Great place, very clean, nice patio space should you want to eat outside, lots of inside space as well. If you're looking for some loving when they cook your meal, this is the place. Its not to big and not to small. This establishment is not a franchise, or at least does not feel like so, it doesn't have that cookie cutter feel franchise usually has. It seems they do things their way. All the people that tended to our needs were extremely friendly. Then their is the food, which does not disappoint. I went out with some family and friends and they did nothing but compliment the food and service. Great first impression, will return here. More...
Oh my gosh I don't know how I didn't discover this place before. Its actually across the street from the vet's office that my precious pup goes too. Tuesday's special was fried chicken on the day I was there, and I am sort of fried chicken snob. This place didn't let me down the pieces were generous, chicken wasn't dry. The breading could have used a tad bit more pepper for my liking but was super good. Also the sides were delish!!! The baked beans might have been the best I've had, just a great flavor, and also the mac-n-cheese with the baked topping with breadcrumbs....yum!!! There's seating at the bar, and also plenty of tables to sit at. I will most certainly be back here! More...

Can't tell you how much I loved their food. I ordered ham and the glaze and ham together was the best I have ever had!! Ribs were awesome!! Cole slaw as good as mine!! We will go back before I go home!! More...
Delicious barbecue, huge portions, yummy collard greens, nice selection of draft beer, very friendly staff and an open kitchen so you can see where they make the magic happen.
Outstanding barbecue and a cool vibe inside. My favorite barbecue in NoVa. We got the platter with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. I was blown away by everything but the brisket. So next time it'll be a double portion of ribs! More...
Excellent and clean. Good service.
I so love this place. The burnt ends are so good. I like the cornbread however it is served at room temperature. If it was served hot out of the oven, trust me, yousr tastebuds would rejoice. The collard greens are surprisingly good. If you have heard the term pot liquor then you know about flavor. I am anxious to try the fried green tomatoes. The owner is cool too. More...
Picked up take-out for dinner. The food was a mixed bag...a solid 3-stars. But, we bumped the overall score up to 4 stars because the staff were very attentive and helpful. When we arrived, the place was crowded. A large raucous group was enjoying happy hour around the bar, and a big crowd of families were enjoying dinner in the dining area.We were quickly greeted by two young staff members at the reception desk; both were cordial and attentive. As we worked through our order, they were knowledgeable about the menu and patient with our questions. They were also quick to seek help when they couldn't answer a question on their own. While we waited for our order, we grabbed a beer at the bar. Despite the crowd, the bartender wasted no time acknowledging us and working our order in with the others she was making. Once we had our drinks, we scooted away from the crowd to a stand-up table at the side of the room...and enjoyed a few minutes of people watching. After a surprisingly short time, our order came out and we were headed home.As we settled into our meals, we found the food to be a mix of solid, average, and disappointing. We ordered the Pitmaster Sampler, an additional 1/2 lb of pork, fries, onion rings, bbq beans, and mac and cheese. We also brought home three different bbq sauces...mild, spicy, and sweet. The Pitmaster was a nice selection of most of the meat options available on the menu...a great way to get a really good sense of the place's bbq. It included ribs, brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and sausage. That said, the ribs were well smoked and nicely seasoned. They could have been a bit more tender, but on the whole, were a solid choice. The sausage had a nice flavor and texture, but we had trouble finding any smoke in the flavor at all, which made it seem like it could have just as easily been cooked over a generic grill. Again though, the sausage had a nice flavor and texture. The pulled pork and chicken were just ok. The chicken had a hint of smoke, but it was hard to find any in the pork. And, on the whole, neither meat felt like anything special. The burnt ends and brisket were the low point in the meal. The brisket had only a mild smokiness, was dry, and a bit tough...just not very good bbq'd brisket. The burnt ends... were poorly named. The portion we were served was moderately flavorful, but seemed more like 1 inch cubes of cooked stew meat rather than dark crusty burnt tips/ends of brisket that spent hours over smoke. For the sides...the beans had a nice flavor, the mac and cheese was decent, and the fries and onion rings were both great. Rounding out the meal, we enjoyed all three bbq sauces. On the whole, it was definitely a positive experience. While we didn't love all the food, there was enough we liked to bring us back. And, with good service, we can overlook average food. More...
The food was absolutely amazing.Food was excellent. The staff is great. Sincerely recommended!
Best burgers in the area. Great staff, good location, and a place with a lot of style, but especially.... GREAT FOOD!!! I swear every type of meat is really good, and they have a large menu. Also desserts are delicious. There are the right prices.Like many people, I’m a usual client of this bbq, and I go there often. The only thing they should improve is creating bunus meals after adding point each time you go there. As a good marketing technique, people would love to go to Mookie’s to eat great food and get some “client’s points”.~Alex More...
Very friendly, very fresh food!
Wonderful servers and good food ! Loved here
Excellent food and service Recommended 100 percent
Our gold standard for fantastic brisket, terrific ribs, and tremendous sides like the mac & cheese! Not just the best in the DC area, but anywhere!!

