Ben did a fantastic job of our band website. We didn't know much about the process but he was happy to explain in simple terms, without all the jargon and didn't mind us repeating the same questions! We get so many compliments on the quality of the band website and we are still using him now for gig posters/social media etc. Would definitely recommend. More...

I cannot commend the excellent work of Ben at Oldfield Web Design enough. As an existing business, it was vital to establish a website that conveyed the professional image needed and adhered to certain aesthetic and technical requirements which was spectacularly achieved by Ben. I am delighted with the creation of my website, that has received excellent praise and acclaim from many different sectors and professionals. Ben was incredibly approachable and patient throughout the project, with a good sense of humour and excellent customer care that ensured not only a high-quality website, delivered within the deadline set, but also at the most competitive price on the market. I would recommend Ben and Oldfield to anyone who wants to create or re-vamp an existing website, as you will be in very safe, capable and trusted hands. More...

Q&As

We focus on professionalism. Simplicity. Making sure your customer finds what they are looking for and knows exactly what to do when they land on your site. Just look at one of the most successful websites in the world, Google. You can't get much simpler than that and see how well it works for them. You can spend hundreds on making sure the menu bar is animated to the max or you can make sure your site is professional, has the right content and does what it's supposed to do.

Have they checked out sites they like? Have they gotten quotes from numerous web designers? Do they have hosting, domain or maintenance in place (i.e. Will they need CMS ?) Do they have a logo, social media, print materials or would they want a package deal?

It's not so much of a secret as more of a talent. Some people can just see what is going to make a good shot. You can spend hundreds on equipment and training but some people just have the knack. Now, the key to the perfect shot is timing and set-up. Finding the right light, angle, position and finally taking a load of photos to see what works.

Try, try and try again. It is always ongoing. Seeing what works and trying to improve upon it.

Their phone number. It is a lot better to talk things through and see if we will be a good fit. In the end it has to work between both parties.

My favourite part of the process is finding out about a new business and seeing how I can help them out. Knowing that my knowledge and expertise will be the difference between them earning £10 a day to £1000 a day.

I enjoy work. I am happy to work until the project is done to the best of my ability and working for someone else limits that. I am happy to work from 6am-11pm if need be which doesn't suit a lot of people but I love.

I want the people reading this to choose the person they think is right for them. That honestly might not be me. I am relatively new to the industry and though I have several years under my belt working with councils to US organisations I do not know everything inside and out like a lot of my competitors. If you are a small-medium sized business or start-up looking for a professional quality website at a really good rate then I know I am your best choice. If you have a £50,000 budget and want someone who can code in their sleep, regrettably though I would of course love the money, I am not your guy.
