Second dinner experience here within the last month or so, and both were great!  After seeing a lot of turnover in this location, it's nice to see that somebody finally got it right ... reasonable prices, delicious food, nice ambiance (casual, but nice) great service and a good kids menu. We were happy to see that the restaurant and bar were both busy on a Saturday night.I had the rib eye special, which was great. My husband just had a Cobb salad, but said it was very good. The bread is too good ... next time they need to limit us to one basket! We will be back for sure, and plan on trying the curbside service for take-out the next time I don't feel like cooking (which will be very soon, lol). More...

Wife and I decided to try this place after discovering it on the Ventura County Axxess card. It's tucked away in a little shopping area in the Dos Vientos community so it can be a bit out of the way for most people. I think it was well worth the trip though. We came for an early dinner on a Tuesday and there was only one other couple there at the bar.  Decor inside was nice enough and they have a large patio. The atmosphere in there had just a very slight tinge of elegance but bordered more so on the relaxed. They have a kids menu and we saw a large family there with a few kids so we didn't feel weird at all bringing our 8 month old with us. We were seated in a booth which had a bit of staining on the seatback but nothing that grossed me out enough - they could definitely use a steam cleaning though.Started with a cider, a glass of Chardonnay and the calamari. The wine pour was generous for the price. The calamari had a pretty mild batter but the dipping sauce it came it was delightfully tangy. We asked for pappardelle to be substituted in lieu of the gnocchi in the short rib dish and our waiter happily obliged. The tender short rib was in this rich ragu which had a flavor I couldn't quite nail down - maybe tomatoey, winey, olive oily? We enjoyed it nonetheless. We also shared a pizza with assorted mushrooms, brie, arugula and trufle oil. The crust had a nice chew but had a nice char and crunch on the edges. There were huge slices of brie which my wife was not a big fan of (not me though - I love soft cheese).I think the only shortcoming would be there was only one waiter for the entire place (which had filled up some after 6pm). My wife and I have a high tolerance for this sort of thing but someone who expects to be waited hand and foot would sure have had something to complain about.Overall, my wife and I had a very nice dinner and are very inclined to come back (and bring some of our friends next time). This restaurant is hidden away in a lovely complex in Dos Vientos. It's easy to miss, but wow, gotta be one of the top five Newbury Park restaurants! We started with bruschetta and Mac and cheese as appetizers, and we're off to the races. Had the pappardelle pasta with prosciutto and mushrooms. Delicious! Spouse had the 12 grilled shrimp...they were large and delicious. Pizzas and hamburger were great, too. They bring bread to the table that's been rubbed with garlic and drizzled with EVOO.They have a full bar and the drinks were good, too. Large dining area, plus a few patio tables for the warm nights. We loved this place. It's worth trying to find. More...

This is one amazing restaurant that I prefer over a lot. I am a picky eater so having this restaurant near me is really convenient. I order different verities of foods here because each dish is just simply divine. The only thing I am a little disappointed about is that if you sit outside, they don't have heaters. It's just a recommendation to the builders saying that in the next Local Table they need to add them, and then I will be perfectly satisfied with their amazing restaurant. More...

I can't speak more highly of this local restaurant. Not only is it convenient as it's 1 mile from home but it's absolutely delicious. We had the shrimp pasta and ravioli, I was shocked at how flavorful it was. We also had a few glasses of wine and loved the ambience. It's classy and kinda romantic but is still ok to bring the kiddos which is a perfect combo for families who want to dine somewhere other than cpk. More...

