When looking for a wedding photographer, my fiancé and I did quite a bit of research. We were looking for not only amazing pictures, but also hoping to find someone that we would enjoy working with. He was incredibly personable from the first time we spoke, he walked through everything with us step by step, and no matter what was going on he always had time for us. I honestly cannot speak enough good words about Nick. Not only is he an amazing photographer with a serious gift but he is just so fun to hang out with. My finance and I had such a great time on our engagement shoot, we both felt like we were just hanging out with one of our good buddies. We left our engagement shoot on cloud nine and even more excited for our actual wedding day. Then less than two weeks later we got our photos back and they are absolutely incredible! My husband and I cannot recommend Nick enough for your wedding day and engagement photos! He was professional and responsive throughout the entire wedding planning process. We were looking for a photojournalism look with as few staged pictures as possible outside the formal shots, and Nick far exceeded our expectations. He captured the relaxed, happy spirit of the day, and the quality of his work is the same (if not better!) as other photographers I spoke with who were MUCH more expensive. We got an edited collection of "preview" images that he displayed on his laptop at the reception, and we received the digital link to all of them the day after the wedding. We also received the full collection (well over 1000 pictures) less than six weeks after the big day. Nick also worked seamlessly with the videographer we hired who he met the day of the wedding and kept his cool with some last minute location changes. There are so many amazing shots to choose from that we're having trouble narrowing it down for an album! His second photographer, Josh, was also friendly, professional, and easy to work with! As an extra bonus, my husband hates being photographed, and Nick was able to get him to relax and be natural in front of the camera. .To say that my fiance and I leaned on Nick for his advice throughout our planning process would be an understatement. Nick is extremely responsive, helpful and gracious with his time, advice and talent. We have had several calls going though the run of show for our wedding and throwing out different idea's to Nick and he is always very helpful and insightful and never judged us for all our ridiculous questions!!! We lined up several phone calls with photographers when we first got engaged, hoping to find the perfect photographer to capture our special day. Nick was the first photographer we spoke to and he definitely left a lasting impression. Not only is his work breath-taking but the way he spoke to us and walked us through his process and his journey and passion for photography really set us at ease. Nick also really took the time to get to know us, he set the bar high and at the end of the day made it a very easy choice for us in who we wanted to photograph our weddingNick drove out from Richmond to Great Falls to take our engagement photos and his work is INCREDIBLE. I really don't like being photographed and engagement photo's are such an intimate thing and Nick was AMAZING. Nick was our wedding photographer.  He was extremely personable and friendly from our first meeting and really took the time to get to know us.  We did not get a chance to do engagement pictures because we were planning from the other side of the country, but our wedding photo turned out beautifully.  He even put some of the photos he had just taken up on a slide show during the reception for guests to look at and printed some out for us to see that day.  I am super pleased with how the pictures turned out and would recommend Nick to anyone! My financé and I are not the most photogenic people. The thought of engagement shoot made us both feel a little awkward and nervous. From the moment Nick showed up, he made us feel really relaxed. My fiancé and I had a short engagement and had to be on top of it for all of our wedding planning. We heard about Nick from a friend of ours that knew him. We immediately checked out his website and loved what we saw. While I admit I’m not a super creative person, I could see something that stood out in Nick’s work. Right from the start he was super accommodating and worked hard to make sure our needs were met and that we were happy. We looked at dozens of photographers in the Richmond area, and kept coming back to the simple, sincere beauty of Nick’s work. Our wedding would start outside and then move under a tent for the reception. There would be sunlight and sunset and indoor light and lowlight, and Nick had examples of how he handled each, and they were all stunning.

We set up a time to speak to Nick over Skype (we’re in Brooklyn) and talked through how we envisioned our wedding. At the time, neither my wife nor I had any strong vision, so it was really Nick asking us smart questions and really listening to our answers, helping us to create a narrative for the day of how we hoped it would all go. We finished the call even more confident that we had made the right choice on who would photograph our wedding.

Skip forward to the wedding day: Nick is early and ready to go almost immediately, keeping us on schedule, capturing the getting ready portion. He’s relaxed and charming, never invasive, and terrific at capturing the entire room and process. He was like that all evening, seamlessly blending in to our ceremony and reception, camera at the ready. When he did our portraits and the set family shots, he was efficient without making anyone feel rushed.

When the shots came in, we were (and remain) over the moon. Nick got everything. He got everyone at their best. His photos are creative and warm and true to the feel of the day. See for yourself. Working with Nick was a start-to-finish joy. I would be thrilled to work with him again, and I recommend him to anyone looking to have their best moments captured.