Fantastic little hidden away BBQ in Great Falls, in Colvin's Run. Everything is delicious. If you love brisket, Mookies BBQ brisket is award winning!!! Literally!!! YUMMO!!
The food was absolutely amazing. The ribs were juicy and tender, the fries were crunchy, and the BBQ beans were wonderful.
Great BBQ food at a very nice area. Comfortable, not extremely busy, good times with good friends! Will definitely go back more than once!
Wonderful! Good w/kids too.
Love this place. Never too crowded and the food is awesome. Get the gigantic platter or make one up to your taste!

Excellent consistent bbq flavor. Ribs are tender and juicy. Brisket rich and flavorful. Their burnt ends are just so divine, they run out on weekends. Call ahead to make sure they still have some! More...
I love this barbecue joint!! It's worth every penny & they have a great selection of different barbecue sauce styles. Clean. Neat. Great service. Affordable.
What a wonderful place! The server Alex was excellent— service was friendly and prompt! Enjoyed the barbecue and the homemade peach Melba dessert!

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with delectable barbecue. Casual bar with sports playing on TV, comfortable dining room seating and nice outdoor dining (check in inside with the hosts first, so that they know you are outside). Go!
Mookie's has pretty good bbq. I'm just really happy that there's finally a bbq joint conveniently located in Great Falls.
Great customer service with real friendly servers!
The best bbq in town
Es un lugar donde puede ir con la familia a comer
Came in for one of the family pack take out options. So much delicious food! Pulled pork was my favorite when paired with the homemade spicy sauce (vinegar sauce was good as well). Staff was super friendly and food was ready right when they said so. Collard greens weren't my favorite, but the coleslaw and potato salad hit the spot. More...
An amazing bit of bbq in Virginia. The staff is warm and welcoming. The brisket is firm but tender. The pulled pork carries its smokey flavor. The ribs have the right amount of char kissing their edges. The sausage has a wonderful taste. And the burnt ends practically melt in your mouth. The cherry pie for dessert (seasonal, so you might get something else) was very full of berries and tender crust. The cookie my daughter had was drizzled in chocolate and topped with ice cream. All in all one of the best bbq meals to be had locally. More...
Brisket quesadilla was a recommendation from our server and it was right on
We split the Pitmaster sampler between two people and had leftovers. Great selection and portion sizes. Awesome customer service.
The food was tops! MookieBurger is a definite comeback item. Mac n cheese straight from home was spot-on. More fries please!!! See you again soon.
Good flavor for ribs..a little bit dry. Enjoyed the burnt ends
Some of the best barbecue we've had in the DMV. Nice, clean restaurant with bbq classics as well as some creative twists (bbq nachos, salad topped with pulled pork and brister, etc). Prices are a little high--about what you'd expect for this area--but the service, food, and atmosphere are great! We recommend the Pittmaster Salad! More...
Highly recommend.Large portions.Decent prices. The best BBQ restaurant I've had in the area. We had the small BBQ nachos, which could easily fill you up, and the mac n cheese balls for apps. Portions are gigantic. I lived in Memphis, TN and think it's as good as Memphis BBQ. More...
Absolutely love Mookie's food and service. The sides are so fresh and tasty. But the portion for the sides is a little bit small. I wish we could order an extra Large side of something (I'd happily pay extra to have extra). But that's the only thing I would change. The bbq meat portions are good, the ribs are tender, and both are fairly generous portions. I love the way Mookie's is involved in the community and also love their catering service. More...
Came to this place after doing some hiking at Great Falls. The patio outside allows dogs which was great because we had our pup with us! Food was pretty good - ribs and Mac and cheese were worth the trip! Cornbread was also solid. Service was a little slow but everyone was super friendly. More...

