“Musica Nova” Russian-British Music Academy is the unique bilingual establishment in the UK that combines the best of British and Russian principles of teaching and offers music lessons and complex Certificate programmes for children (starting as early as 3,8 years old) and adults (up to advanced professional level), with six categories of classes geared to maximise the potential of the student in musical styles and genres as diverse as classics, jazz, pop, dance, and drama. The company was set up in 2000 and a year later the Academy was founded. "Musica Nova"Academy is based in London Borough of Camden, within walking distance from King’s Cross St. Pancras tube station (zone 1). Thanks to the Academy children, teenagers and adults from all ethnic backgrounds, including Russian-speaking community in London, are getting introduced to a beautiful world of music, develop and improve their talent, embark on professional music activity.
“Musica Nova” Russian-British Music Academy has established partnership links with artist management agencies, record companies and cultural institutions. Since March 2011 the “Musica Nova” has been holding a membership of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) one of the major umbrella organisations joining professional teachers and musicians of the UK. In 2012 the “Musica Nova” took part in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Music Education held at the Palace of Westminster. Recent documentaries about the Academy have been broadcast by BBC, major national and international Russian TV channels, “Russian Hour” programme on Digital Sky TV channel.
All teachers are professional musicians, with Conservatoire education, highly qualified, with a vast teaching experience and legal working status in the UK. All new teachers are carefully assessed and vetted in accordance with DFES regulations and employment legislation and the “Musica Nova” own quality control procedures.
Lessons take place in soundproof studios, equipped with pianos, elegantly designed to bring a sense of intimacy and discipline to the teaching. Both one-to-one and groups sessions, containing up to 8 students, are run at the Academy to fit in with students and parent’s busy lifestyles. If requested, lessons can also take place at client’s home (within London area) and on-line.
The programmes are specially designed to lead and direct students from very first steps in music to Certificate (Grades 1 – 8) and Degree programmes (Performing and Teaching Diplomas) with participation in concerts, recording projects, performances at the international festivals and competitions. The “Music Wonderland”, an innovative authoring programme, is offered to the younger students. The close collaboration with child psychologists helps in teaching music to children with dyslexia, speech and concentration problems.
In 2014 the “Musica Nova” has introduced new educational programmes. Free concert events and workshops popularizing good quality classical and contemporary music are opened for children and adults of Camden Community and Russian Community in London.
Every year over 200 students are successfully assessed and receive Diplomas from major national examination boards. Students continue further music education in colleges and conservatoires in the UK (Royal Academy of Music, Royal Music College, Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Cambridge and Oxford Universities) and Russia (State Conservatoire in Saint Petersburg, Gnessin Institution in Moscow).
Students and teachers of the “Musica Nova” Academy have successfully performed in front of the members of the Royal Family, members of Parliament, politicians and celebrities. Most recent concert engagements include:
• Performances at the international festivals: “Stars of the Albion” in London (2014), “GB Dance and Music” in London (2010-2014), “UK Russian Song Festival and Contest” (2005 and 2014), “The Starry Rainbow” in Bulgaria (2009-2013), “International Festival of Dance and Music” in Portofino, Italy (2013), “Maslenitsa Dance and Music Festival”, performances at the Trafalgar Square (2013), “Moscow Meets Friends” in Russia under the patronage of Maestro Vladimir Spivakov (2012 and 2006), “Rosa Vetrov” in Moscow (2012), “Starry Bridge” in Moscow (2007), “Russian Song” in Moscow (2005 and 2007).

Students of the “Musica Nova” Academy became winners and prize-winners at numerous national and international music and performing arts competitions held in Sweden, Bulgaria, Russia and Great Britain. Famous pop singer Alsou represented Russia and received the 2nd place at the Eurovision 2000 international song contest, young classical singer Daria Kirilishina performed alongside with Christina Aguilera and Holly Valance at corporate events in “Harrods” in London. Most recently in June 2013 six students from “Musica Nova” Academy represented Great Britain at the international performing arts festival-contest “The Starry Rainbow” in Bulgaria. All six of them became winners in various nominations and age categories (singing: classical/pop, instrumental: piano, violin, cello and string duo).
