A year ago I left the gym because I was not happy with their service and the staff was not nice so I decided to move to another place, I looked for a lot of recommendations and I asked a lot of friends and after a period that I did not practice I decided to go to Nerdstrong Gym and I am satisfied with this decision.

I joined Nerdstrong last December after reading some of the Yelp reviews on this page. Now, rereading them, I have tears in my eyes - not just because they resonate so deeply with my personal experience, but because I know a lot of these people now. The best thing about Nerdstrong - the thing that has kept me coming to the gym for 9 months (which is about 6 months longer than I've ever been able to commit to any other fitness regimen in my entire life) is the community. Most of the classes I go to are at 7 AM, and I am *not* a morning person. I wake up to my alarm clock, roll into exercise clothes, and drive up to the gym thinking, "how the heck did I get here? I'm pretty sure I'm still asleep."But the moment I walk into the gym, the energy hits me like a wall. I'm met with a group of wonderful people, many still rubbing the sleep out of their eyes like I am - but they are warm, supportive, and ready to rock. A few months ago, I fell off the exercise wagon for a few weeks, and when I came back, several people asked where I had been and told me they'd missed me. Now *that's* community! The owner, Andrew (happy birthday!), is the driving force behind this place. He's encouraging and inspiring. He pushes us to get stronger, work harder, do better - but he also offers scale-downs and modifications for beginners and people with injuries or disabilities. This is the first time I can genuinely say that I've found a fitness routine I can see sticking to. If you're looking for something sustainable, run, don't walk to Nerdstrong. (Or you know what? You can drive - they'll have you run when you get there anyway.) More...

I’ve been a part of this gym since it opened. For four years, Nerdstrong has meant family. We’re all in this together, and we’ll laugh, cry, challenge, and cheer each other along as we learn how to take care of ourselves for the better. From day one the coaches throughout the years have expanded my horizons when it comes to fitness. I’ve changed my mindset for the better, and while I have my ups and downs this gym and the community has supported me the whole way. Yay, fitness. More...

I started taking classes here during the summer of '13. I had already lost some weight and was moderately active. However, after coming here, the way I view myself has changed dramatically. I never thought of myself as "strong." I do now. I never thought I'd run a mile in under 10 minutes (not that we do a lot of long-distance running here). And now I do. I've taken classes other places, but what sets this place apart is the camaraderie among the members, and the good humor of Andrew Deutsch and Marla Hudnall. They make what can be a grueling workout actually fun.

And they'll whip your ass into shape.

Exercises are similar to what you might find at a Crossfit box, but they always have scale down and scale up options available depending on your ability. The coaches are all excellent. The real reason to come is for the community. Everyone is incredibly encouraging and we motivate one another with zero competitiveness. More...

Thanks to them and the other members, working out is one of the best parts of the day, not a chore to check off a list. More...

This place is home away from home. The small class sizes, personal attention are second to none. The community is even better than the coaching, working out with like minded people who are constantly encouraging one another is something very special about Nerdstong. Andrew the owner is always attentive and willing to go above and beyond when it comes to indiviual injuries or problems. Often times, when I've had an issues it's the next day or a few days later and he's done extensive research about how to facilitate my issue. It's amazing to watch the growth in other members over time. Everyone is on their own journey, but we're all doing it together. We are NERDSTRONG. More...

I'm just your average 40 something year old guy, I don't eat properly and try and workout on occasion but usually fail. I'm overweight and it's starting to effect my health. I've joined gyms in the past and would go for a week or two but eventually I'd stop either from boredom or lack of motivation. So I was skeptical when my buddy Andrew Seely mentioned this new gym that he joined and loved. He tired for almost a year to get me to go but I kept putting it off as I was out of work and lacked the funds. Well with the help of Andrew and many of my amazing friends they pooled some funds together to get me a two month membership. I met head coach Andrew and did the 1 on 1 with him. After that I spent the next 45 minutes in their bathroom throwing up and lying on their cool cool floor. While lying there I realized that I had let myself down, I was out of shape and ashamed of what I had become. But coach Andrew lite a fire in my belly and I came back two days later for my first workout and haven't looked back. I LOVE it... the people are great, the coaches are awesome and to make it even extra special, everyone is super nerdy/geeky. After my first workout I loved it so much that I had planned to come everyday but of course friends talked me out of that and I settled into a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday routine. I did that for the entire month of February.

I'm not going to lie... the workouts are some of the hardest workouts that I have ever done and during the first few weeks there wasn't a day that my body didn't hurt.. but it was so worth it. Just after a month I'm noticing big changes on how my clothes are fitting. As I begin my second month with NerdStrong I have added two additional classes/days to my schedule. I am now working out Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

This is the first time that I am happy to come to the gym. I look forward to my gym visits and the tough workouts. When I finish the workout and after about ten minutes to recoup I'm looking forward to my next workout.. I didn't think I'd ever feel this way about working out. Andrew and his team are amazing and if you're considering getting into shape this is the place for you.. especially if you're a nerd.

Nerdstrong saved my booty. While alas a model/actress I've always been concerned about my weight and that evil scale, Needstrong got my head around that it's about more than just pounds. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but it's hard when you're just staring at a scale all the time.

Nerdstrong not only has personal coaches guiding you through group work outs and weight training routines, but they being in specializes health professionals in mini seminars to help you other aspects of your body. My favorite was Fit-Fax that could accurately measure my muscle mass and BMR. The food seminars are great too.

And of course I get to work out with a terrific group of geeks and nerds who love the same stuff I do! If you have trouble feeling comfortable at the gym or in groups that is so not an issue here. Just watch our when they roll a D8 for those Burbies, lol! And now squats have become my new friend.

