences. I have never been as delighted to admit that I was wrong than I was after the project was complete! They did completed the work beautifully, had been able to give lots of good advice and tips on the way, and charged me the exact number that was on the quote. Having any work done to one's home can seem daunting.
So when my wife wanted our bathroom changed, I wanted to delay this as much as possible. My excuse was: "I 've got no time to manage the project nor do I have head space for the headache". She came across Opun... I admit I was skeptical at first. Their pitch is great but could they deliver? Truth is... they did: friendly, professional and reliable. Leaving out the quality of the work done, which was stellar, I want to focus on the experience which I feel was extra-ordinary. They managed the project masterfully, giving me the feeling I had a PA ( I wish!!) managing it for me but keeping me fully up-to-date at all times. I had one key point of contact who was fantastic ( thank you Debbie!) throughout the project. All the people from the Opun who visited my home ( their designer, surveyor and tradesmen) all were professional, tidy and punctual. Inviting strangers in your house is always tricky, Opun set the scene in the first call where they described how the whole process would work, who would come to my house when and how they have been fully accredited and DBS checked! Having young children in the house, this really build some trust. I would recommend them without reservation and am happy to give you more detail around my experience.

After a bad experience with a builder the last time I had some work done on my house, I wanted the reassurance of knowing I had somewhere to go if I had problems this time. I also wanted to make the experience as hassle-free as possible. While no house-improvement project is ever completely hassle-free, my experience with Opun was pretty close and gave me peace of mind throughout. They dealt with everything from finding the excellent workmen, through checking the quote and signing off the work, and paying the invoice was very straightforward. Below was the situation that I was under before Opun was assigned to complete my home improvement:
I had major decoration to do within my 3 bed home, such as painting, decorating, tiling and front door furniture’s to complete within a set tight time scale (2 weeks).
As usual I package the works and sent it out to several independent companies for quotation. Taking time off work for scheduled appointments that was never kept by the independent companies, I even had one company who had cancelled 1 hour before he was due. This was so frustrating!!!
This led me to browse the website for other companies, then I came across OPUN. WOW what happen next I never looked back.
Opun was my saviour, the phone call conversation with Jena was warm and welcoming. Jena reassured me that the time scales can be met without the quality suffering or lacking. So an appointment was made. Opun representative turn up on time and walk around the scope of works to give a price, he even made suggestions that made me save money without compromising safety and quality.. (I am all for that).
The Opun team consisted of a Site Manager, Project Manager and of course Jena. They kept in regular communication at all times via the Opun app. All communication via the app was clear and decisive.
Yes I would use Opun again to manage my plan works :-)
Oh yeah all the works is guaranteed for 5 years...
