My Story
Kaid qualified with distinction as a hypnotherapist in 1998. He later also became a certified EFT practitioner. Keen to learn more about life force energies he went on to expand his field of experience in healing therapies when in 2012 he qualified as a Reiki master teacher.
He has since provided training to many new students of the discipline.
In addition Kaid works as a bird whisperer at a golden award winning Bird Of Prey Centre using this technique developed in childhood to train and to rehabilitate birds of prey including owls.
Born and raised in the North of England until age 6, his mother British and his father Ethiopian/Arabic Kaid and his family returned to Ethiopia and Aden his fathers traditional indigenous homelands where his journey into holistic and alternative therapies began with his earliest formative experiences of childhood in those regions.
These experiences ignited within him his lifelong passion for healing, mysticism, enlightened learning and spiritual awakening.
Kaid recounts the many instances in which he would stand entranced as he watched Ethiopian magicians performing magical illusions which could not be explained by logic! These experiences induced within him a profound yet explicable awareness that life has multifaceted dimensions beyond the mere physical.
His paternal grandmother, a Tigrayan tribal woman and his grandfather an Arabic tribal elder, Kaid lived alongside the many other tribal peoples of East Africa and Aden. Some of his earliest memories were those of play hunting with the local Masai children. He recalls with great fondness and humour some of their childhood games, such as following the tracks of Anacondas in search of the majestic and formidable serpent, though they never caught one! To the animist/pagan ancient Abyssinian/Egyptians the snake formed a key role in their creation mythology/religion, known to them as Wadjet the goddess of Upper Egypt, and represented as a the cobra used as a protective emblem on the crown of the pharaoh's. The Maasai on the other hand, regard each species as the habitat of a particular family of the tribe.
With equal enthusiasm Kaid learned from the Maasai children how to hunt and capture wild birds with his bare hands; after attempting to catch one himself for over a year his hunting initiation was consolidated when at last he tamed a wild canary, an exhilarating experience which remained with him throughout life. He had learned that to do so one must patiently earn the trust of the animal.
Whilst living in Africa and Aden he and his siblings accompanied his father on regular trading excursions via camel, horseback and 4x4 Land Rover caravans throughout Ethiopia, Aden and Egypt, following the ancient Red Sea Silk Road route. Travelling across the Sahara they enjoyed the hospitality of nomadic Bedouin’s where they would spend the night and share food and wonderful stories of the ancient elders.
On one such journey he recalls that his fathers land rover was forced to halt on a high mountain pass in the highlands of Ethiopia as a silverback gorilla crossed their path, it’s silent majesty inducing in him a profound sense of awe. This memory serves as an indelible reminder of the gentle yet all powerful force of nature to be admired and respected in equal measure.
When visiting his uncles apothecary in Egypt he observed with curiosity and wonder the many large glass jars containing such things as beetles and other insects, roots, bark, powders, minerals and gemstones which filled the shelves of his shop. These were used as crucial ingredients in traditional medicinal compounds. On such family visits he was instructed by his uncle to search for blue stones near the pyramids for use in his apothecary. Unaware at such a young age that these were turquoise and lapis lazuli, lapis being used by the ancient Egyptians as a cure for tumours and other common ailments.
Kaid recalls the feeling of wonder that he felt whenever he was near to the ancient pyramids, though he was too young to understand their significance at this time, he felt their presence.
Following the Ethiopian military coup de tat of 1973, kaid aged 11, and his family, loyal to HIM Emperor Haile Selassie, were forced to flee the country of his fathers birth, briefly seeking sanctuary in Egypt before returning to England.
He maintained his connection to the natural world in caring for horses, birds and other animals in later childhood in the UK. As he grew older he could not forget these deeply immersive and profoundly impacting early experiences in Africa and the Middle East and began to develop his interest in healing therapies which held some kind of resonance with them which led him to practice the hypnotherapy, EFT and reiki which he is known for today.
