I'm so very satisfied with On Safari.  As an office manager for an office of 100 we're constantly ordering food for meetings or employee events. I waited too late for our Halloween Happy Hour and wasn't able to use our regular caterer due to their availability. In a last minute dash to find heavy appetizers for 100 picky eaters with various food restrictions, I stumbled upon On Safari. Thank goodness! Not only were they able to accommodate my last minute request they had the cutest themed appetizers that fit everyone's palate; the vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, nut free and meat eaters!  All of us were happy.  We used them again this morning for a breakfast buffet for our employee meeting.  They arrived early, before I arrived and set up everything in our break room. I arrived to work and everything was laid out and ready to go. I have not received one complaint and that's a big deal with my folks.  I've never received this many compliments on anything I've every put together for this office, food or not! If I had more time I'd write more about how amazing it was to work with the Catering Sales Managers that worked within my budget and put together some awesome menus and were open to all my changes, etc.  They deserve every star! I can't speak more highly of On Safari Foods. I have been working with their team for over 8 years, from 400+ people dinner auctions to small intimate affairs and every type of event in between. The food is always creative and delicious, and the service is friendly and detail-oriented. They can assist with every detail, down to the table settings and flower arrangements. On Safari did a fantastic job of catering Amplio's donor event. They listened to our needs, met us for a walk-through of the venue prior to the event, showed up on time with beautiful food, and were flexible in doing a redesign when we changed how we wanted to set up and serve. This place makes it too easy to be bad. I work in the neighborhood, and On Safari is a quick walk if I'm in the need of a quick snack or bite to eat. It's got that convenience factor!In the morning they offer great breakfast sandwiches, wraps and biscuits. After 11am they have a set "hot lunch" menu that is pre determined and updated weekly on their website. The "hot" lunch is $10.95.Aside from the hot, they also offer cold sandwiches, soup of the day (meat and vegetarian) and salads. Along with their weekly "hot lunch" menu, they have a baked goods dessert menu that changes day to day. My favorite is the rice krispy treats! The butterscotch ones are the jam!If you need a quick snack, they have; chips, jerky, candy bars, breakfast bars, soda, and fruit. .....Oh yeah, they also have coffee! Our office (Westside Children's Dentistry) uses On Safari Foods for our special occasion lunch events. We always look forward to their catering. Delivery is always on time and presentation is beautiful. The dishes they offer are creative and healthy. Some of the ones we particularly enjoy are the salmon, chicken skewers, roasted vegetables and quinoa with goat cheese salad. I order food from On Safari on a weekly basis for my clients. The variety of choices and attention to detail on everything from ordering to delivery to service always make me feel at ease on event day! They are always on time, great with special diets and make everything so tasty! So far, I love all their food--but have to mention the baked goods especially. That brown bread and those nutella pinwheels make my mouth water. Use them for catering, they do a very good job!  My office has lunch events at times and On Safari has come through in our time of need. My office has some hungry people, I mean hungry!!! As soon as an email goes out that there's food in the break room, it's like vultures in there!  Anyways, we had a few events recently for St. Patrick's Day and Cinco de Mayo, we had On Safari cater it and everyone was very pleased with the catering job. I believe they set it up for you too when they deliver it, nice looking spread each time. A few things that stuck out from the last events is the super seasoned chicken we had for Cinco de Mayo, the chicken was super flavorful. The Spanish rice was more like fried rice, but but it was still very good. The St. Patrick's Day event we had, we had a baked potato bar set up with vegetarian chili. The chili was very good as well, baked potatoes were huge, the toppings are nice looking, salads were fresh and I kept eating.  Glad my office started to use them for our catered lunches and can't recommend them enough. On Safari was great!  I was looking for a reasonably priced caterer to cater a family get-together. On Safari was just what we needed.  The food was outstanding and the staff I worked with to organize everything was helpful. They delivered the food on time and set it up beautifully...and were flexible on the schedule for picking up the items.  Everyone who attended our event remarked on the food. We ordered salmon, which I was worried about as I didn't know how it would fare with the transport and sitting out on a catering tray...but it was cooked perfectly and was delicious.  The moroccan chicken was outstanding, too.They also catered a dessert buffet at a large party the following evening.  I am very picky about desserts and hate things that are overly sweet.  Everything was simply delicious.  Only note is if you are ordering their Bete Noir, they describe the slice as a "sliver." It's more than a sliver, especially considering how dense the cake is.  Figure one slice per two people...I ended up with two more cakes than I needed. More...

