A lifelong fitness fanatic, discovering NY Best Kickboxing in my early 40s was my best find yet. From the warm up through the rounds and right through the very last push up or crunch, my body and mind are put to the test and I always feel like I can conquer whatever a NYC day throws at me after a class with one of the awesome instructors. I can honestly say the classes have helped me be in the best shape of my life - both physically and mentally. If you're looking for a no-frills, no-nonsense workout, look no further than NY Best Kickboxing. More...

Whenever I am in New York, I ALWAYS attend classes here. I also follow and subscribe to Sifu David Ross' programs online. He puts out quality content whether you're in person or online . Sifu Ross has DECADES of experience in both traditional and modern martial arts instruction. In addition to quality instruction, I also get an amazing workout that leaves both exhausted and refreshed at the same time. Many times when I come to NYC I attend lengthy and exhausting seminars, and I sometimes don't want to go but I'm always glad I did when I leave. You also CANNOT beat the price especially in Manhattan!!! More...

After over 40 years in the martial arts, I count NY Best Kickboxing founder and chief instructor David Ross as an amazing colleague, and a dear, trusted friend. Exemplary in his field, he has traveled the world, training and learning from lineage masters, and great modern innovators alike. This knowledge and experience, and the passion that David Ross has for helping others find their own focus in fitness, traditional, and progressive martial arts programs is no less than inspirational, and will always put David Ross and New York Best Kickboxing at the vanguard!Michael GoodwinChief InstructorThe San FranciscoHung Gar Kung Fu Association More...

I can't say enough great things about the instructors and the quality of instruction I have received in the 18 months since I joined. I have lost 35 lbs and have to come to see this place as a refuge from the world. I have also been able to develop self confidence and feel good about myself. No class is the same, and the beauty of having different instructors is to learn something new in each class. David and his team have built an excellent program that keeps me getting better. You may not be able to do everything with the same precision as they can in the beginning, but like anything, practice makes perfect. I look forward to class every night because I know I will escape the real world for an hour. The other students are there for the same reason and are very supportive. You need to check it out - you will not be sorry! More...

Finally found a gym I love going to. Great staff, friendly members, amazing workout!!! I’ve been a member for over 2 years and when I first started I didn’t think I was going to be able to do it but the instructors are great and take their time to explain the proper technic, form and exercise. Doesn’t matter if you've been there one day or one year, you will always get a workout!! In the past, I’ve joined many other gyms and have done all different types of exercises but this is the only one that keeps me going. I found a groupon for this place while looking for kickboxing classes and thought it would be an easy way to start. I seldom comitt to anything, and I did about 4 classes until I finally signed up for a full membership. Been there about 6 months now and pretty darn happy.Distinctly different from a lot of kickboxing places, they have a staff of real martial artists and some former fighters. They even have people who have fought professionally here. Not that they will punch you or anything, but it's good to know you are getting real technique. Furthermore, for a bunch of pretty serious people, the atmosphere is pretty laid back and easy going. The jokes come fast, and are often pretty bad.Same token, this is a no frills experience. The product is the sessions, tons of sweat, and results. They have lockers but in a room with just a curtain. Bathroom is clean but small. You buy water out of what looks like a fridge someone's mom didn't need anymore!Wokouts though, seven days a week which is a major plus, are INSANE. I have never felt anything like it. Things ached I didn't know existed. But like I said after 6 months I am liking what I am seeing ane people are making nice comments. More...

Never thought I would do any exercise consistently this long, but not only did I see results, the classes remained quite fun! The place is just awesome, everyone friendly, a good sense of humor, quite a sweat.

Advice to anyone reading this, buy the groupon, it's a better deal than the web special. And they will give you a better start up offer if you start with a groupon. They are open 7 days a week but they do book up pretty quickly, a few friends had to wait a week for their first sessions.

Do not be intimidated, the staff is cool and very pro

Workout was much harder than I thought, but everyone was very friendly and staff was very patient. I was impressed. I guess if you are looking for an upper end spa treatment this is the wrong place; it IS very basic. But for an honest workout it is quite a find, and very reasonably priced. I have been a member here for several years, though off an on due to school and work conflicts. That is one of the best parts, they not only have monthly (which would never work for me), they also have class cards where the classes never expire. So I fall off the planet for six months and I can come back without a single issueWorkout is pretty intense, but I also like it is a real kickboxing class. They teach you technique along the way. Not at all like a karate class I took, they are very laid back and super friendly, but you really learn how to kick those bags. While some of the instructors were former fighters, the major direction here is fitness and everyone is welcome. If anyone is complaining in a review here, it is because they didn't want to behave like a normal person. Everyone who has been a member here has seen those people, you can't come into a class 20 minutes late and YES you need your gloves, it's kickboxing! If you are interested in getting a great workout that will produce results while meeting some cool new people, I strong recommend this place More...

Oh, and I am joking, there are also men in the classes. If I had one complaint, it would be the small locker rooms and now showers, but I have to say for a gym it is very clean. I also have to credit the teachers here, there are several, all different types and they teach great classes while keeping it always fresh and new.