I’ve gone there before many times it’s been delicious. I’ve only gone once or twice when I haven’t enjoyed it but it was most likely the cook at that time. I love their orchetti pasta in cream sauce with mushrooms and peas. I usually ask for the vegis on the side and eat them separately, but I’ve also tried with the vegis in. It is delicious both ways. The pasta is a nice take on a Alfredo but much better in my opinion considering Alfredo is my favorite sauce. They also have delicious pizza. I tried the brisket and we were very disappointed along with the mashed potatoes and broccoli but it may have just been the chef that night as I have stated. Their truffle Mac n cheese is a hit or miss. Truffle is definitely an acquired taste. And it is made with truffle oil. I can’t remember if there is actual truffle in there you can go ahead and ask that yourself. But generally I am very pleased, but I have had a bad experience. Friday nights is when I say go for it, Friday through the weekend. That’s when the foodIs best because they have their best chefs cranking out lots of food. Though I did have a waiter that was very cocky especially when it came to wine and was saying a wine that is by no means earthy was earthy. And calling my mom wrong and acted like she was an idiot and knew nothing. Anyway he was very rude and disrespectful to us women, it was on a Wednesday. They have their worst servers work when it’s least busy considering they don’t serve lunch. Hope this helped More...

This place is simply the bomb!. We decided to try something new tonight...I had the baby back ribs w/mac & cheese, and my wife had the Pollo Mattone. The ribs were absolutely perfect...Meaty, fall off the bone deliciousness, with a perfect sauce. Mac &  Cheese was tasty. The chicken was, as it always is....phenomenal!. Proportions were huge, so we took the rest home for a second meal. Drinks, fresh bread are equally great. Can't say enough about this place. EVERY meal we've had there has been amazing. Glad to find this place with a decent bar and happy hour menu. The drive out here was beautiful even though it is off the beaten path. Walking into the restaurant the set up feels odd. The bar is hidden around the corner as it has nice granite counters and it's a dark rich wood. However the first thing greeting you is a display case and bottles of wine stacked in the reception area The waiting area leaves nothing to talk about. Stacked high chairs, random chairs, not very attractive. There is a lot of wasted space. It wasn't very busy. The food was good. I had the short ribs sliders and the beef tacos. More...

The sizes of the kids' food is large enough for an adult to eat and be satisfied. The adult food is large portions and delicious. And there is a great outdoor seating area where the kids can be loud and a park they can play within parental view. Bruschetta with Burrata was a great choice for appetizer. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! We ended the meal with the Chocolate Truffle Gelato & Peanut Butter Bomba. Yowza! Solid 4 star review.  Staff are friendly and get to know you quickly if you are a regular. Can sit at the bar and watch the game or get a table indoors or outside, both of which are very nice. Many great options on the menu. I am a big fan of the pastas but steaks, burgers and seafood are all favorites of my family as well. Area for improvement... there are reasonably priced pizzas and sandwiches on the menu but they could use a few more less expensive options. That would keep the neighborhood folks coming back on a more frequent basis. More...

Decided to give this restaurant another shot as I had not been there in probably close to a year. It's located in the heart of the Dos Vientos Community in Newbury park. A friend and I went there and brought a bottle of wine with us. I decided on the chicken piccata and it exceeded my expectations. Very tender and juicy with just the right amount of lemon, butter, and capers. My friend ordered the chicken paillard (pounded thin grilled chicken with tomatoes and arugula piled on top). She was very happy with her meal as well. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that our corkage fee was only $10. This place is my kids' absolutely favorite restaurant in the world. When we ask them where they want to go to eat, they always shout "LOCAL TABLE!" And then I slap my forehead, thinking, "Not again?!?". My daughter always orders the kids pasta penne and my son the kids pizza(surprise). These are basically adult size portions, btw. I usually order one of their beet or quinoa salads. I can never finish their pasta plates, too much food. But it's rich and flavorful. My wife and I usually share a mixed drink(they make them pretty strong, but then I'm a light weight). I have seen this restaurant at LA Live but knew there was one closer to where I live and wanted to try it. I started with the Pom Pom martini which was wonderful. I had the dozen bbq'd shrimp and my husband had the half boneless chicken. The shrimp was sweet and fresh and cooked perfectly. It was served on a bed of greens with a side of mashed potatoes. My husband's chicken was also cooked perfectly and was served with spinach and potatoes. The service was excellent! I will absolutely be back! More...

