Q&As

I began my design career with my mother in my teens helping her with her drapery design business in Birmingham, Alabama. When I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1993, I studied under two master interior designers while working in visual merchandising for Macy's, Rich's, Saks 5th Avenue and Parisian department stores. I went into event design just before the 1996 Olympic Games with the largest event company in Atlanta called Event Design Group. After the Olympics, I began working on a team of showroom display and merchandisers at America's Mart and soon traveled the country working in market showrooms in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and High Point, NC.

I am trained to cater to any interior design style, but prefer to work in Contemporary and Modern Design. Projects that are more artistic and an eclectic mix of styles also appeal to me as I love color and mixing elements from different time periods. Transitional is where we work the most for our clients in NYC with a few high end high profile clients seeking a more colorful artistic pallet of modern interiors.

Helping people make their nest is my favorite part of this professional career. When people buy a home or want to redesign a home, they are in transition and our job is a lot like environmental therapy. We help our clients find a better way to live in their homes with colors and furnishings that will help them feel happier and healthy when they are home and entertaining guests.

I was part of junior achievement in High School and have always been an entrepreneur at heart. My mother collected dozens of business cards over the years and before she passed away showed me how many business ventures I had explored over the years beginning with a photography business. I am also passionate about theatre and have a small production company here in NYC.

I am unlike any designer you will meet. We are all very different and bring different skills to this profession. I have a gift for figuring out spacial challenges and have been told I am a master specifying color whether it is on the walls or in the furnishings of my projects. Clients choose me mostly because I am fair and I am also kind. I love to laugh and have a good time. There is enough stress when approaching a design project, we will need to know how to find the humor along the way to keep us all sane.

The pandemic changed our world. I am not great working on interior design remotely, I need to be in the space and feel it, see how the light works in the space and also meet my clients in person. I will work online and remotely if I am not able to travel or be in the project space, but will want the option to physically visit each project site at least once or twice.

I keep a safe distance, wear a mask when asked and have been fully vaccinated to prevent covid-19. During the pandemic, our firm was mostly closed until the second quarter of 2021 when one past client needed some minor changes made to a commercial space before opening. Since then, we have worked with another commercial client and several residential clients and have had no issues.
