Oita Sushi

I read other reviews after leaving MSK, wanting something different yet not super expensive or heavy, so I went to check it out. I was greeted nicely and squeezed at the end of the counter due to me using a walker to get around, I was given a menu and my place setting was made, I found what I wanted immediately and ordered, I was treated with respect and dignity, my order came fairly quickly and it looked awesome ! I had the 8 piece sushi and let me tell you, they were fresh and melt in my mouth (literally) delicious ! I was totally satisfied and my taste buds sang ! I am very happy I chose to go to such an extraordinary place to enjoy such wonderful culinary artistry ! We were on the East Side and didn't realize this was a place mostly meant for takeout, but we called ahead and they said they would happily seat us. We were not disappointed! The sushi was wonderful and the people working there were so friendly! They took our photo (probably because they don't see many of their customers face to face!) and it was great. If you're looking to cater or order takeout, you will enjoy every bite, but even if you end up dining there, I highly recommend it! More...

When I take my vacation, I often visit Oita Sushi Restaurant because the food is absolutely fantastic and prices are unbelievably lower than quality of food. Always entertaining with cheerful smiley faces and bright energy!Came up great cozy and sweet atmosphere, also very warmed friendly and wonderful staffs that make customers feeling very comfortable. Only 2 tables for 2 to sit in. Mostly take out. VERY good sushi and dumplings. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. One of the best sushi places I have tried in NYC. Ordered the salmon combo and enjoyed it very much. Salmon is extremely fresh and though it is slightly expensive, Oita is definitely worth the premium due to its high quality ingredients and craftsmanship. Tiny sushi restaurant with only two tables for two, and three stool seating. It's mostly a take out place. Ordering is done by tablet. Their takeout bag is pretty nice, a nice thick paper bag with rope handle. I had the salmon poke bowl which contains plenty of fresh salmon. Good quality fish, but the bowl was a bit boring compared to other poke bowls I had and it was a bit pricey. They give you a soy sauce, ginger type sauce for it which was too salty. Use sparingly! Four stars for the freshness and amount of fish, but three stars for the poke itself which is a new item and it isn't their specialty so I'll give them a little leeway. More...

We are big fans of Oita Sushi. Every summer we spend a few weeks in NYC and Oita is our go-to sushi establishment. Conveniently located (near the 72nd St Q station), they are very quick, inexpensive, and tasty. Oita sushi is a fancy take out stand/cafeteria combo. What's cool and breezy is that you self order and pay through computer and then you can sit and enjoy in the small seating area. Fish: very good. Tuna and salmon roll was a bit on the petite side but the fish quality was good and for me that's the most important part of the sushi experience. For this reason only did I end up giving 4 stars. But, for the Kani salad I had, I'd give a 2 or 3. The taste was fine but the portion? For $6 you get about a cups worth, sitting on a mountain of pickles. I like pickles as much as the next person but, WHAT is the deal with the pickles?! (Seinfeld stand-up style). I may go back or most likely I'll keep searching for my UES sushi spot. More...

I am absolutely blown away by this sushi establishment in Manhattan!I was not expecting much due to the higher-than-normal prices, but I was absolutely blown away by the freshness of the sushi and the quality of the miso soup, not to mention the salads on the side were really tasty. Fresh and delicious -- We ordered a ton of food and enjoyed pretty much all of it. The sushi was sublime. The fish was firm and sweet and perfectly fresh. The spicy ramen is smoky and has a major kick to it, really perfect on a cold wet day. I was only so-so on the shrimp shumai but my companion adored them, and the shrimp tempura were delish. The best sushi I have had in my life. All of their ingredients are fresh and natural and unlike some places, the sushi is refreshing with a clean taste. They have a lot of unique rolls, too. They have the basic ones every sushi place has, but also has a lot of original Oita sushis, too. I love their authenticity and their clean taste. Their service is also great.