Best best best. The sauces where sweet and savory. The meats where moist and tender. The beer was cold and the service was excellent and fast. This is amazing Barbecue.
Arrived at Mookies on a Sunday around 1pm. The brunch menu looked great however I opted for ribs, collards, and baked mac & cheese. Needless to say it did not disappoint. The collards were perfect and complemented the cornbread nicely. The ribs really didn't need sauce as they were flavored exceptionally well. This was my fisrt trip here but will not be my last. In the heart of Great Falls, this BBQ places offers fast and friendly service. Mookie's sauce is pretty good and the place is very clean with plenty of seating. Offers outdoor seating and has a great staff. Locally owned and operated. Definitely recommend. Decent portions and low prices for meals. Small bar with beers on tap and and drink specials. This little out of the way place is a treasure! You would think you're stepping back in time into your uncle Reggie's back yard in 1986 when they bring out the brisket or the loaded fries you ordered. Come hungry; the portions are generous. Great service, great BBQ, right here in VA. More...

Best BBQ in Northern Virginia
Good food and service
Burnt ends are always a go to item!
Love this place. BBQ is great and nothing is super greasy. Collard greens are so good. Brisket, pulled pork and sausage is fantastic. Wings are the best. We've ordered them for two parties so far and everyone loves them. The only con is their salads could be a little better. Just iceberg lettuce and a basic salad with BBQ on top. Could add some leaf lettuce, goat cheese and nuts to take it up a notch. More...
Everything we ordered was delicious! We haven't found a bbq that we liked until now - other places are always missing something whether it be good meats but meh bbq sauce or great bbq sauce but meh sides. But this place... has it all!!! We came hungry and thirsty after some outdoor activities. Ordered Mac & cheese balls, loaded chili, kids pork slider, pulled pork platter & smoked sausage platter. The Mac & cheese balls were to die for! The chili was hearty and flavorful - we opted for loaded and did not regret it (cheese, sour cream, avocado). The bbq meats did not disappoint & the bbq sauces were also purely divine. We were very pleasantly surprised that this place had it all. And to top it off, GREAT SERVICE as well. Our server's name was Matt & he was on top of always refilling our drinks + anything else we needed. Highly recommend!!! More...

Great low-key barbecue place.
Really tasty food, very friendly service...what else can I say? I'll definitely go here again!
We were staying in town for the weekend so we decided to try this place out for dinner. Everything was great from service to the food! We got the fries with cheese and pulled pork for appetizer. I ordered the pulled pork platter that came with green beans and Mac and cheese. My husband got a burger with bacon & fries. The sweet bbq sauce was our favorite out of the bunch. I highly recommend this local restaurant! Great prices and generous portions. More...
We were only in the area for the day and asked around for the best local BBQ.. sure enough Mookie's did not disappoint ! Fantastic quality & amazing quantities for what you pay. the MW Burger is what I got.. 2 SLABS of bacon that I had the cut with a knife to eat... also LOADED FRIES. . . simply amazing ! For sure coming back next time I'm in town More...
Upon walking in the door I was skeptical that this establishment could live up to the precedence of the Serbian Crown, the previous restaurant in the building. I was convinced as soon as the good came out. The brisket was possibly the best I've ever had. It was tender and had a smokey flavor that took my breath away. The BBQ chicken salad was also astoundingly good. The pulled chicken paired perfectly with the corn, salsa and tomato in the salad - giving it a South Western vibe. The service was fast and friendly. I plan on returning to this place very soon! More...

the food is amazing!!! totally recommend going there!!
Best BBQ around! I never stray far from my favorite burnt ends and Mac and cheese. The soup specials and chili are also delicious to warm your tummy on a cold day.
Excellent food in a quaint out of the way venue!
First time an very very food ,we will be back
First time visiting. The ribs were the best I've ever had. The sides were delicious as well. Great dessert too! Order the blueberry pie!

