I can't believe we waited so long to go here! The ambiance is completely lovely, warm and inviting. The service was excellent, too. We were particularly impressed with the cocktails and wine list. And the food was phenomenal! They were able to make my dish mild for my wimpy palate, and they made my husband's more spicy for him. Everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. We were very, very happy diners and will definitely be back. More...

We went here for a friends night out and we had all been wanting to try this restaurant. The service was phenomenal and everyone was so welcoming. My friend dropped her napkin and before she could pick it up a clean one was brought to her. The owners are very present. We were encouraged to try the tapioca pearl cracker appetizer, and it was amazing! It was our favorite out of the three we tried. The cocktails were so delicious that we splurged for a second round. The Santa Spritzer was super refreshing and seasonally satisfying. I had the chicken coconut curry which was tasty and plentiful, although I am excited try the wedge salad next time. More...

This restaurant was a very short walk from my hotel, had good reviews, and i was looking for a relatively quick dinner and Thai sounded good. From the very beginning, the service was excellent. The servers and the hostess were all extremely polite and very helpful. For appetizers, I got their ginger popcorn chicken. Very flavorful but also very decadent (deep fried and sweet). For the main meal I got their coconut braised chicken curry, which was not quite one of the traditional Thai curries, but was good. I can't recall the cocktail I had but it was delicious. All in all a very nice place. Good food, great service, and nice ambience. More...

First time here and can't wait to return. The flavor combinations are amazing and each dish is a feast for every sense. The plates are beautifully presented and a delicious mix of textures and flavors. We enjoyed the crab bites and the wedge salad was overwhelmingly my favorite dish of the night. We didn't care for the smoked fish bites as much. The Arctic char was delicious as was the Amish chicken. The chicken could have used some type of accompaniment as it was rather boring compared to the other dishes. Service was excellent and Sam stopped by numerous times to check on us. This is not your typical Thai restaurant but so much more. More...

My best Thai food experience. I ordered the coconut prawn curry and it was delicately sweet and the fresh prawns really come thru. The rice was also a star itself. Perfectly steamed, not sticky, not dry, very aromatic. I've had a lot of rice in my life and it's def up there on the list. The portion wasn't too large, but just enough to leave you satisfied. My friend had the chicken noodle and said it was the best noodles he's ever had. Overall, all the food was very balanced, a key to proper Thai cuisine imo. Highly recommend for students as well--affordable price and also ask for a student discount! More...

This restaurant is so different from many Thai restaurants in US. No Tom Yum Soup, no Pad Thai. It provides different set of traditional home-style Thai cuisines with modern twist. We ordered Pan Seared Sea Scallop, Mina's Braised Short Ribs, and Jumbo Lump Blue Crabmeat. They were all very good. Furthermore, the service was really excellent. So was the ambiance. Truly enjoyed the experience. More...

An absolutely spectacular restaurant with unique and outstanding dishes matched only by the managenent's caring and personal investment in its patrons. I had the coconut curry braised chicken, boasting a combination of flavors that was a first for me. Everything about the dishes is interesting as well as flavorful. Lots of delicious surprises along the way ... small onions, slivered almonds, potato straws (I think ... not even sure). You just can't wait to see what's next on that fork. The dessert was equally interesting, and delicious. Banana bread with vanilla ice cream but with a brûléed banana and other fun stuff. What a treasure. Hands down the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to. Will definitely be back. (Pics don't do the dishes justice. We are outside, and it was dark out.) More...

A Thai restaurant without pad Thai? Oh my! NaKorn charts its own path on the Evanston restaurant scene, challenging diners to expand their definition of what Thai food is. Sam, a co-owner, is a pure delight. She greeted me, made sure all was well with my meal, and explained that she grew up in a Southern Thai town that didn't have a street light until she was ten. There was no grocery store, only a guy in a truck she waived down for food.NaKorn was birthed to bring Evanstonians a taste of what she ate growing up. While you won't find pad woon sen or lard nar, you will discover the pleasure of Kuhn Sompit's Big Fish, "branzino served crispy and whole with Belgian Endive and lime gastrique," and other delicacies. If you love the adventure of discovering new foods, eating in a beautiful space, and getting treated like you're a guest in their home, stroll down to NaKorn. You won't regret it. More...

Waited for second visit before reviewing. Personnel: exceptional from hostess, table bussing, waiter (very helpful) to the owner(s). Ambiance: only experience was outside however was told the interior is very impressive. Beverage: always good to have choice of Thai beer plus a choice of local micro brews served.Food: the sauces that accompanied Arctic char and coconut-curry chicken were superb requiring extra rice to insure "good to last drop".Desert: Mango, coconut sweet sticky rice deserves a "special mention" for presentation and combination of flavors. Chocolate mousse was a surprisingly large portion that was shared earning rave reviews. In summary NaKorn has joined my limited Evanston restaurants go to list. Nakorn is one of the best if not the best restaurant in Evanston. Everything is impressive. The ambiance and the artistic design are unique and welcoming. Since I visited few weeks ago I feel like going back all the time. I don't know how to startNakorn has the best raspberry hibiscus soda I have ever tasted. It is made in house and to perfection in terms of sweet/sour balance, taste and sense of freshness.I tasted the Arctic Char which I found very reach in taste and aromas. This is the best fish dish I had in Evanston for sure. I also strongly recommend the Cauliflower rice. My friend ordered it and I got to taste it and found it very delicious. I strongly recommend Coconut Curry Chicken. Exceptional aroma. I give Nakorn 10 out of 10 for food presentation and taste.Desserts: Nakorn offers exceptional deserts: Mango Sticky Rice was superb along with the chocolate mousse. The dessert menu offered nontraditional, very tasty with excellent presentation and freshness. The service is exceptional: hostess, waiter and table server are very warm and kind, professional and friendly. The owners come to table to friendly greet you, to tell you a story about the meals you have ordered and to thank you for visiting. I find that very rare and special in a culture where often in other restaurants the treatment is impersonal.  Both the ambiance and personnel give a feeling of warmth, true care, unique and world class meal and a very happy ambiance.I am glad that we have Nakorn and superb Thai cuisine  in our city and feel proud to be able to take friends there . We started with the Taro chicken and the Pandan Tapioca pearl crackers as our appetizers. I was very impressed by the great flavors and the way it was served.

We then had the Sea scallops and the Vegetarian scallops. I am not a vegetarian but I wanted to try them both. Both were great choices and were delicious.

We then ordered the braised pork shank and Khun Sompits big fish. Both items were excellent. We will definitely return when we are in town.

Topped the whole experience off with coconut creme pie parfait and the chocolate mouse.
