We hired Ontree to remove a century elm tree that had died of dutch elm disease. The tree was located in a tight space between our house and our neighbours. Because of the size and sentimental value of the tree we wished to save as much of the trunk as possible to have it sawn into board lumber. The Ontree team were amazing. Using a crane to reach in to the tree, they removed the upper - and massive- branches before moving an over 3000 lb ca. 12 ft. length of the trunk into a waiting disposal bin I had arranged, for subsequent transfer to a sawmill. The work was all done smoothly, on time, on budget and with not a trace of debris left on our property, nor on the street where the upper branches were "dismembered" for the chipper. The team even humoured my neighbour and me as sidewalk superintendents!

From customer service to quote to actual work done, I have nothing but positive things to say about this company. I recently removed all the trees and brushes in my backyard. I contacted quite a few tree services companies and private contractors and Ontree was the last one who came for estimate. The price was very reasonable. After I decided to hire them, it took me another 2 weeks before they actually came to my house. But hey, good things come to those who wait. They came in as professionals, fully equipped, highly trained and extremely knowledgeable. Not to mention their experience as one of the four crew members, the climber, John has been doing this for 30 years. They also took care for my property, surrounding the grinding machine with multiple pieces of plywood to stop the chips from flying around. As for the special circumstances: some of my trees had grown into the old wire fence which makes it difficult for them to do the job. However, from the beginning to the end, they didn't complain about anything. They just found a way to cut the wire fence open and remove the trees without asking for anything. And even when I requested extra work, they were happy to do it with very fair extra charge. What is more, after they finished, no one urged me to pay. Instead, I just received an invoice in the email quietly couple days later. This review is long overdue. We used OnTree to cut a huge dead tree in our backyard, then a few yeas later I called OnTree to cut down a arge overgrown tree at the front. There was no need to obtain 3 quotes from other companies for the 2nd tree a few years later because OnTree did a great job for us before.The written quotes provided were well written, and detailed.
Because of the ice storm this past wintertime, they were very busy and we were told it would take approximately 6 weeks for them to cut the tree. That wasn't a problem. OnTree was worth the wait.
The guys showed up on time, the trees were cut to ground level, and they also and cleaned up before they left. I highly recommended OnTree More...

Great customer service, both on the phone and at the door. I had a dead tree (ice storm) and 2 stumps from other shrubs to grind down. I thought I might be left with empty holes or woodchipped filled holes. Not so, they put great soil in, raked the area, and cleaned the driveway and sidewalk with a blower. Very happy! More...

Ontree cut back a very overgrown maple and an elderly silver birch both of which were highly likely to interfere with electrical wires come winter. They did a great job, sympathetic to accomodating our wishes with the needs of the tree. They did the work in our absence, other than neatly cut back trees meeting our demands, there was no evidence of mess. Efficient, timely and followed up on, a great service was given. I did many estimates and this company was not the most expensive nor the cheaper but I liked their professionalism during the estimate phase. Excellent phone service and on time for the estimate.
I had to have 2 fruit trees, about 20+ years old removed as they were no longer productive.
They came on time, took down the trees, cleaned up, missed the wires that one tree overhung, ground the stump to 12 inches below ground at an extra cost but really worth it. They cleaned up the chips from stumper and filled the hole with topsoil.

A very professional enterprise, "Ontree" provided a prompt written estimate for the work. They postponed the job on the first scheduled day as the ground was too wet after a heavy rainfall, but then the crew arrived on the rescheduled day and completed the job very efficiently in less than 3 hours, in spite of light rain. Stumps were all ground down to 12 inches below ground as agreed, and all material was removed and put through the chipper on site. The yard cleanup was impeccable and the work done with mininal interruption and noise to the neighbourhood. The office staff was also friendly and prompt in responding to our inquiries.
The cost of the job was reasonable.

Ontree provided prompt estimates for the removal of the 7 trees and shrubs, grinding the stumps to 12" below ground and disposal of all brush and chips. Jody, the estimator, was very friendly, professional and knowledgeabl and the office staff was also very responsive to our inquiries.
In spite of light rain the crew arrived on the scheduled day and professionally cut down the trees and shrubs. They were very careful not to damage nearby roofs and eaves. The material was chipped on site, and the work was completed in less than 3 hours with minimal noie and disruption to the neighbourhood. Their clean-up was impeccable and we were impressed by the quality of work provided.
The price for the job was very reasonable.

Our arbourist of ten years priced himself out of our budget at the same time a neighbour (a professional gardener) had major tree work done by ONTree. She recommended them highly. ONTree/Jody Steiger responded quickly to our phone call. He was generous with tree advice (even trees unrelated to our job) and supported our conservative approach (prune, don't chop down). I have an old magnolia that needed a good trim. It was also diagnosed with magnolia scale. Ontario Tree Experts came and gave the tree a great trim, cleaning up well. I had 2 Manitoba Maples in my backyard , one of which was dead. Ontario Tree Experts offered a good price to take one down and to prune the second one. They did the job when they were supposed to and my neighbour who watched them said they were quick and efficient. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards. There was quite a stump left however, making that piece of ground unusable. I would have expected them to take it down to ground level. More...