Best BBQ! Go here all the time! 100% recommend
Generous portions. Great service. The chili wasflavorful and mild enough for kids. (The bowl is huge.). We also had the small fry appetizer with pulled pork, burnt ends and house-made cheese sauce as an entree It was flavorful and enough for a meal. I'd call it a southern poutine. It was a good way to try a couple of bbq meats for a reasonable price. We like that they said they don't use nitrates in their bbq, seasoning and sauces. We will be back. More...
Best lean cut brisket I've ever had. Very friendly servers with a great sense of humor
Good but not the best.
The fresh cut fries and homemade onion rings are amazing
We used Mookie's for take out. We had family visiting from out of town and ordered their large family to go meals (meal #4) plus dessert (chocolate chip cookie, key lime pie, and chocolate pecan pie). All of the food was packaged with care, including putting all the containers in a reusable tote. Salad was fresh, meat cooked very well, sides fresh and plentiful. We had a bunch of sauces and enjoyed dipping all of them to try out. All in all, excellent customer service and excellent food! More...
What a nice place! I have been going to Mookies since they opened. I have NEVER had a meal or received service less than outstanding. Servers know your name and treat you so nicely. It's the best BBQ ever. This place is very clean situated near a small stream. Huge windows in the bar it's not dark and dank like the Brogue. Service is always first class, portions fair, just a lovely place! More...
This is 100% legit BBQ! I sat at the bar and ordered the Pitmaster Salad and Onion Rings. Service was fast and friendly and along with the local "regulars", made this traveler feel very welcome. The rings are every bit as good as the reviews say they are and the Q was spot on! Pitmaster salad was ample and served in a LARGE bowl. Menu said a mix of iceberg and romaine but I would question if there was truly any romaine in the bowl. Burnt ends were OUTSTANDING and the pulled pork held its own against any I've ever had...or made. (Was on a competition bbq team in a previous life and am a bbq snob) portions were absolutely reasonable but I wouldn't say that the meat or fries were "piled" as the menu description suggested. Perhaps i just didn't want the goodness to end. The corn bread accompaniment was moist and slightly sweet making it a perfect 10! These fine hardworking folks have certainly earned my respect. Don't deny yourself the pleasure of a visit...or two. More...
Mookie's never disappoints! Today we went by at mid afternoon and there were only a handful of people eating. I got the half chicken and added on the burnt ends. Mix the sweet and spicy sauce together and you have a heavenly synergy of complex flavors and meat! We highly recommend this place to all our friends and we come here often! More...
We've been to Mookie's a few times & been happy every single time, good food & service! My kids said that Mookie's is their favorite bbq's restaurant & they are a bunch of picky eaters.
Friendly, helpful, and serving sizes have plenty to share. But get there before 5pm, it's a popular place.
Great food and beers
Really great food and the staff is wonderful and very attentive.
Great food. Friendly bartender.
Great food, generous portions, friendly staff. I would recommend Mookie’s to anyone! Well done.
Such a great place!!! Delicious food, great wait staff and awesome owners!!! This is our "go to" place!
Great BBQ in the ritzy town in Great Falls VA. Nothing like Texas BBQ but it gets the BBQ fix in easily.
Tried lunch here one day with 20 other people. The service was great considering one waitress handled the whole crowd. Food was very good for a bbq place. Better than Mission Bbq in Sterling in my opinion. Potato salad was so fresh you could tell it was just made that day. Fall of the bone ribs with lots of sauces to choose from, LIKE! More...
Great place! The Macaroni and cheese is the best part of my meal. I would recommend it!
Best bbq spot for miles around. Burnt ends are awesome. The chicken and ribs are good too. Not crazy about their sauces though the food doesn't need the sauce to taste good.
Food was excellent. Loaded fries had a perfect balance of meat and fry. Brunch was excellent and the pulled pork was stellar. Service was prompt and polite. If you’re looking for some solid BBQ look no further. More...