Nick photographed our wedding on September 18, 2016. Throughout the months leading up to our wedding, Nick set up times to get coffee and dinner and routinely checked in with us. My wife and I were both extremely impressed with how much Nick truly cared about getting to know us, and what we cared about and wanted out of our wedding photographs. We were more than just clients to Nick. He truly cared about capturing our day and the things about it that we wanted and we developed a really great friendship with him and his wife throughout the process. It made it so much less stressful knowing that he had everything under control and we could just enjoy the day.
Even more impressive than Nick’s work prior to the wedding was how Nick conducted himself on the day of our wedding. He was professional, on time and ready to go. Wedding days are stressful, but Nick was not something we stressed about. He always seemed to be at all the right places to get great photos, but also somehow managed to stay completely out of the way and not interfere with the ceremony or guests’ views. When it came time for family photos, Nick was able to take charge and wrangle our large families and coordinate everyone to get the shots we needed. I also don’t think Nick took a break at any point during the entire night, even after we encouraged him to relax and eat some food! He was the last one to the leave the venue and worked his butt off the entire night. You can really tell that Nick has great experience shooting weddings. It’s hard to sum it up any better than that. He knows what he is doing.
The pictures turned out even better than we could have ever hoped. They are simply stunning. On top of that, he got them back to us incredibly fast. He absolutely killed it and we are so grateful to him. We are so happy we got to know Nick throughout this process. After searching high and low for a reasonably priced photographer for an engagement session, we found Nick. Upon meeting him, we were completely put at ease because he listened to and built on our suggestions, clearly explained how the session would work, and answered all of the questions we had. The actual shoot day was just as easy and effortless; he spent plenty of time getting a variety of shots so that we would have a lot of options. There was little direction (the poses and suggestions he did make were really great and ended up being some of our favorite pictures), and we were comfortable and felt natural the entire time. Nick did our wedding (6.11.16) and engagement photos and was absolutely amazing! We got married in Richmond, VA but now live and did all our planning from Los Angeles, CA - which made planning more challenging. Nick was so accommodating and easy to work with, from having preliminary meetings via facetime, making an effort to meet us in person over the holidays, and doing our engagement shoot just a few days before the wedding when we were both back in town.

He did an amazing job wrangling in our wild and crazy wedding party while also having fun with us! He even got a slideshow of some of the wedding shots running at the reception and they were a huge hit among our guests!

Almost every couple is trying to do the same thing when it comes to a photographer. They want $10,000.00 service for a $2,000 price. We were no different. We shopped around for photographers and met some who did great work but weren't the most approachable. Great people, but the style of photography wasn't our cup of tea. But then we met Nick and felt like he wasn't just another photographer working with just another client, but someone who genuinely cared about us as a couple and not just as a source of income. Seriously, what a great guy! Nick has an intimacy about his photography that is unparalleled from anyone that we’ve encountered. He cares deeply about not only the photos that are beautiful or artistic, but the ones that will be the most memorable for his clients. As our wedding photographer, he was extremely perceptive in covering every nook and cranny. In fact, funny story: we had a snafu where Nick originally told us that we would have two photographers present. Well, it came to pass that one dropped out—we calmly accepted this and had faith in Nick—especially since he was very reassuring that He would take care of things. He did just that. He informed us the week of the wedding that not only would he be there, but two more photographers were coming as well! Didn’t charge more, didn’t say we needed to compensate them, nothing! He truly wanted us to felt taken care of, and he scrambled to find not just another photographer, but he went above and beyond and found two! What a guy!
As far as picture quality, artistic ability, and whatnot, Nick is highly skilled. His eye sees things that normally wouldn’t register to me to take—and I’m a photographer! He brilliantly captures the mood of the subjects and what’s going on around them all the while capturing their hearts, too. Already, only a year into our marriage, we have sat down numerous times and looked through our photo album together and, because of his photos (quality and quantity), we are able to relive the experience each time.
In essence, if you’re looking for any type of photography, whether it’s portraits, family pictures, engagement session, wedding—this is your guy. He will absolutely take care of you. On our wedding day, Nick was so much more than an excellent photographer. He was a swiss army knife. When we had trouble with our sound system (and later our projector) he was an audiovisual expert; when time came for family pictures, he displayed an unrivalled knack for herding strangers and handling delicate family situations, and when all the groomsmen tried to walk into the ceremony with unsilenced cell phones, he confiscated them. Most importantly, Nick is always an artist but never set in his ways. He thrives on intuiting what appeals to you and catering his unique style accordingly. While we aren't the most outgoing people, he understood that making us comfortable was the best way to get us to naturally display the level of intimacy required for bridal portraiture. We really appreciated that he prepared a slideshow of unedited ceremony photos for display at the reception and that he made sure to take a few Polaroid pictures throughout the day so we didn't part ways with him emptyhanded. Before I met Nick, I had actually already booked another photographer, but wasn't quite sure if they were on the same page as me, so I kept looking.
Nick was incredible accommodating from day one. He set up a time to meet with us and drove more than halfway to get there. As soon as we sat down and started talking, I knew he understood our vision for our day and would do everything he could to make us happy and provide us memories of a lifetime. He even made sure to be at the rehearsal in order to scope out where the best pictures would be taken and what the lighting would be like, etc.
The day of he kept us at ease and comfortable the whole time, making sure all of the pictures on our list were taken and then some. Nick (with assistant Rachel) photographed our daughter's wedding in Charlottesville, Va. He met us bright and early in the morning to take photos of the bride getting ready. He then photographed the church ceremony with traditional group portraits afterward. He willingly escorted bride and groom to UVA grounds (their alma mater) for amazing photos there. He then traveled about 40 minutes to a winery in the area for the reception shots. His preliminary photos look simply AMAZING and we can't wait to see the entire package! Nick and Rachel were incredibly pleasant and friendly, and willing to take whatever photos we wanted. But more importantly, Nick used his own talents to capture images that truly depicted the beauty and happiness of the day. He truly has a gifted eye, and his photos have a depth that goes well beyond a snapshot.
Other than one slight snafu of getting a bit lost on the way to the winery, everything went flawlessly. Nick and Rachel were there capturing the moments, but you hardly knew they were there at all.

We absolutely loved working with Nick! The photos were amazing. Both Nick and his assistant were incredibly accommodating. It rained on our wedding day but Nick was able to creatively work around the dreary weather and get some stunning shots. I can't imagine that we could have gotten a better photographer to work with even if we had spent more money. Nick quickly edited a few of the really good ones and put a small slideshow out on one of the tables during the wedding for the guests to look at. He was always there for every important moment.