They make you feel like a local at The Local Table!Stopped here on our way home from a business trip in LA. Never heard of it but have it a try. Couldn't have found a more friendly place! What made it extra perfect Our server, Michael, the most amazing, polite, friendly young man. And for double thumbs up, his twin brother David works there also. We were promptly greeted, seated and treated like...yep a local. Michael explained the menu and told us the specials which we both jumped on the special fresh fish of the night, Grilled Sea Bass with the most amazing lemon caper sauce. Our meal was served with very buttery garlic bread, vegetables and mashed potatoes. All cooked to perfection. We will make the drive from Ventura again just to say hi to Michael & David. And of course to eat the yummy foods!5/7/16We came back just 5 weeks later and Michael waited on us again. And guess what...he remembered our names and something about us. So point is we were treated like FRIENDS and LOCALS at The LOCAL Table!!Tonight we had the Chicken piccata and the Scottish salmon. I also had the beet & arugula salad. Hubby had a beer, the All Day IPA. Seriously everything was perfection. But the best is MICHAEL. My advice to management is to give that boy a HUGE raise to keep him around for a very long time!! Just finished a fantastic dinner at The Local Table. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. I saw a prior review complaining about the wine list but while the list is small it does include a nice selection of Italian, French and Napa wines. The Italian wines go well beyond Chianti. This is the best kept secret in the Conejo Valley, judging by the lack of a wait at 7pm on a Saturday night.  Everything we've tried off the menu has been great...so is the atmosphere. Both the quinoa and arugula salads are very good. The menu brags that the spaghetti bolognaise is the best you've ever had...and we can't argue that. Haven't had a dud yet. Plus it's right next to a park where your kids can run around while you wait for your food. There have been a few restaurants in this spot over the years. It would be nice to see this one stick. I have visited this lovely restaurant several times and have always VERY MUCH enjoyed the food, both at dinner and happy hour - it's fantastic! It's such a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place to chill out after a long day, and I leave each time feeling like I got a tiny little vacation from the everyday rat race. The bartender/manager, Christopher, is always more than gracious, and although the waiters can (admittedly) be a little slow at times, the service has always been courteous and attentive. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a delicious break from the hectic hurry of the rest of the world! More...

I took my friend for a celebration dinner here after seeing it listed in the Ventura County Axxess book. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of five is because of how our night started out. We were waiting to be greeted (about 5 minutes) finally someone came up and said our table would be ready in 10 minutes which was odd because there were several empty tables. The 10 minutes came and went when someone else finally noticed us sitting there and asked if we have been helped. His name was Maurice and he was our angel. He apologized without placing blame and took immediate responsibility. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. It was busy so he stepped in as a server, his usual position is a bar back. He should be the manager! The way he took charge and pride in his work we thought he was even an owner. He's a keeper!   We like to try new places and have been looking for a new Italian restaurant, we found one.  We started out with the Bruschetta with burrratta cheese. It was delicious. My friend ordered Penne with Chicken Sausage, Roasted Pine Nuts and Sun-Dried Tomatoes in a Red Sauce, she loved it and can't wait to go back for that dish. I ordered the Orecchiette Pasta with Pancetta, English Peas and Mushrooms in a Light Cream Sauce and wouldn't have changed a thing about it. Delicious. For dessert we ordered Creme Brulee and thought it was tasty but the sugar was a little chewy. This is a not a fast food restaurant, it is a cozy, relaxing, sit down and enjoy conversation kind of place.  I have already planned a date night with my husband, can't wait to go back. More...

My husband & I had a very relaxing & wonderful dinner here tonight. We both started with a broccoli soup & then had the barbecue shrimp. There were 12 good sized shrimp served in a lemon garlic sauce. It was served with a salad & potato. Instead of the potato we were able to substitute a vegetable. The music played was very relaxing & they also had the fireplace on. We both finished with a cup of decaf which was freshly brewed. We look forward to returning at another time. More...