Got the family feast - it is a LOT of food. Pulled pork is excellent. And that hot BBQ sauce is to die for - quite spicy too!
Delicious barbecue and great service! Will definitely be back
Can’t wait to go back again.
Fun dog-friendly outdoor space and AMAZING food. I was surprised to find such a great BBQ place in Nova. Would recommend all of the sides, especially the Mac & cheese, as well as the dark meat.
Really enjoy the food! Always walk away full and satisfied from a tasty meal! Owners are “good people” and it is reflected in the friendliness, courtesy and efficiency of the staff!
The service was good water & drink could have been kept a little be better but overall service was good. Food was great would suggest the potato salad to everyone.
Delicious barbecue and yummy sauces! Salad greens were a little tired, fresher greens would have given it five stars. Service was excellent, friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go back.
Yum, need I say more? Just the perfect place to go for anything BBQ with all the trimmings, except the trimmings have just a little more pizzazz, a little more interest than your regular coleslaw and potato salad. Even the kids like Mookies.
Mookies is great! Friendly staff & atmosphere. Excellent food... go hungry, very generous portions!
Love the people there! Always great service and good food!
Well cooked barbeque with good service.
Everyone in my office was talking about Mookie's so we had no choice but to go for lunch when I worked at my last job. I love how hidden the place was. And the food was delicious! I ordered my favorite BBQ item--brisket, which came with cornbread and two sides. I chose the potato salad and mac & cheese, which went perfectly with the brisket. The food was amazing, however, we were seated in front of the kitchen window. Our view wasn't as pleasant, as we saw someone preparing a meal item with their hands. Other than that, the food was great and had a good first visit. More...
I love the smoked wings and the Alabama white sauce.
Love that this place is in our small town. Definitely the best meal you can get in Great Falls. Great bbq, solid service and good rotating selection of IPAs. Wings and the plain old cheese burger are the hidden gems on the menu, if you're not feeling the normal bbq stuff. Even the desserts are stellar!Complaints? While the brisket is amazing, the pulled pork is only slightly above average. Also I wish they served beef ribs more often! More...

Brisket is good everything else including sides were just okay. Generous portions
The waiters were nice, and the onion rings were the most enjoyed. The large nachos were around 14 dollars and were huge! Its very convenient when I'm in a hurry. Nice food, and the place is like the center of great food in the area. The only thing I didn't like was the pork because it was a little flavorless but the provided BBQ sauce helped. Thanks for the nice meal I had! More...
Sandwich was great, onion rings poor, thin and over cooked

Great BBQ and Customer Service
The pulled pork was decent but nothing to write home about. Great BBQ sauces, though. Overall, the meal was pretty good. Our server was nice. I wasn't blown away by the food or the atmosphere, but I had no complaints. I'd give it a 3.75 out of 5. More...
Second visit here and both have exceeded expectations. My go-to BBQ spot is in DC, I won't say it's name in this review, but it rhymes with Shill Shmontry. Mookie's is a more laid back spot, great for date night, and the food is as good as you will find in the Greater Washington Area. It has that home-cooked TLC quality about it. Staff are genuinely pleasant and warm. Andrew is really knowledgeable about the menu, top-notch server. Worth the visit. P.S. Full bar and HH specials. More...

Easy parking, spacious dining room, and GREAT BBQ!
I had never heard of this place but it came recommended by people at Riverbend Park, where we were hosted our son's third birthday. We didn't order too much since it was mostly kids but we ended up getting pulled pork, cinnamon apples, and potato salad. Separately we provided our own slider rolls and my wife made her macaroni salad. The guy showed up on time, if not early, to set everything up and was well-prepared with not only the trays, stands, Sternos, and water, but also plates, utensils, and napkins. They also brought three sauces: sweet, spicy, and Mook's. The pork was delicious and I enjoyed every sauce--the best combo was then adding the apples on top of the residual BBQ sauce. The apples themselves were tasty, not too heavy on the cinnamon, but a little too cooked down (compared to what I was expecting). The potato salad was very good, seasoned well; the only complaint from my wife was that the onions were chopped a bit on the larger side instead of being more diced/minced. Ordering everything was easy--the staff we spoke with were all attentive and very personable. I'd gladly have them cater again and perhaps try the mac and cheese next time or even better, pop in and actually sit down to eat. More...
i was surprised when I walked in because this place had sit down service and was really clean. It was so clean, it looked new. BBQ places I am used to going to have us ordering at the counter and then sitting at a table and waiting for it. The BBQ food came out with a nice presentation as well. The brisket was amazing, very tender and moist. We tried a lot of food, but my husband and I liked the brisket best, then the ribs, and then the cornbread. The collard greens were cooked to perfect doneness, but lacked smoky flavor. Cole slaw also lacked a little zip. Adding salt didn't help. Overall, a really nice place to eat. I also liked that we could see into the kitchen! More...

Love mookies. Really good food
All the food was incredible, the service was great, and the prices were very reasonable.
The MV Burger is very delicious and a good size of a serving. Very neat tables and chairs. One person is always walking around holding a spray bottle and a table cloth looking for a table to clean.
So good! Loaded fries were incredible. We got the sampler to try a bit of everything and none of it disappointed. It was all great, but burnt ends were the highlight. Smooth liquidy fat and just the right amount of crisp; tasting of beautiful bbq with no burnt flavor. All staff was friendly, and efficient. We'll be back! More...

