What makes a great website?
A great website is one that delivers on its business objectives. Simple.
Or is it? For a website (or any digital product for that matter) to deliver on its business objectives it must put the end user at the centre of the design process to ensure that the finished product or service matches their needs and requirements.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
- What is your budget & timescale?
- Are you looking to receive payments online?
- Do you have content available for the project and what state is this in, early draft, signed off in progress?
- Do you need us to handle hosting or do you have an existing or specific requirement?
- What existing brand assets do you have, that we need to work with (Logo, Style Guide etc.)?
- Do you need us to help with any positioning/brand definition before we move ahead?
- What data do you have about your target market/users or will we need to research this?
Describe your creative process.
We follow a User-Centred Design approach which is the result of over a decade of design & development for some of the world’s leading brands.
The 3 key basic cyclical phases are:
1) Understand (Research: Understand the business and target audience)
2) Create (Rapidly sketch, wireframe, HTML prototype, visual design & code)
3) Evaluate (Finally we test each level of prototype, from sketches to final visual design on actual users to feed back into 1) ‘Understand’ phase ⤴)
Every deliverable, will have gone through these ratifying cycles to ensure your customers love using your product and your Finance Director will love that too!
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
You know your business better that anyone so if you have existing information that will help inform the design process that would be fantastic but we also realise that sometimes you might want us to help to gather that research or material.
- The content (unless you would like us to produce it?)
- The user data (unless you would like us to research it?)
- Access to the domain DNS (unless you would like us to buy a domain and set it up for you?)
- Access to Analytics data (if you have any? Or again we can set that up too)
