We were passing by and noticed an ad for cake design classes so we stopped in. The place was so quaint and pretty. There were so many beautiful designs but my favorite was the bakery case. The different pastries looked so tasty and were not usual. Many different flavors caught my eye. The gentlemen at the counter was so helpful to give us information about the classes. I love Oakleaf. I am a Northwest transplant and had wanted a new go-to spot as a café and since it's near my work, I gave it a try. They had a Free Tasting Event the other day, featuring a lovely array of new flavors to sample. Everything was delish. I've come here too often to count. They're doing great things and this place is so undersold!Pros:1) locally-owned!!! :) :) :) 2) The ambiance is bright and warm, charming as hell.3) Specialties- Summer: Cucumber. Lemonade. Just try it. - Winter: Homemade Hot Cocoa -- They have a honkin' huge homemade marshmallow which you can have toasted atop your hot cocoa. (And they have different flavors of cocoa, too...) Oh yes. Come to me, sweet sugar fix, come to mama.4) Service staff is warm, friendly, sweet. Also, I think the alum are local grads from Berklee. (Gotta love musicians who can also bake and make espresso! :)5) Has really good vegan baked goods (and non-veg, also). Never had a bad thing. I used Oakleaf Cakes to design and bake my wedding cake for a September 2019 wedding. From our first tasting to the final product, they were extremely professional and listened to all of our needs and desires. They designed a custom cake to match our wedding theme and coordinated with our florist to create a gorgeous final product. And in addition to being beautiful, it was delicious. We had a 4-tier cake and were able to have multiple flavors. We chose red velvet, yellow cake, and chocolate cake (with nutella butter cream). Each flavor was unique and decadent. We saved the top tier to freeze and have on our first anniversary, but it was so good, we consumed it on our wedding night with our entire wedding party. I can’t recommend them highly enough! I am glad that I can find a customized cake shop. Apart from customized cakes, their blueberry pop tart and almond filled croissants were also great. Especially the blueberry tart, just love it.The only deficit is that it costed 5 days to do a 5-inch classic style cake. The cake shops where I used to visit in China provide same day cake preparation service. Anyway, I cannot expect that kind of service here, but it would be nice if they can short the times. More...

Oakleaf is the greatest coffee shop that exists + they make great cookies and cakes (which I rarely buy due to staying away from sugar) but I still want to support them. I fear for their survival due to competitors continually springing up. Also if you are working in Oakleaf on your laptop and need something to eat you have no food options which propels you to head over to WF or Nero!! This place is the best!!! I have been coming here for the few years and the quality of ALL their food and drinks are without consistently if the utmost superior quality to any other bakery in the area. The staff are some of the warmest, kindest and most helpful people in the world. I [hand to God] have never had a bad experience while here. Amazing vegan bakery near the Northeastern campus. I love their brownies and chocolate espresso cookies and orange-chocolate muffins the most! The coffee is delicious as well. I am sometimes disappointed when the only vegan offering is a blueberry muffin or almond cookie so would recommend that they keep an eye on the vegan inventory/selection. Oakleaf Cakes is absolutely incredible. I'm in Boston for the summer and wanted to get a cake for my birthday, but I have an allergy to all dairy products, and it's so hard to find a bakery that can accommodate that. Oakleaf has been my favorite neighborhood bakery for awhile, I've lived in the area for a couple years and have frequently stopped by for pastries and coffee (all of which have been delicious, and the service pleasant). I finally had the chance to order a cake from them for my mom's birthday - and definitely will be doing so again in the future! I thought the beautiful cakes were well priced, they were really responsive to my order from that I had placed, and were attentive to making sure the design was what I had in mind. My mom loved it and it tasted amazing. My whole family was impressed, and the fact that it came from a local bakery made the experience more special. Would highly recommend them for anything! Amazing taste and excellent quality! My wife and I went to Oakleaf Cakes for our wedding cake and were not disappointed! We sampled their cupcakes to decide on what flavor we wanted. We ended up ordering a red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.We realized that we needed a slightly bigger cake than we originally ordered. We simply called to request a bigger size and they just charged the difference to our credit card. It was super simple and convenient! I had a cake made for my twin girls graduation and we had figurines made of the girls sitting on the cake with their white graduation dresses and flower crowns on. It was amazing to see the detail in this cake. Even down to the embroidery on one of the dresses. Their rings and necklaces and even their nail polish. It was the highlight of the party and a huge talking point. The cookies and cupcakes that we had accompanying the cake were delicious. We ordered a custom cake and it was amazing! I work at a museum and we were having a party for our director who specializes in Peruvian archaeology. So we had the good folks at Oakleaf make an edible replica of a Peruvian pot. It was the center of attention at our party. It was so spot on they even captured the small cracks and paint losses that the original has. Oakleaf is definitely one of the best local bakeries in Boston and operated by Boston college alumni. For the most part, they offer a pretty solid product and excellent cakes. I have bought their pastries dozens of times. In my opinion the cheesecakes, pop tarts, and cupcakes tend to shine above the rest of the selection. With that said, some of their stuff can be AMAZING one day and then disappointingly average the next day. I have baked enough in my life to be able to tell, just by looking, what I think it will probably taste like. I just hate needing to analyze everything I get there before I make the purchase.Unfortunately, Oakleaf is very inconsistent. One day the confetti cookies will be chewy, thick, and white; the next day thin, dark, and crispy. There is a lack of calculating that creates these mix results. Every part of the process needs to be calculated: the temperature of the ingredients, the weight of each ingredient, the humidity in the room; the precise bake time—everything. Any good baker worth their salt knows this. I want to be able to say, go to Oakleaf where you can have the best confetti cookie of your life, not, well if you go to Oakleaf enough you might one day get the best confetti cookie of your life. I personally do not care about what direction they go, because I know someone will appreciate it. Some people like chewy cookies; other people like crispy. All I am saying is it would be better if you just stick to one concept so you can guarantee your customer's satisfaction. More...

I ordered a custom graduation cake for my husband from Oakleaf. They accepted a few photos of my ideas and then took the reigns to create the look without much guidance. The end result was amazing and we received compliments from lots of people in the restaurant. They had an easy to use online payment option which was awesome. Oakleaf Cakes just made the most beautiful sculpted cake for my company.  We are in the middle of a large construction job and recently had a topping out ceremony.  I sent architect renderings of our new building to Oakleaf and our employees though our delivered cake was a model created by the architects!  The cake looked so good that our architects posed near the cake for a photo op.  Not only was the cake beautiful and perfect to the eye, but it tasted exquisite as well!  Our employees were delighted!  Thank you, Oakleaf!  We will definitely be calling you for our next corporate event.
