I highly recommend Northstar funding. This was the first time I bought a house, and I had no idea what I was doing. But Jess Silva went above and beyond helping me through the entire process. Whenever I called, he quickly answered and took the time to explain everything to me. I even called him one night late in the evening, and he still took the time to help me. Whenever there was an issue, he quickly knew how to handle it to help me close on time. Rhodora Zapanta, senior loan processor, also did an excellent job helping me fulfill the requirements and get everything that the bank needed. My wife and I went through 4 different lenders before being paired up with Jess at Northstar. He went above and beyond what we could have expected—the issue that caused us problems with getting a loan other places was not only something he could work around, but also was a problem that he actually FIXED. Long story short, my wife’s ex had had a foreclosure we didn’t know about, and somehow her name was attached to the judgment. Rather than just saying ‘sorry, nothing we can do’, Jess actually tracked down the attorney that did the foreclosure, resolved the error, and got the foreclosure judgment REMOVED. I have used Jess twice now, and this latest time we were team with Rhodora. They are one of the most professional teams I have ever dealt with. It might seem like they are asking for a lot of "needless" documentation, I can tell you from experience, it is just because they know what the underwriter is going to want and they are in the long run saving a great deal of time. The lender of my primary residence is Quicken Loans and I initially worked with them when I decided to purchase a Pied A Terre apartment in NYC. i found Northstar Funding over the internet while searching for reputable mortgage brokers that could help me finance the purchase of a new home with less than stellar credit. I read the reviews and took a chance on Northstar Funding by leaving a phone message with my contact details. I left similar phone messages with 2 other mortgage companies; and within minutes Jess Silva of Northstar Funding called me back. In fact, they were the only company that called me back; and I took that as a positive sign. I worked with my loan officer Jess Silva. He was terrific. I was sensitive about not having perfect credit; and from the beginning, he reassured me that it was ok and that less than perfect credit happens to good people. Jess made the process very easy; and was very responsive and patient in answering all of my questions. He was honest in what to expect; and he told me that based on my information I would not have a problem getting a loan; and he was correct. I also worked with Rhodora Zapantos as my loan processor; and bot were wonderful in letting me know what documents was needed to complete the loan. I closed on time; and the final numbers in terms of closing costs and monthly mortgage payments were both lower than what Jess had originally estimated it would be (because he told me he rather err on the side of being conservative in his estimates so that there would be no surprises). I've bought and sold 2 other properties; and those previous closings always took several hours to complete. My closing with Northstr Funding took 30 minutes; and I was out the door with the keys to my new house. It was such an easy, streamlined process; and it was by far the fastest closing I've every been a part. I ended up with a great interest rate that was on par with others that have higher credit scores than me. Working with Jess and NS Funding has easily been the best experience I've ever had working with mortgage lender/broker; and I would recommend anyone who is looking to buy a home and need a loan to talk to Jess Silva and Northstar Funding. I worked with Northstar on the recommendation of a close friend, she had relied on NF for two previous home purchases. My seller was looking to close quickly and via NF we were able to close AMAZINGLY fast. Everyone was skeptical, my broker, attorney, and even the seller were not prepared when we got a clear to close in 12 days. From the time that I made the offer to my close date was exactly a month, and it could’ve been even faster had the seller been able to move out more quickly!
