I did used this Cie, for the first time in 2020 as he was referred to me by my daughter’s neighbour, to redecorate a flat I was moving in. Ali, the manager of this business took the job on but was on his phone all the time, making and taking calls.I had to put my foot down for it to stop and get the job to done as I was not paying for that. Unbeknown to me, he gave access to the property to 2 of his friends and was surprised to see me coming back earlier, I could hear them laugh behind the door as I was entering the flat, the music was loud and he was having a break. He justified the 2 friends stating they had come to support him- I made it clear he would have to pay them on his wage and I wanted him alone to take responsibility for the job he had agreed to take on. The work got delayed by 1 week, but I managed to have the flat done in time to move in.
End of may 2022, I asked him to come and do a job for me: he realised I was being scammed but said nothing and proceeded to the job he, himself, estimated to be a 5 days job. What was 1 week, turned into 2, then he stopped turning up in time to finally, skipped days and week to finally drop the job leaving me with an unfinished business. The room was left with damaged brackets of my blinds I had to reorder. The storage heater removed unproperly, was also unproperly put back up: it is scratched and its feet were torn in the process, left temporarily on its own weight: I have to pay for its replacement which might be more than first estimated.
My bedroom door, a fire door, was left hanging on the top and bottom hinges despite the fact that I had warned him of potential damage to the hinges and this is exactly what happened the door could not close properly and since he damaged the hinges in their removal, since I could not trust him any longer witnessing the damage being done. I had to pay a professional to repair the damage. But worse, He knew the work would damage my floor as he admitted the last day he turned up that he knew all along it was a scam, nevertheless he proceeded damaging permanently my floor which was 2 years old. When asked why he said nothing, he could not justify himself. It is clear he took advantage of me to make money on a job, he knew would need amending, hence more hours than originally planned, so that was good money for him.
In conclusion, I am left with a minimum of £200 fee to pay for the damage he has done to my bedroom door and to the storage heater - but this is just a first estimate- to which I have to add a further £886 for the floor to be replaced. Since I struggled to keep track of his coming since it has become unpredictable leaving me for days without any call, when he answering his phone at all.. I realised I had overpaid him by a day by mistake, I messaged him and he answered I owe him the 2 last hours he took to put a second coat on 2 doors, not to mentioned this was a bodge job. I mentioned back the damage he is leaving behind and the cost it induced, he sent me a smiley which speak volume about his honesty and then when I mention the overpayment again, he texted me he was blocking me, removing on my side all evidence compromising him badly.
I still have my whatsapp conversation with him, since I blocked him there first, planning to put an end to this nightmare.
He showed himself unreliable on the job, communication was questionable and his honesty and integrity void and null. I thought of leaving a review to warn people, for my experience to be a deterrent for anyone thinking of using this Cie. The owner is one of the most dishonest and calculating person I have ever met in Brighton and would encourage people to think twice before considering using this Cie.
I should have noticed the red flags in 2020 and should have left it at that, but unfortunately, I did not. Let’s my costly mistake be a lesson to future potential clients. I kept evidence of the damage done so I can back up all that I have stated in this review.
