I had an overwhelming, depressing, anxiety-producing amount of junk, papers, garbage and general chaos accumulated in my apartment. I didn’t feel comfortable in my own home. As well, my apartment is subsidized, which means frequent visits from maintenance and inspections. It also means the possibility of losing my housing if it’s not compliant. Kristina helped me get things cleaned and ordered. She was cheerful, encouraging, and completely judgement-free. I was even laughing during part of it! That’s worth every penny. We've had many challenging and stressful life changes take place over a long period of time which is an understatement After both my spouse and I lost our jobs we decided to start our own business. .. However, looking at how much work it is going to take us to get organized, we knew we needed MAJOR help Moxie's to the rescue!! Kate and her assistant, Christina are amazing, focused, not afraid to get dirty and know what to do to get the project done!! It was such a relief to see the finished project!! I had a vision of what I needed and I knew how I would feel afterwards... I had some tears today when it was complete! I still have more work to do so I'm having her come back in a couple weeks! Even though it only took a handful of hours' work, my apartment looks twice the size it did at the beginning of the week, and it feels more like my own space than it has since I first moved in. The amount of stuff and papers in my home was overwhelming. I wanted it in order before Graduation of our eldest. I did some purging on my own but you know the flow of stuff coming into our homes doesn’t really stop. And with work and driving kids to and fro, I knew I needed extra help. I met with the team at Moxie for an assessment and had Chelsea help me clean out our storage room. I felt supported and encouraged. Best feeling ever! What do you love most about your job?
Susie and Kate love results! The positive changes and feedback after all jobs is rewarding and affirming that we are where we need to be! Working in personal spaces is a very intimate process. Our Team is grateful that clients are able to trust us to tackle life's toughest tasks!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Susie and Kate were both working in the Social Work field helping others manage mental health systems. Susie was a Program Administrator as well as front line Social Worker for many years. She loved organization challenges and felt it a natural transition to switch to the Organization & Coaching Fields.
Kate formerly worked as a social worker in Foster Care, Hospice, and in the schools. Kate loved helping others but also knew that these areas of work were not her calling - she had a drive to make a major impact. She met Susie at a conference while working in Hospice and saved her info for years before reaching out to say she wanted to become a part of the organizing world.
Susie mentored Kate for 1 year and helped her launch her business, Clean Slate by Kate, LLC in 2016. Both Susie and Kate were in high demand and they soon realized that in order to meet the need, they had to join forces and build a team. They now have a Team of 8+ Workers that provide Organizing, Cleaning, and Design Work. It's never too late to find YOUR MOXIE!

Susie and Kate are NAPO members and Board Members of NAPO Michigan. Both are Institute for Challenging Disorganization subscribers as well as Caregiver Resource Netwoek members.
