How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Usually with the height of the loft. Although in some cases there are ways to gain the extra head height like lowering the ceilings.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
The scaffold goes up first, if its having a dormer, we would do this first to make sure everywhere is water tight then proceed with the floors etc. We would get the building inspector out at each stage of the job to make sure he is happy structural wise. If it is having a dormer we would work of the drawings to see what steel, timbers are needed etc, it would have breathable felt around to breath and 18mm ply for strength then clad it.
What do you love most about your job?
We enjoy changing unused space into extra living space. We always love seeing the customers reactions once the job is complete as they are usually shocked at how good the finished product looks..
What inspired you to start your own business?
After working in the building trade for 17 years it was natural progression to go in to business by myself.