My family lives in Dos Vientos.  We decided one night to walk down for dinner.  It was around 5:30 on a Tuesday and we were the only ones seated; there were a few folks at the bar. The decor & ambience was real nice, and the background music was American classic.  I had the Chicken Parm sandwich with a Caesar salad and my wife had linguini with seafood, while my daughter had chicken from the kid's menu.  All the food was excellent and the house wine was great too.  My sandwich was one of the best I have ever had, and the service was nice and relaxed.  All in all a great dinner - we will return soon. I had low expectations for this place based upon the location in Dos Vientos. I mean, does anyone in Newbury Park know good Italian food anyway? Why bother I thought. Well, I was wrong. I ordered a small cheese pizza to benchmark the place and it was really good.  Thin, well balanced, and bursting with all the right flavors.  Worth going for the pizza alone.  The owner, a very nice guy called Santo, also sent me on my way with some of their meatballs.  Also very good, much like you see in Sicily, where you taste the meat and not overwhelming amounts of garlic and bread crumbs.  He also gave my friend a takeaway portion of Pasta e Fagioli soup, which I promptly stole from him for my own consumption.  PF, like many food items, is up to interpretation and every recipe is different.  This is a very good one.   To summarize: I would go back for the pizza alone but I plan to try a different item off the menu each time I visit.  Next? The Penne Norma, one of my favorite Sicilian dishes.  My message to the people that live in Dos Vientos is you need to get off your lazy butts and support this restaurant!  Once per week, minimum. Just tried The Local Table for the first time. We were a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews that had been posted but we decided to try it for ourselves. Let me start by saying that the decor and atmosphere within this restaurant is very warm. We were greeted by Craig who was very welcoming. We sat on the lounge side and ordered a glass of wine each. I ordered the Baby Back Ribs and my daughter ordered the BBQ Shrimp. Both meals were really good, the ribs are definitely a two meal dish. The staff is super friendly and ready to accommodate. I believe it was one of the owners (Santos) approached our table and thanked us for giving the restaurant a chance. There is no real great reason why we have not been here, seeing as how it's in our backyard, literally. Tonight we ordered take out. The initial intention was just to get pizza, but, I wanted to give an entree a try to really know what the 'cooking' was like. You see, I cook... I cook a lot. I get many compliments on my cooking. It takes a lot for me to pay for a dinner I can otherwise make myself...well. To establish a baseline, we ordered the cheese pizza and a special- the chicken picatta. While my small people were sleeping, our dog and I walked over to pick it up...not only did the hostess execute my request to stall the order for a half an hour (ensuring a hot meal pick up), but, she was professional and accommodating when I ordered some deserts from the cold case. For the food- Yes, it is not cheap, but, not expensive. If you have shopped for food lately, you know that the good stuff comes at a price. Yes, we have two small girls and just us, but, we were able to ALL eat for $40. The chicken picatta was really very good. It's  a simple dish, but, the best way to judge if a place is worth it's chops. I really don't think I could do better, and again, I'm pretty good. ;) The cheese pizza, for being another 'basic', was great. the crust had a wood fired taste and nothing was overdone. As I mentioned, I ordered deserts. We got a red velvet cupcake (dry), an eclair (good), and the chocolate pecan torte (wonderful).... As we watch our rented Disney movie, I am thoroughly enjoying the torte, with a cup of black coffee, now. Please give this place a try, with a "normal" mind. Most likely, they ARE cooking, whatever you ordered, better than you could... More...

I live in Dos Vientos and really want this resto to succeed. The first two didn't make it for various reasons, but I think this one has the potential to endure its "opening pains". The food and wine list by the glass are quite good. Prices are reasonable. The manager and the staff are quite accommodating and friendly. They need to add several baffles (soundproofing devices) throughout the resto as the noise level is quite high. Even the girl at reception said they can't hear people on the phone and need to go under the counter to try to hear. I find people seem to have a need to shout when "talking" and laugh very loud, which is annoying, hurts the ears and can ruin a nice dining experience. Soundproofing could help dampen the loud crowd. We are so excited to have Local Table finally open! The food is great; my favorites so far are the hanger steak, the tomato bisque soup which was a "soup of the day" selection, and the crab cakes. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I live within walking distance and have been here several times already. They have a great happy hour menu with several $5 items. That reminds me, their Mac n Cheese is yummy too! The cocktails are well made but the only draw back is that they are quite pricey for a local restaurant ($12 each) but there is a good wine selection and the glass prices are reasonable ($8-$11). Keep up the good work! I will certainly be back. More...

