I paid up front for classes that Jocelyn refused to offer, and I felt really cheated. Her contract stipulates that if you don't book an appointment within three months of payment that they expire without a refund. Our training sessions were halted by the literal pandemic, when our neighbors were dying and we had to stay inside and she made no exceptions. When I tried to work something out with her she would only accept more money. Such a callous lack of understanding and predatory commercialism makes me wonder sometimes if we really *are* all in this together. Stay away. More...

Hi Peter, I’m sorry you felt the need to slander me across all my public profiles. As I explained in our correspondence: my policy is that packages expire after 3 months. This policy was explained to you before you enrolled in training and in the contract you signed. This information was in no way hidden from you. For clarification, the rescheduling of your sessions was your choice as I was fully operational and available for both training and communication since the beginning of your package. While I sympathize with your situation, you failed to communicate your circumstances to me and instead reached out after a year and demanded a refund which I am unable to retroactively honor. Leaving bad reviews and sending threatening emails isn’t going to change that.

Jocelyn helped us so much to make walking our puppies pleasurable! She came to our house and offered humane training solutions to the issues we were having with our two Shepard mixes. I thought I could train my dog on my own, but her suggestions were SO much better than any of the videos I had been watching on YouTube or the advice I had gotten years about training my first dog. She gave us real life advice for managing our dogs problem behaviors of jumping, biting, and leash pulling and barking. She even sent follow up emails with written steps to help us remember what we learned in the sessions. We've improved our relationship with our dogs and we are all happier! More...

I feel so lucky to be able to have worked with such a great trainer! Jocelyn is compassionate and skilled at what she does. My dog has leash aggression and is unable to be around other dogs, and when the pandemic hit, Jocelyn offered online classes, which I signed up for as soon as I could! I took her Basic Manners class and it was so helpful. There were physical exercises for her, and also learning how to sit, lay, "watch me", and "leave it". (I have tried for years to get my dog to learn to lay and it wasn't until Jocelyn stepped in that we were able to master it!!!)I don't think Jocelyn is doing online classes anymore, but we have had some in person interactions since the class and she's just as attentive and intentional online as she is off! My dog loves her! I know if any new behavioural things come up with my rescue dog, or any future dogs, she's who I'll go to first! More...

Jocelyn was so helpful with an emergency training session with my new rescue dog, Luna. Luna's about 1 year old and has started jumping up and biting/thrashing her leash anytime we went on a walk. Jocelyn was able to schedule a session within 2 days where she came to our house, observed how we interacted with Luna on walks so she could look at the cause of the behavior, and then showed us some interventions to use and practice with. Not only was she incredible with Luna, but more importantly helped us to feel more confident leading Luna. In just that one lesson we have seen so much improvement in our walks and will definitely be keeping Jocelyn on speed dial for further training. Also, I had been trying to find the right harness and bought 3 different ones from Petco that were always super complicated, never fit right, and always had to be returned. Jocelyn came with the perfect harness and we were able to just purchase it directly from her instead of needing to hunt it down. More...

Jocelyn has been incredible with my puppy Keko (pitbull/boxer mix). Before doing at home private training with Jocelyn, We sent him to a board & training program for 3 weeks. It was SO expensive AND their training approach felt aggressive and fear based. My pup came back traumatized and had even more anxiety then when we dropped him off. He is the sweetest most tender tempered pup, but the moment we took him outside, he wouldn't stop huffing and barking. He was starting to act aggressive towards other dogs that would approach him and suffered from separation anxiety. I have been working with Jocelyn for a few months now, and I have to say, the progress she, I and Keko have made is so much more than I could have imagined! she was EXACTLY what I was looking for for Keko. A trainer using positive reinforcement, a trainer who doesn't blame the dog, but actually gets to KNOW and UNDERSTAND the dogs unique language and works from there. I have learned and am still learning so much from her. Keko didn't get magically better and more calm after one lesson, It DOES takes time and patience and consistency, but it is so worth it when you see your little fur babies progressing and becoming more confident in areas they were so insecure before. I Will be recommending her to anyone who is looking for puppy behavior training :) thank you Jocelyn!! More...

Dog Training

Working with Jocelyn! She’s good with my dog spotty and she’s got some great tips for me to work on with my dog. We’ve had 2 visits so far and it’s working out well.

I was so impressed with Jocelyn's dog training techniques and the way she handled my naughty frenchie. I had tried a dog trainer before who was very aggressive and wanted to use a prong collar or shock collar! I was so turned off and hesitant to try again, but so glad I did. Jocelyn uses positive reinforcement and was very responsive to all my questions when I would contact her after our meetings. I highly recommend her and beware of people on here who claim to be dog trainers but just use force and hurt our babies! More...

Jocelyn is an experienced dog trainer who uses ABA methods to change, modify, correct, and encourage behaviors. ABA is a humane and frankly the only way to change any animals behavior. Jocelyn knows what she is doing and knows how to execute this methodology. She approached my dog's aggressive behavior with kindness, compassion, and expertise. She was very professional and most of all, personable. I enjoyed our lessons with Jocelyn and always left feeling like a more confident dog owner. I noticed a change in my dog's behavior as well. My dog and I became a unit and started to move and work together. We learned how  to carry out alternative behaviors whenever a challenging behavior arose. Thank you Jocelyn for your time and sharing your knowledge. Pongo (my dog) says so too. Ruff!!! More...

She puts an incredible amount of thought into her modification plans, and she communicates training basics and behavior solutions clearly and simply. I would highly recommend Muttineer Dog Training to anyone who wants to unlock the potential in their dog. Happy training! More...

Q&As

Like so many of my competitors, my purpose is to help animals. But my skills and passion don't end there, I also love working with my human clients as well! I approach every new case by looking at the relationship between owner and pet as a team. How can each team work the best together in order to meet everyone's needs? This is a question that never gets old! I truly love my job and would love to help you, too!

After working all over the country in the animal rescue world for almost a decade I realized that something was missing from my career. The work I was doing was focused on behavior modification and rehab for behavior critical animals from criminal cruelty cases. Although I love working one on one with animals I began to miss working closely with clients. This is where my idea for Muttineer was born. I knew I could take my years of experience working with some of the most critical animals in the country and apply it to helping local clients with their pets.

I believe my education in Animal Behavior and over a decade of professional experience helps me stand out from the competition. During my work with the ASPCA I learned to work with many extreme cases and all different types of behaviors and breeds. This gave me knowledge and skills that most trainers never get. I'm confident that I can use my experience and knowledge to help you and your pet (without the use of force, intimidation or coercion) no matter what the issue. I've probably seen worse :)

Services

Our Separation Anxiety program is 100% virtual. This is not only convenient but is also the most effective way for treatment. Through remote tools like Zoom and webcams your trainer can view your dog during a live absence with no unusual tip-offs or environmental changes (like the trainer being present in-person).

Here's what’s included and what to expect:

1:1 work with a CSAT trainer and a totally customized training plan to suit your dog’s individual needs.
An Initial assessment to determine your dog’s unique threshold and tolerance for alone time. This is our baseline and where we begin training (it’s also OK if this is zero).

Detailed daily training missions 4x/week (16 per package). This takes the guesswork out of training and guides you and your dog towards success.

We meet weekly to reassess and measure progress (4 per package).

Data tracking to measure your dog’s progress and ensure they stay on track.

Coaching, support and cheerleading from your trainer. We are here with you through the challenges and milestones along the way!
