Nick LaRovere is a genius behind the camera. We were in need of a video for our daughter’s wedding. I contacted Nick for a couple of reasons. 1) we’ve watched him grow up and knew the type of hardworking young man he was. 2) Nick has a very strong work ethic, as well as integrity and morals. We contracted with him and his company to do this video. All I can say is it was more than I could have hoped for. Our daughter literally cried when she saw it. She said that the beautiful way in which it was filmed let’s her live her special day over and over, as if it were taking place again. I must say that I agree. The very first film I ever did was with Occulus Films and even though I was just background I was super nervous. Nick and the crew made me feel like right at home and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had on set. What to say about Nick and his abilities This should cover it. I've worked with him once and I'm willing to put my short film, that I was going to direct myself, into his young, VERY YOUNG, capable hands. He may take it and do with it what he wants and what that is... he does very well, which is spin magic. Not only am I willing to let him have the short but the film the short is actually more of a trailer for, is his as well if he so chooses. I think he and the crew he assembles work well together and that his brother works closely with him to ensure the product is the best it can possibly be. Nick has a good eye and his brother Dom pulls from the footage Nick gives him to work with, shots that make an indie film with a zero budget look like it was shot with a budget of 5 million dollars. They know the equipment to use, they have extensive knowledge in the product and are prepared to work in any situation because if you have a need or desire in your shoot to use something they haven't actually worked with yet themselves, they will not only take every spare minute they have to learn all about the apparatus and the accessories that come with it, but they will dive into who uses it and see what the gear is capable of, determine how best it fits in the situation at hand and make your film work. Hey there guys Gary Herkimer here chatting up the folks of Occulus Films. We did a very quick and sweet Film Noir shoot in Gilbert at the Cigar Fox Bar a while back. Not only the guys were quick but the shots they took were crisp, clean and well edited by Nick's younger brother Dom. Although, some chimed in and we could have added some V/O and who knows that may still happen. Also, I had the pleasure to introduce Nick LaRovere to many of the filmmakers at Industry Night at the Phoenix Film Festival and all and all they were quite impressed with this young man. As an actor I do change characters from one extreme to conservative so Nick got to see me near naked in another project by Lisa Plattinum and he still maintain his professionalism and enthusiasm . Above all it looks like I will be working with him in the near future with a featurette then followed by a feature by Shari K. Green from Good Stew Productions ~ "The Breakfast Killers". Stay tuned there will be several roles up for grabs and auditions will be posted.