So it was my husband's 50th birthday and I needed to find a caterer on the Eastside. I'd had one that I'd used before but their service was consistently horrible. I hopped on Yelp and saw that On Safari Foods had stellar ratings, so I decided to give them a try.The high ratings are richly deserved. Denise asked lots of good questions at the outset to help me get my mind around what I wanted, then worked with me to get the best experience I could with the budget I had in mind. She was extremely helpful and extremely responsive. She even did the decorations for us!The party was last night and it was a raging success! 35 people at a small venue in Redmond. On Safari catered a business breakfast for my company last week and we were very pleased with all parts of the service.Being this was for a breakfast I was concerned about the morning timing downtown, etc. Food was all as had been proposed and very fresh and great quality.They showed up exactly on time, all the food was ready, and hot. We came here for the first wedding showcase, held at the main kitchen in sodo. They provided generous portions of absolutely excellent food. The staff was knowledgeable and kind, and very accommodating to my fiance and my allergy to Gluten. Particularly of note was their prawn and polenta, the tri-tip steak, and a trout endive. We had used On Safari once many years ago to cater a small party. We decided to do an entirely paleo menu and On Safari was recommended to us as a wonderful caterer who could do an all-paleo menu-- including the cake. They were absolutely incredible. Elizabeth was the main coordinator. She was a pleasure to work with. Such a joy. The food was fabulous-- we received so many compliments-- and we did not tell anyone that it was an all-paleo menu! The cake was TO DIE FOR. Our kids had a no-hands cake eating contest devouring our sample cake. On Safari Foods catered a dinner event for the University of Washington Economics Visiting Committee last night.  Teresa, the President, personally was there to make sure all the details were attended to, and that everything went smoothly.  What is really a complicated, behind the scenes, affair, was pulled off flawlessly.  The 50 guests in attendance had everything at their disposal (appetizers, drinks, dinner, dessert) served before they even thought of it.  A class professionals, all of the servers and the bartender, and especially Teresa!!  They set up and took down in a jiffy.  The food was impeccably made and served.  I love it especially when they made these special order (specially requested) shortbread cookies with the purple background and a gold W on each cookie.  Too good to eat, in fact!   From the absolute quality of the food and the impeccable professionalism of Teresa and her staff, I highly recommend On Safari Foods and I personally can't see anybody else doing what they do, so well! On Safari is the best catering shop in town. They have provided our office weekday lunches for over a year now and we are still constantly amazed at the quality and variety of food On Safari provides. All the staff is wonderful...we love our regular delivery drivers, Gabe and Asa, and the occasional visits from Hannah and others; Elizabeth is always so accommodating when I call with last minute changes and requests and does it with a smile; Maria's recipes are to die for; and, Teresa, the leader of the On Safari gang, is just delightful to work with and treats us like we are her most important and favorite client (even though I know there are many).

I discovered the On Safari cafe while I was working in this hopelessly industrial area. I couldn't believe my luck: I had discovered an oasis of calm and nurturing. I loved the food. The first thing I ever ate here was their glorious tomato soup. I started coming back as often as I could even when I didn't work in the area. Then I started brainstorming how to hire these folks as caterers for a very special event. Unlike some of the other events described here, ours was "only" 30 people--but they were all stuffed into our living room. Teresa and Elizabeth came to our house to figure out how to fit things in, and gave us suggestions for decorating and menu items.Our event was this last Saturday, and it couldn't have gone any smoother or more deliciously. ALL the guests loved the food--they wolfed down appetizers through the dessert, crowing with delight the entire way. They are still talking about how great the food was.My suggestion if you are thinking about catering with these folks: DO IT! As far as food suggestions go, we loved the butternut canneloni and very moist, deliciously-topped salmon. People returned to the buffet many times for the arugula salad and Macrina bread, which went great together. Our multiple appetizers included the S African sausage and the grilled pear on an asiago chop with honey and thyme (probably everyone's fave).Eric, the staffperson, was professional and extremely easy to work with. Teresa, the owner, came by and pitched in until we were all seated for dinner. On Safari Foods made our 30th Anniversary party an incredible success. I go here all the time Great Customer Service and Great FoodI usually stop here for lunch a few times a week."Ali "and  "Iesha" are always very helpful and up in spirits. They have a rotating menu which spices up life a little and can be utterly interesting when you order something new. I would advise any newcomer to stick to homebase and keep it simple when you come here. Since everything is home made I can't refuse the urge to the Meatball Sandwich, Mexican Mondays, and Fruit Salads they make I usually come here with Co-Workers and we all order different stuff and sample off each others portions. I stopped by here quickly last week to pick up some boerewors.  It's a type of South African sausage which is a popular cuisine when you go to South African Braai's or as us American's say "BBQ" When I arrived they were starting to shutdown but no one gave me that "oh man why did she walk in? We're closing in 15 minutes" type of face.  I was greeted by 3 people who were fine with me walking in before closing.  I told them I needed 4ibs ($8.50 per pound) of the original boerewors which consisted of Lamb, Pork and Beef.  They also have Lamb, Beef and Creole Pork boerewors.  They ran out of lamb when I asked though.  Got my boerewors and while the girl rung me up, she let me know that they also served food and did catering.  I will definitely come back for lunch but really, i'd come back for the customer service alone.  Everyone I encountered was nice.  Maybe because it was a Friday and it was time to go home? Who knows, but i'll be back.Oh, the boerewors were fine.  I've had boerewors from Uli's at Pike Place and they were delicious.  The ones from On Safari were a little dry for my taste but that's just me.  The South African's that had it at the braai enjoyed the boerewors and were happy I brought a little piece of home to them. Can I add another star?  I would if I could.  Coming to Seattle on Valentine's Day at the last minute, left us with no dinner reservation.   On Safari Foods was recommended to me and was able and willing to deliver a fabulous VEGAN meal to our hotel.  The food was excellent and there was enough for us to have lunch the following day during our conference - and it was still great as leftovers reheated.  Theresa was so easy to work with on the menu and added some nice touches, like printed menus for us.  I will definitely contact On Safari Foods again when I need catering in Seattle.