I came for the first time last night with my husband and daughter. Having lived in Dos Vientos since 2001, we too have high hopes for a restaurant that will actually work in this location. My daughter ordered the soup of the day (potato with bacon) and the kids farfalla. She loved them both. The soup was amazing. My husband ordered the fettuccini with seafood and it was just OK. It was really soupy and didn't have a ton of flavor. I ordered the caesar salad and the mussels. Caesar was fine - it wasn't one of those prefab caesars you get at the chain restaurants, it was completely fresh, but it was just OK. The mussels were outstanding though - I wanted to lick the plate. For dessert my daughter and I each got a cupcake from the display up front. They were really delicious - and we also got some of the homemade dog treats to bring home (both dogs loved them).Overall, I like the decor but it feels a bit fancy - maybe in the summer when the patio is open it will feel more casual. The food for the most part was very good - much better than anything you can get in Newbury Park other than perhaps Holdren. The service was good - we didn't have any issues with our waitress at all. The prices were on par with restaurants of this quality in perhaps WLV or Santa Monica - but for DV they're simply too high. I can't spend $95 on a dinner for 3 once a week but I will definitely come back. We were hoping for a place we can frequent but with these prices, we just can't swing it all the time. More...

I would like to commend The Local Table, this restaurant has only been opened for about two months and the hostess and busboys were excellent,  the waitress Christine went above the call of duty, she was very imformative and efficient she even picked our wine choices for us, which were great.  She observed us at all times and delivered all the food properly.  The manager Ricky Jo, actually introduced herself and checked backed several times to see how everything was.  The meal and appertizer and salad were prepared and presented extremely well.   I had the babyback ribs, they were probably the best I ever had and the macroni and cheese that was as good as what I make at home if not better.  My wife really enjoyed the Roasted chicken with the apricot farro  and pomegrante glaze.  The sauces the Chef made were wonderful and complimented all the meals. I would highly recommend The Local Table, and gave them a YELP five star, if they can keep up with the excellent service and food, they will be a AAA or Michelin four or five star soon. Thanks again to Christine and Ricki Jo, and to Santo who took the time to talk to me on the phone the next day.I love your place More...

I went here last Thursday night with my gal and left quite impressed.  The space is very warm and inviting and we were greeted by two friendly hostesses.  Nice layout with a crowd at the bar and boothes along the periphery and tables in the center of the room.  They have a nice patio as well which will be great in the Spring and Summer I imagine.  The place was pretty busy.We started with a gluten free beer which was actually very good--I couldn't tell at all that there was anything different from a regular beer.  This was served ICE COLD--YAY!!  Our appetizer to share was grilled veggies with a balsamic reduction and it was well done; a nice portion just right for sharing.  Entrees were the Idaho trout for under $20 and the hangar steak for $22.  Portions were right for the price and the quality was good.  The sweet potato mash was absolutely fantastic--I've never had them that smooth and creamy.  We didn't have dessert but they looked awesome and are made by a celebrity chef it says on the menu.  Lastly, our server Dylan was very friendly and we thought the service was attentive but unobtrusive.  We will definitely be coming back and I think this is a very needed addition to the community.  Look forward to coming back next for some drinks at the bar for happy hour. This place has improved so much.  Love the pizza's.  The only suggestion I have is more heaters for outside.

I'm reviewing a  take out experience only.  We tried the goat cheese flat bread with fig jam, the artichoke, sun dried tomato pizza, and the bbq chicken pizza.  All three were fabulous.  We also ordered a kids cheese pizza which had large chunks of tomato in the sauce, didn't sit well with our 9 year old.  Lastly we ordered a beet salad which was good but needed a few more ingredients to make it great.  Paid $66 including tip and felt that it was a fair price for gourmet food.  Plenty of food for 5 and had quite a bit left over.  Will go back for sure. Service and food were good.  The focaccia bread was delicious followed by scallops and the beet salad.  My only complaint is that I didn't have room to try a dessert!  Hope that this place breaks the curse of this restaurant space. More...

