Nathan is one of the most creative people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. His photography is raw and beautiful, and captures the essence of the moment.

I recently got engaged in Asheville after a dream proposal from my long-time boyfriend.

First and foremost, Nathan over communicated with my fiance throughout the process to ensure that he was relaxed and focused on the proposal (not stressed about the pictures). He reached out at all different hours of the day and Nathan was always quick to respond. They even exchanged messages on the day of the proposal so that he was 100% sure that he was in place and ready for the big moment.

In terms of work quality, you couldn't ask for anybody better. Nathan does a great job of capturing both staged and candid shots to make sure your special moment is unforgettable.

Finally, I just wanted to touch on how friendly Nathan was the day of the proposal. Nathan of course did a great job of capturing the moment, but then also guided us around the hotel (Grove Park Inn) and took us to some awesome spots for some additional photos. He was so gracious with his time and made sure he did everything in his power to make the moment extra special for us!

I could not be more thankful to Nathan for helping to make our night so memorable. I would highly suggest him for any and every occasion!

I have had the pleasure of working with Nathan twice over the last couple of years. My husband and I hired him for our wedding, which was unique in and of itself in that it included a brunch, welcome dinner, two culturally unique ceremonies, reception, and many many friends and family members. Nathan and his assistant managed to capture every face that attended the wedding. Many photos gave us a perfect little glimpse into the moments we missed while being swept up in the day. They were edited beautifully and it was clear there was effort and intention put into the photos from start to finish. The second time I worked with Nathan was for portraits of my 16ish year old dog. She is very timid in new places and has bad eyesight. More importantly, she hates cameras and flashes. From the moment she arrived to Nathan's studio, she was calm and comfortable. She immediately acted just like her sweet funny self and Nathan made her feel safe with the camera. He also took my concerns into consideration and set up the studio in a way that did not require him to use flashes in order to capture the light for the photos. This made it easy for my dog to be at ease. Nathan even edited out a bright ball that had to be in each shot to keep my dog focused! What a trooper. Our family looks forward to working with Nathan again in the future! More...

Q&As

Talking a photograph that encapsulates the moment utilizing motion, color, expression, and interaction balanced with the training of what to include and what to leave out which makes an image pleasing to the eye is where the magic happens to create an emotional response from a photograph.

I am flexible, adaptive, and can work quickly and effectively under any circumstance no matter the budget or unforeseeable changing situations.

No matter the project, client, subject, or story we are conveying with your needs, I believe getting to know my subject and shining a light on their character and photographing it in a positive genuine way. From a simple corporate headshot, to the cover of an artistic musicians album cover.

I wish to know what is most important to my client. What brings them to me? What do they really wish to remember?

What is your vision and what can a professional create that you've always wanted but haven't been able to with a camera phone?

Who is your audience and what do you want them to know about you immediately? Photographs are the first thing they will see, and form much of what they think about you. Who are you, and who do you want to be perceived as?

Meeting new people and connecting with their passion is the best part of what I do. I am genuinely excited to learn about my subjects and provide them with the best possible results I am capable of.

I feed off the energy and have the capacity to remain focused and attentive for the entire event. I have a 100% glowing feedback rate by the end of the day, just for my disposition, personality. Finding the positioning ahead of the moment because of my experience, while minding my role and allowing the couple the space they need to focus on the important moments and experience each other and their family and guests. And still have honest beautiful photo story to look back to for the rest of their lives.

I love travel and am always looking for a reason to explore. Destination weddings, editorial assignments, marketing pushes, you name it. Based in Asheville, working here and beyond!

I have worked for four years full time with an agency in Asheville, and have been a visual storyteller around the world for 8 years, with companies, magazines, etc. Back home in Asheville with me big Media group I learned invaluable specifics of juggling multiple clients, managing expectations, professional development, the importance of asking the right questions, preproduction, and project management in a fast paced, client focused, heavily critiqued work flow and output.

I've collaborated with businesses that have been a pillar of the Asheville Community for decades, before I was born, as well as small businesses just starting out. I understand my talents, and learned how to implement them, be adaptable and prepared always to all lighting situations. Most of the time, in this industry you only get one chance at getting the perfect shot, which can apply pressure. After all these years, and coming prepared for anything, I no longer feel these pressures, yet the excitement and passion remains. That's how I knew this is is what I was meant to do!

Connect with me in an email, or call, and we can quickly decide if we are a good fit. If not I have an extensive professional list of photographers who I can quickly refer you to for any reason. ie. comparability or budget on either side.

For bigger projects/budgets I often bring them in with my jobs to have two photographers to double the outputs while maintaining the same time cost on your end!
