I perform in a table hopping and/or mix and mingle format. I perform with cards, coins and various other small objects employing advanced levels of sleight of hand presented at very close range.

The surprise when members of the general public realise what the difference is between a close up magician and a children's entertainer. Many people have not seen close up magic performed live. People frequently expect a silly billy clown making balloon models and are very surprised to see the kind of things that I am doing. I have a particular strong interest in coin magic which I perform to a very advanced level. Coin magic is highly visual and my routines are designed to look like real magic.

I have been doing magic for many years. When I got made redundant from a career in Network Administration I did retrain but was unable to secure similar employment due to competition from much younger applicants. After many setbacks I decided to try and do magic full time. I registered with many agents. advertised on various 3rd party websites, created my own website and got myself performing at as many high profile corporate events as possible.

For the same reason you would not hire a butcher when you need a brain surgeon, you should not hire a Children's Entertainer (who supposedly dabbles in close up magic) to perform close up magic. There are literally hundreds of Children's Entertainers moonlighting as close up magicians. In all my years of performing I have yet to come across a single individual who claims to be able to do both that can in fact do so. Children's Entertainers are totally different from close up magicians. An entirely different mindset, not found in a single individual. Most online directories, including this one, do not distinguish between children's entertainers and close up magicians, referring to both as magicians.