I had a big salad (fresh greens) w/garlic flatbread appetizer for $13 - ample food and seemed fair priced.  Agree with craft beers/beer flight.  No alcohol served yet, but no wine below $9/glass on the menu, so beyond my budget, as are the desserts ($8).  Nice ambience and good enough service.  I'll try it again. We just finished a delicious dinner at The Local Table.  My daughter had the braised short rib over mushroom risotto (fantastic) and I had the pancetta with sweet peas and mushrooms (wonderful) in a cream sauce.  Service was excellent.  We had a sweet and efficient waitress.  I thought the prices were quite reasonable especially for the quality of food we were served.  I'm so happy to have such a great restaurant located in our neighborhood. We had a fantastic time here on Valentine's Day  -  great and quick service, with a wide range on the menu that appeals to all ages. Every meal looks delicious, and is not too fancy or expensive. It is perfect for a family night or a casual date night. The ambiance is cozy too, makes you feel right at home! More...

We were excited to try it a new place so we ordered several appetizers and a variety of entrees. All of it was delicious. The food is fresh, original and tasty. We will definitely come back.

As a nearby resident, I was hoping that The Local Table would be a success. After dining, I can't see how it wouldn't. Started sharing the scallops appetizer and they were awesome. I ordered the BBQ ribs which comes with mac & cheese. The ribs were as good as I've ever had. You could not eat them with your hands because if you tried to pick up a rib, the meat would just fall completely off. The meat was plentiful, not a lot of fat, but still very moist and sauce perfect. The mac and cheese was also excellent. My wife had the short ribs which comes with risotto. She loved them and the generous portions allowed me to try them the next day reheated for lunch, again as good as I've ever tasted even at the high end LA restaurants. More...

I still am not sure after eating there what to rate this new restaurant that is back in Dos Vientos.  But my first meal was good.  I had the grilled Hanger steak.  It was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The vegetables were good too.  Neither were heavily seasoned  which can ruin or make a dish even better.... The dinner side salad (extra) was ok, but not a signature salad-a missed opportunity to impress for little expense.  The bread turned out to be pizza dough style with butter.  It also came with tapenade It was good and different.  The drink refills kept coming which was appreciated.  I want to say that our waiter is a good guy and will be very good with a little more experience, but he used some youthful language like "awesome" etc.  I know I'm being picky with that, but it is a trend with some wait staffs that gives away their inexperience.  I also had a weird experience when paying.  The waiter made a mistake by returning all of my cash instead of just the change.  He had to stop me on the way out the front door because the bill hadn't been paid.  So there were some small kinks that I'm sure will be worked out with a little more time.  I will be going there again, but the prices might be just a little high for too many family outings.  Our bill was $62 for two people: 2 steak dinners ($22 ea.), 2 side salads ($5 ea.), 2 sodas ($2.50 ea)+ tax. Add a $12 tip and that gets the dinner for two without alcohol or dessert up to $74.  We did have one of the more expensive dinners on the menu though... More...

Went there for Valentine's day dinner. They had only been open for 1 week. The only disappointment was that on their web/facebook site they say full bar & wine. When we got there, we were informed they could serve no alcohol whatsoever. The still did not have their liquor license. Wish they would have noted that online. For the reaction of most of the patrons, I saw their discouragement as well. Food was excellent though. Would definitely go back. More...

Super excited about this opening.  Went tonight and the food was delishious.  I did think the prices were a little high, but the atmosphere is nice.  Wish they did bread and butter/oil while waiting.  I had the pancetta and egg pizza...it was incredible, just wish the toppings expanded closer to the large crust.  Two others in our party had 2 diff pasta dishes and loved them especially the bolognese, but also would have liked a slice or two of bread with their dish.  All in all it was great and can't wait till they get more established and their liquor license.  Hope to have an awesome happy hour!!! :). PS....delivery would be an awesome option here, especially for their pizzas!! More...
