I wish that there were more than 5 stars to click on for a rating. Dr.Vanderlinde far exceeds 5 stars. I recently had a rather scary experience with my previous GYN. Long story short, she had told me that I had tested negative for HPV, but wanted to preform a colposcopy (which sounded horribly scary at the time) to rule out cancer. I hung up the phone that day only hearing one thing....cancer. Nothing had been explained to me. In tears I wrote Dr.Vanderlinde an email explaining my situation and asked her if she would be willing to see me. Shortly after I received a phone call from Dr.Vanderline's nurse who showed me kindness, sensitivity and calmly told me it would be Ok. She had spoke to Dr. Vanderlinde and got me in the next day for an appointment. At the appointment, Dr.Vanderline sat down with my husband and I, went over my abnormal test results and put both our hearts at ease with her words of wisdom and knowledge. She explained the procedure that would be best to do at the time, and made us feel completely comfortable in her hands. The procedure was a breeze, she even placed a heating pad over my abdomen to help with any discomfort. Dr.Vanderlinde walked us through step by step. She has a calming presence about her that I wish I could explain in words. When she knew I was worried, she looked at my eyes, laid a soothing hand on my knee and told me everything would be Ok, and I instantly felt at peace. My husband was so impressed by Dr.Vanderlinde that he was in tears that day leaving the office knowing I was in good hands. Today, one day after the procedure, I received the great news that just as Dr.Vanderlinde expected, I am perfectly healthy. I couldn't speak more highly of Dr.Vanderlinde. I understand that their office is now out of network with insurance (though they walk you through how to get reimbursed easily), I hope that it doesn't deter anyone from experiencing a true and genuine caring Doctor (hard to find). I can't say enough good things about Laura. For the first time ever, I have found a PCP who cares about me as a whole person, rather than seeing diagnoses. Terri was one of the first women I met when I moved to York, Maine in 2001. I was impressed. Being her patient has been a unique and special experience. It begins sitting on a comfy couch in her "office" wrapped in a big, soft (winter-warmed) robe. When she comes in, she sits across from you on one of those old-fashioned school chairs taking notes as she chats with you about life - your whole life - anything. You feel like you're having tea with a close friend. And reading her frequent newsletters that contain not only good health information but also sharing personal insight into her own life makes it feel like she is a friend. She has a wide depth of knowledge and has always been open to input from my naturopathic doctors, as well as my GPs over the years. The exam is done with great respect and gentleness. And after she gives you feedback she also gives you time to ask questions without that sense that she has one foot out the door. "My Friend . . ." is a good name for how she cares for her patients.
