Land Surveyor

Below is the record of the event we have.

He asked for 4 payments to clear into his account before he even came to the site.

He was paid fully before coming to the site - and I felt pressurized to pay 3500 Rand (had to pay extra charges to the bank) to make the payment clear immediatley

When he came to the site he said he was going to have to come back again the next day and charged an extra 500 Rand had to pay direct into account before he would come back - this wasn't in the initial quote.

He came at 4-5 in the afternoon to do the work on Friday - to start the job when the builders came to do the work on Monday the job had not been completed correctly.

He came back on Tuesday and tried to explain the work he did and then left. But as builders were trying to complete the work they found the job he did isn't enough. When he was asked to come to complete the job and clarify with the builders what he had done he asked for an extra 1000 Rand to do this. Omar blames me for being an owner builder and using cheap unqualified builders to build our house .Which is not the case because our builders are registered with the NHBRC and all im doing is project managing. What a dissapointing expereince and waste of money.I now have to get another land surveyor to verify his work and find the missing beacon peg.

This is a complete distortion of the facts. I quoted R3500 to relocate and replace his corner beacons plus set out his house which was a complicated structure. He called me out and I found the site not ready . His bulldozer was not ready and still moving the earth. I asked him and his byuilder how can I work on the site when there were 2 problems. I could be knocked over by the bulldozer and his pegs would also be moved by the bulldozer which would mean extra costs for him for me to have to resurvey the site. His builder contacted me afterwards to tell me the site was ready, I asked him for proof. He sent me a whatsapp image showing a flattened site. When I went to the site the second time, the bulldozer was still busy. I told him if he wants me to survey, his site will have to be ready. He eventually phoned me to say his site is finally ready. I asked him for an immediate deposit of the contracted amount into my account. Then I will come. I went the third time and his site was ready. I placed his beacons and set out his house. After that, I got more problems with this client. He told me his builders couldn't find one peg. I went back and replaced this peg and showed the builder all his pegs. Then the client phoned me to say his builders are having problems with the levels. I phoned the builder and explained to him that he should check the levels from anther mark I gave. His builder came back and then said everything is ok. The client phoned me again to come to the site because they are having a problem with setting out his house which is a complicated structure. I told him he will have to pay R500 every time he calls me to the site when his builders are having a problem with his complicated house. I told him because he employed a cheap builder, his builder obviously lacks the skills to set out such a structure without the constant assistance of a surveyor. The client said he will complain to the South African Council of Geomaticians (SACG) if I did not come out. The SACG is the body with which professional land surveyors are registered. I refused due to the blackmail and his refusal to pay every time he calls me to the site. That is when he posted this comment on Bark. I immediately contacted Bark and told them his story is not true and he is blackmailing me. Bark said there was nothing they could do as this was a civil matter between 2 people. Up till now 7 months later, no complaint was submitted to the SACG showing his complaint was spurious and an attempt to black mail me. If there was a mistake with my pegs or levels, he should have long ago complained to the SAGC. This shows that he has realised by now that his cheap builder was at fault. He said in his comments he will get another surveyor. Surely, 7 months later, the new surveyor should have found the mistakes I made and with that evidence, he should have by now complained to the SAGC.

Land Surveyor

It is my pleasure and privilege to post this positive review of the work undertaken by Mr Naushad Omar at my home in Lakeside on Wednesday, 23/09/2020.

NAUSHAD OMAR, land surveyor, must be commended for his professional manner, and his excellent work ethic. With the minimum of disruption to my day, Naushad completed the job, and the Land Survey Certificate was emailed to me that evening. I highly recommend Naushad for his all round diligence and attention to detail.
