Not By Bread Alone

Attended the Packer game and found this gem next to the Comfort Inn.We stopped for lunch and breakfast. Clam Chowder was full of clams, veggies, and potatoes. The grab and go breakfast sandwiches are full of eggs, meat (sausage, ham, bacon), cheese and enclosed in a delicious bread. I ordered the flavored maple coffee and a cinnamon roll. AKA, NBBA, for those in the know. I have lived and/or worked in Green Bay for seven years, and in those seven years, I have never been disappointed by NBBA. Their seasonally-decorated sugar cookies are phenomenal for baby/bridal showers or sucking up to your co-workers. Coffee/lattes = always outstanding. Sausage bread ::heavy breathing:: They carry take-and-reheat/bake frozen soups and entrees (lobster bisque or lasagna, anyone). Currently crunching on a cherry danish (perfectly balanced ratio of sour cherries to sugar to cream cheese filling) paired with a caramel latte (perfect temperature, perfect ratio of espresso/milk/shot of caramel). I haven't had many of their sandwiches or salads only because the ones I have tried are so good that I return to those again and again. Basque Country Salad & the Asian Salmon Salad are my tried and trues. My only advice for a yelp-er is to either call in an order ahead of time or don't expect to get food like a half hour before they close, since they shut down their oven at that time. More...

I was at the Botanical Garden for the "Simply Elton" show, I wanted a salad and saw your stand there and I got the Spinach Salad. I mean, I know its just a salad but it was AMAZING, so filling. The salad dressing was so so good, there was such a good amount of chicken and cranberries and walnuts and the cheese, yummy! I even shared half of it with my Co-worker. So my nephew and I were in GB to check out Lambeau Stadium. Around 3PM, we left and decided to look for a local place for lunch before taking the nearly four hour trip back home. Down the road we went from Lambeau and all we saw were chain restaurants. We arrive at an intersection and I see this place quite aways down. Never heard of it before and figured if it was a chain, at least it would be one I had never tried. Asked if it was.... NOPE - a local spot! Outstanding.And pretty doggone good too! Had a spicy Italian Sandwich which was turkey, pepperoni and some slightly tangy peppers... really good and pretty unique as well. Nephew had a meatloaf sandwich that he really enjoyed. I also ordered some Chicken Chili Soup.... which had a pile of flavor. Three people, around college age working the shop when we were there between lunch and dinner - the place wasn't very busy at all yet all three of them were working hard at transitioning toward dinnertime offerings. We found this cafe on Yelp and will definitely be back. We are not from the area but will go out of our way to return in the future. We shared a smoked shaved turkey sandwich and the Basque Country Salad, and ordered a lemon bars to go. Everything was fresh, had fantastic flavor and we thoroughly enjoyed it while eating outside. I dont think Ive ever received a better experience in my life.. if I'm being honest. I order here very frequently to go. Im a little particular about what I do and don't want on my salads and they always nail it on the head. Today I did run into a bump when the salad wasnt what I wanted. I called expecting me to have to go pick the new one up (not a huge deal), but then she offered to bring me the new one. I wrapped up the old one and she brought my new salad in 10 mins with a smile. In the past with other companies the people are sort of nice and sort of judgey... I get it. but this time, I was greeted with a smile and she said "oh no you keep the other one and pass it on to someone else. Staff was extremely friendly!  I had the shaved turkey and loved it.  I opted for the veggies; the dipping sauce was awesome.  Also ordered a latte and was equally as impressed.  I travel the country and leave 5 stars when well deserved.  I will return here my next trip to Green Bay. More...