Wednesday will mark one month at Nerdstrong for me, and I could not be happier. I'm new to lifting and was always terrible at calisthenics, but the coaches are quick to help you. Even in the larger classes, they still find a way to give you individualized attention. They remember who you are, where you struggle, and where you're strong. The community is incredibly supportive, too. I've found myself wanting to eat better so that I'll have more successful workouts. Maintaining fitness is a long road, but I can already see my weak points being strengthened. My favorite Nerdstrong moment so far was in a Dexterity class, when we were doing Crow Pose. I went into the workout thinking, "That is just not a thing my body can do." But with Coach David's guidance, I got it in under 20 minutes! (I had also been going to Coach Crisann's yoga classes for two weeks, and that definitely helped with my confidence and ability!) I've mentioned coaches by name, so I don't want to leave out Coach Andrew's and Coach Marla's dedication to increasing my wrist and shoulder mobility, Coach Kimi's epic workout mix and encouragement for Saturday Boss Battles, Coach Blair's cheerfully intense workouts (that are murder in the moment but feel really great after), and Coach Christy's assistance in scaling.
I cannot say enough positive things about this gym and the people who work and workout here. Hope to see you there soon!

There are many ways to be a great gym, and Nerdstrong unquestionably is. It's rarer for it also to be such a powerful source of community.

Since joining Nerdstrong, the people here have become the mainstay of my social life. There are board game nights and other events at the gym, but just as often there’s an ad hoc gathering of folks coming together to see the latest Marvel movie or simply grab a butterbeer together after work. I’ve found two different DnD groups and a weekly movie buddy already! If you’re worried you’re “not nerdy enough,” there’s no nerd litmus test: some references may go over my head, but I never feel lesser for it, and there’s always someone who will love the things you love, from Hamilton (which we blast while benching), to Battlestar Galactica, to the finer points of Cyclops’ characterization in late 2000s comics. I also want to note that, for women who are concerned at the prospect creepy nerds or creepy gym dudes, this is one of the few environments where I have not ONCE encountered someone who behaved inappropriately. Not once! And our sense of community extends to the workouts themselves, where everyone is supportive and encouraging, cheering you on whether you’re putting that fourth plate on the bar for deadlifts, or finally getting that first strict push-up.

But for competitors and athletes, Nerdstrong is an excellent gym qua gym too. The coaches push you, but push *smart:* no one leaves feeling unchallenged like they had a lot left in the tank, but no one feels like they have something to prove and risk injury either. Injury just means time not training and gaining! “Listen to your body” is the phrase I hear over and over again at Nerdstrong, and it’s refreshing to work with smart, knowledgable coaches, nerds themselves who don’t think that nerdiness is any reason to use kid gloves. THIS is how to address gym intimidation: by showing people of all backgrounds that they can go hard, excel, and meet their goals.

I've tried at failed my attempts at fitness in the past. I decided it was time to commit to a gym when I turned 23 and realized I couldn't do a push up or couldn't run a mile, and unless I changed something, I was only going to get worse. At 23, I felt like I should be in the best shape of my life. After just 3 months at Nerdstrong, I am, and I know I'm only going to get stronger and healthier. The coaches are helpful, personal, kind and intensely concerned with the comfort and success of their clients. Their attention to detail and focus on proper form not only keeps you safe and effective, but delivers fast results! Classes are comprehensive, varied and easy to schedule through the slick Nerdstrong website. They add new classes and events all the time, from yoga, to food prep, to mental health to help you create the fitness plan best for you.

However, Nerdstrong isn't just about fitness for me. I found out about the gym on a cosplayer's instagram, and was excited about the potential of making nerdy friends in person, rather than online for once. The community at Nerdstrong is unlike any I've encountered. You join the gym, and you instantly gain a huge group of friends. In my short time with Nerdstrong, I have already created lasting friendships that are full of love, encouragement, positivity, open-mindedness and importantly, shared nerdy interests! I am endlessly grateful for all of the new people and experiences in my life, and it's all thanks to a little gym with a huge, geeky heart.

I joined this gym during one of the hardest times in my life: I'm starting a business, struggling with family crisis and dealing with my own mental health challenges on a daily basis, but I feel like I can do anything with Nerdstrong in my life. I promise I'm not crying, but I wanted to be wholly honest in this review! I love you, Nerdstrong-- thanks for being there when I needed you most

I started at Nerdstrong in an attempt to counteract the fact that I work at a desk job and then come home and sit on the couch. I expected I would fall off after a few months, like I have with other attempts to workout. Well over a year later, I still go three days a week and actually find myself looking forward to class.

Nerdstrong is great in that it provides both structure and flexibility at the same time. While every class is led by coaches and has a set class plan, they provide modifications that make movements both harder and easier. Want to enter beast mode? Go heavier on the weights, or try this movement that requires more upper body strength. Have a knee injury? Here's another movement to do instead. They manage to balance a full range of skill sets in every class, and there is never any judgement about how you perform, from the coaches OR your classmates. Everyone is encouraging and excited to be there. Highly recommend!

Yes, Nerdstrong gym has nerd themed workouts and plenty of nerdy events like game night and movie night, but the reason to go to Nerdstrong is the community. The people there are so welcoming and non-judgemental. The coaches are fantastic and are really truly concerned and excited about you getting healthier and stronger. Don't think that because there is a nerd theme that the workouts are soft. They are tough workouts that will push you to your limits. The great thing is that the coaches will adjust workouts to your level and abilities.
