It is has been my great pleasure to work with Nina Williams of Nina Williams Designs on the remodel of my older home in Poway, CA. I trusted Nina’s professional judgment and instincts in all areas of design from our first meeting through the entire project.

Nina provided clear choices while listening to my preferences in style, color and materials. She proved invaluable in advising my contractor many times regarding balance and spacial orientation in the kitchen, bathrooms and common rooms. Her range of experience and her personal taste made the design project seamless. I especially appreciated Nina’s integrity and personal concern for the final outcome of my home.

I really enjoyed working with Nina and highly recommend her for any of your design projects.

Nina did an amazing job working with us on our bungalow style home in Cardiff. We were attempting to make multiple changes to our home on our own, but quickly realized we were stuck. We reached out to a friend who is a designer before concluding that we really needed an outside 3rd party professional to come in and get us back on track. Nina was the one who did that.

Nina came in and very quickly had us focused in on what we wanted to accomplish. Our project included selecting new wood floors, paint, additional lighting, baseboards, crown, and custom wood casings. We also worked with Nina on designing a custom fireplace door and custom cabinetry and floating shelves in the den. After that, she worked with us on some new furniture pieces to round out the remodel. Nina is a great listener, very patient, professional and open to the customer’s likes and dislikes. She was a pleasure to work with and is highly recommended.

Thanks again – Jim & Beth

Nina’s firm has reliably worked on our personal residences in Point Loma over the past 28 years. This past year Nina orchestrated the remodel of our 1940’s Spanish Bungalow, updating the bathrooms, fireplace, finishes & furnishings for this little gem. Nina works seamlessly with all of our trades/vendors (my husband is a general contractor). She gets things done!
We have always been able to relay on Nina and her years of experience and expertise in the design field to make all things beautiful, timeless and up to date. We will continue to use Nina on all of our projects.

I was at my wit’s end when I hired Nina. I had already tried countless furniture arrangements and DIY projects, paid an architect and hired two designers to work on the vision for my home, -- all unsuccessful. I was told time and time again by other professionals that my living room could not accommodate the seating I desired. I had seen some of Nina’s work through various friends and really liked the function and beauty of Nina’s designs. I decided to give it one last try with a focus on the living room; and boy, I’m sure glad I did! First, let me say that Nina is a joy to work with on a personal level. She is professional, but quite warm and pleasant (with a good sense of humor, I might add). Most of all, she listened – actually listened – to what my goals were for the space. My goals were her goals, which was a refreshing change of pace from what I experienced with others. Nina came up with a floor plan and design elements that I would have never thought of and it is BEAUTIFUL. She has an amazing talent to visualize space and think outside of the box, giving my home the classic, yet casual feel I yearned for. Her knack for incorporating architectural features, custom built-ins, lighting, gorgeous fabrics and color makes every space she designs singular and inviting. More...

We decided to remodel our home in three phases over three summers. The first year we did the living room and family room, removing the old carpeting and staining the concrete floor. Nina designed the family room fireplace, replacing the red brick with stacked stone, concrete columns, a concrete mantle and a flat screen TV. Nina replaced a dated and unused wet bar with a computer nook. She was the project designer and brought in different trades to do the work. She oversaw everything from beginning to end. We were so pleased with how both rooms turned out, we couldn't wait to get started on the kitchen. Once again Nina was the designer and brought in an excellent craftsman who created our custom cabinets and an eating peninsula which Nina designed with a bookcase facing the family room. All the trades were top-notch, professionals, who worked on time and on budget. When you hire Nina, you get her design skill and an excellent team who can turn her designs into reality with no surprises. With Nina you are getting a project manager who will oversee the whole job. She listens to what your want and don't want, to your ideas and your schedule and your budget and puts everything together. She can narrow what seems like endless choices to a realistic number and when you can't decide, you can trust her professional judgment to be something you'll be happy with because she has taken the time to get to know you. We found two tiles depicting Torrey pines -- iconic to the San Diego area, and she recommended putting them in the concrete columns of our fireplace -- offsetting them, one under the mantel and one closer to the floor. It is something we wouldn't have thought of, but is perfect. She picked the right color to paint our walls and the right color for our grout in a matter of seconds, saving me hours of staring at paint chips and a color wheel of grout. And if you like to go to showrooms, which I do, she knows the best ones to go to, again saving you time. She is very accessible, answering all your emails, phone calls and text messages. We are so pleased with how our living room, family room and kitchen turned out, we can't wait to start on our upstairs where Nina has redesigned our master bathroom and bedroom. Let the demo begin because we know we are going to love the finished product, thanks to Nina. More...

Q&As

Nina meets with each client for an initial working design consultation. Typically building plan sets are desired (if available) so that a to scale furniture floor plan, electrical &/or lighting plans can be generated. Budget and time are considered as plans are drawn up and estimates for each item are produced.

Timeless, tastefull serenity is what Nina strives to achieve for her clients. Each client has their own style that Nina tries to enhance, educate and cater to. Trends are avoided with architectural aspects prominently respected and preserved.

Making people happy in their own personally created space. Meeting new clients that end up being great friends.

My families legacy as architects as inspiring. I always admired my grandparents and the generations before them and the accomplishments they achieved(Chicagos World Fair, DC union Station, City Plan of Chicago, San Francisco & Manilla, Flat Iron Building, etc). Growing up in Mid Centuray Modern Palm Springs was a huge influence also. Working with the late Steven Chase as my mentor was a great experience.

I know what I'm doing. I'm educated with an associated arts degree in interior design. I have years of experience and hundreds of sources. I won't make any costly mistakes. I'll save clients time and money while giving them a custom bespoke beautifully designed home.
