I’m Tom a freelance designer based in the UK, working within London Advertising world. Bridging the gaps between print and digital, I feel as comfortable developing a UX journey as I do a packaging dieline. Content and colour are the keys to good communication and long term brand trust.

Olo Creative Ltd Q&A

Olo Creative Ltd Q&A

What makes a great website?

Simplicity is the essence of a good website. Something that can be updated quickly, understood without explanation and comfortable to browse either on the sofa with a tablet or on lunch break at work.
Using data helps to make websites great. Understanding where users have trouble completing a checkout is as important as the language you us to sell. Figuring out when in the day, week or month you receive most interactions is as important as figuring out why people are trying to get in touch.
A website is just one tool from a companies utility belt of pull up banners, glossy brochures and radio adverts. In some cases websites are vital, in others just a quick means of communications. It is my job to figure out the right mixture.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Do you already have a brand? This is not just a logo but a third parties perception of you and your business.
Have you formed a design brief? I can help form the brief with you. This is a blueprint which prevents project creep and keep messaging to the point.

Why should our clients choose you?

Experience. Time spent in a job does not always relate to good performance or a wider skill set. It does for me. I go out of my way to work on global £1m+ accounts as much as I do my neighbourhood craft beer house. Learning is the most important process.
Flexibility. 1 and 0's now goes hand in hand with understanding the print process and typography principles.
Industry knowledge. I freelance within London's biggest agencies which helps me understand the pros and cons of new trends in a measured way.
Support network. I know backend developers, illustrators, photographers and a whole bunch of other creative folk
