So I have my brother and his wife visiting from Kauai, Hi. They have never been to Lake Tahoe so I figured why not book a Fishing Charter to soak up the ambiance of the beauty of the lake. Met up with Mike of Nor-Cal Charters on a perfect morning and lake was smooth glass. Mike was so professional, hospitable, and knowledgeable guide. My wife enjoyed how great he was in teaching not only how to fish but also the history of Lake Tahoe. Mike made the experience so fun and easy. Put us on the fish all day. Nor- Cal Charters is the choice​ to go fishing here at Zephyr Cove. My wife and I went out Tuesday morning with Captain Mike. Captain Mike was very personable he really made the effort to catch fish. We caught 4 fish and had some time left so Capt Mike offered a boat ride to see Vikingsholm Tea House from Emerald Bay. The view was awesome we took many beautiful pictures. Met Captain Mike at the boat launch at 6am, shoved off, grabbed some minnows and hit the fishing spots. Mike is the best captain we've had in 3 Tahoe fishing trips! Caught 6 Mackinaws, kept 5 and had a great time!  Headed to Macduffs pub for an awesome fish dinner...definitely will fish with Captain Mike next year! More...

Highly recommend Andrew and his great crew! Seven of us staying at Zephyr Point for our 25th Family Conference went together, including my grandson (11), my son in law and my daughter, a friend and his daughter (11), and another friend. The boat was comfortable w/ plenty of room for all w/ inside and outside seating. Claire even enjoyed a short nap in the boat cabin's bed :). Fishing was good w/ Andrew and Capt. Mike getting us into the fish! Everyone caught at least one nice "Mac" and several hooked up multiple times. They provided all the tackle and bait plus drinks. They even baited the hooks for those wanting help. We basically "just showed up!" It was a beautiful day on the lake w/ family and friends, listening to entertaining fishing stories. We had a great time with Captain Mike.  He knew the best spot to find fish and most importantly, he was very patient with our kids (4 and 7). He helped the kids reel in the fish, said they were his "first mates" and helped them to have a wonderful trip. We thought they would be bored in 5 minutes, but we all had a great time. We really can't say enough how much we enjoyed our fishing trip with Nor Cal and Capt. Mike. They were courteous and helpful from the first call to them. We checked out 4 companies on the Lake but chose this one because of price and the helpfulness over the phone. Our decision proved correct with the way were treated before, during and after the trip. I've piloted boats all my life and Mike was clearly attentive to everything the whole trip. It's no wonder this place has a 5 star overall review. Andrew and Nick gave me and my friends an excellent experience. If you were in the same boat as I was (no pun intended) and you had to choose between other Charters in Tahoe and Nor Cal charters, definitely choose the latter. Nor cal charters has no upfront charges, and they give the best experience. Also, rather than squishing you all on a tiny boat, Nor cal charters has a limit to the amount of people on the boat, which gave us a lot of room to fish, have fun, interact, and learn from the Fish Whisperer himself (Andrew). Wonderful experience! Will definitely fish again with these guys when back in the area! Andrew and Mike were both super accommodating, especially after having to reschedule due to high winds and unfavorable weather conditions. Mike was our captain and was amazing to fish with! Not only was he a great guy and super easy to get along with, but he helped out in every aspect-from baiting our hooks, bc it was so cold he didn't want us freezing, and teaching us (really me) how to fish, to gutting the fish and recommending an absolutely wonderful pub that would cook our fish three ways right after catching! Mike took us out to his favorite fishing spots and even boated us over to some great scenery and offered great photo ops. Will recommend this company to ANYONE that's in the area! Had an awesome day of fishing with Captain Mike on his boat the 'Tight Lines'. Loved his positive energy and his willingness to make sure we all had a good time and catch a lot of fish. The day started out wondering if we should go out due to high wind advisory, we rolled the dice and it was a perfect day on the lake with just a little wind. Fishing was our top priority while in Tahoe.  I did my research before arrival and was handed a flyer by our concierge for Nor-Cal Charters.  I checked reviews and off we went.  Captain Andrew is incredibly knowledgeable about the lake and where to find the fish.  The boat was perfect, not too big and not too small, with a covered area to hide from any inclement weather.  The boat was very clean and refreshments were provided for the boat, the Kit Kats are his  :-).  I only wish we'd have booked for the entire day...next time!  I highly recommend Captain Andrew and Nor-Cal Charters.  You'll enjoy the fishing and his amusing stories. These guys are great! We booked a charter with them for our annual fishing trip to the sierras and caught a ton of fish. We were treated professionally and shown a great time, the boat and equipment were very clean and they had all our gear ready including snacks and beers.Mike was our guide, he's a real pro and very knowledgeable about the lake and fishing in general. Growing up in Vermont I've done my share of fishing for lake trout. When booking a trip I had expectations like every fisherman that we might catch one or two and that would be a good day for me, but it ended up being a different story. As soon as we got to the fishing grounds my wife instantly caught a fish and in a hour and half three of us had our limits. I have gone on other small charters and can say this is the best I've been on. Capt. Andrew will put you on the fish and keep you entertained with his stories. He is very professional and knows exactly what he's doing. Going out with Nor-Cal on Lake Tahoe was probably the most fun fishing I have ever had. I took my father in-law out and we couldn't stop talking about how fun it was for the next two days. Andrew was professional yet personable. He handled all the dirty work for us, and kept us entertained with some good fish stories. He knew just the spots to go and when to move to find more fish. Excellent way to spend half a day in Tahoe, and that's saying a lot since we got up at 4am for the 6am charter. Had a great time today out on the lake with captain Andrew. If your new to fishing, captain Andrew is very helpful and you'll be fishing like a pro in no time. We enjoyed the scenery, caught a few mackinaw, and got along great with everyone on the boat. I reccomend bringing a few snacks, but I wouldn't go crazy since there's no bathroom aboard the boat. My wife set up an afternoon excursion with Andrew with this company. When we arrived at the ramp, he had the motor running and was ready to go. We ended up catching a couple good size mackinaw trout after about 4 hours out. Andrew was totally laid back and easy to talk to. Beverages and some snacks were provided at no additional cost including beer. After we caught our limit, he was kind enough to clean them for us and refer us to a local restaurant that would cook them up for us. First off I cant believe I am the first one to review this charter. A big shout out to Capt. Andrew for breaking me and my buddy Isaac out of a horrible fishing streak of not catching a single thing. (not even a bite!) We took a last minute trip to Tahoe with some friends. I got the idea of getting a charter since I have never fished in Lake Tahoe before. We searched probably every different charter in the area. There were a few that seemed pretty good, but Nor-Cal Charter stood out. We talked to Capt. Andrew. He is a super chill guy and knows what he is talking about. The 5 hours we spent on the boat seemed like 2. We had such a great time. I am an avid fisherman and have been fishing my whole life from fly to lakes from ocean piers to the surf but fishing with Nor-Cal charter was one of the most fun times I have had in awhile fishing. I'm sure that every time you go your not going to catch something, fishing isn't a guarantee. If you want to have a good time, hang out with some cool knowledgeable fisherman, and have the highest possibility of catching something then choose Nor-Cal Charters. More...