The burnt tips were good, except that the pieces were too big for a sandwich and they weren't real burnt tips - they were just chunks of brisket. The Original sauce was really good. Overall, I was happy with the BBQ, but the coleslaw was old and did not match the quality of the BBQ. More...

Best BBQ I've had outside of southern VA- satisfactorily generous portion size; not a heaping sandwich but definitely filling and not stingy. The sides are good too, don't taste like they're from Giant. For my birthday in 2017 I had BBQ in Minneapolis that was terrible so I swore having anything but southern BBQ off until I ate here about a month ago. Great positive atmosphere, the climate control was a little spotty depending where you sit but everything else made up for it. Great place to make your BBQ dreams come true or get a buzz going. I am sorry I waited so long to go. I had the pulled chicken sandwich which was excellent. A family member had one of the specials, a steak & cheese sandwich, which looked so good. It was my birthday lunch, so I enjoyed it all the more. Thank you, Mookies!! More...
Solid BBQ place for this area. I am a repeat customer.
Best burnt ends that I every had. Mac & Cheese is excellent service is always good.
An eight-inch sub sandwich with a side costs over $12. I know this isn't exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, but think that a buffet, all you care to eat, in Manassas, can cost so little as $7.30 for an oldster at the right time. The atmosphere is fairly appealing, and the service wholly friendly.Beer is available, including a local brew from Lorton and including Corona. Very good bbq, great for families with kids too. We'll definitely return
Great portion sizes and nice atmosphere. Service is attentive and pleasant. A go to spot for great BBQ.

Wow. Best BBQ restaurant in VA. Classic American food, with some modern touches. Clean facility. Friendly waiters. Fresh food. Open, clean kitchen. Will definitely recommend to friends and will be returning with family. More...
Great place. I had the brisket platter my first visit and then had the same thing every other time. Too good to try anything else.
Great Service and scrumptious Food!!!!
Great food, friendly staff, I really enjoy eating here
Amazing bbq. The bbq platter is a must and is great to share for 2-3 people.
Good BBQ for a decent price.
Great place to get BBQ with good staff. Basic setting.
Great BBQ Restaurant! Delicious Burger and Platters
Good rib. I love the carrot soup
Always a great place to go!! BBQ is amazing and they have a great Happy Hour!
Great food even if it's not TX BBQ! LOL
Absolutely amazing!!! We have been going there the past two years when we travel from Buffalo, N.Y. to visit family. The first year we had about twelve people. Last year there were eighteen and they were very nice and accommodating to let us make reservations. The food is fantastic. The service is outstanding!!!! DON'T FORGET THE COOKIE ANF ICE CREAM AFTER DINNER !!! More...
Absolutely one of the best ribs I have ever had
The best barbecue and sides in the NoVa!!!
Second time at Mook's and throughly enjoyed the meal. Cooked just the way I ordered. Clean and welcoming. Will eat at Mook's everytime I'm in the area.
Awesome BBQ from a family owned business.
Always love mookies bbq brisket, best in northern Virginia. The bbq nachos are really tasty too. Make sure to save room for the banana pudding!
Attentive wait staff. We had a hiccup with our order. Chef/ Owner came to fix the problem. Very apologetic. Great food. Great service! Can't wait to go back!
Service was great food was even better
You need to check this place out. Casual and simple. Super fast service and food is good. Fries on my salad (a first and yummy). Great portions. Variety of sauces. Outside needs music More...
This is great BBQ at a reasonable price. We really liked the pulled pork, baked beans and the macaroni and cheese. Andrew was our awesome waiter. He is the best. I'm only in town for 6 weeks but I intend to visit here often. More...
Excellent bbq, best in the area. Sides are generous and very tasty. More than enough for two meals. Try the ribs, brisket, and burnt ends.
Mookie's serves excellent BBQ!! We went there after a long hike at Great Falls and boy did this hit the spot! Portions are very large! I got the slider sampler as a meal and my fiance got the rib dinner. Every side, bread, and meat were cooked to perfection. We had our dog with us and they even catered to her. Brought her a bowl of ice water and scraps of meat (they asked if she could have them of course). Will be coming back any time we are out this way! Subhash our server was excellent and very attentive. Could not thank him enough! More...
A must try BBQ place. We've been looking for good BBQ around here for a while. We tried a bunch of different options here, and all of them were amazing. As should be with an BBQ place, they don't skimp on the food. There's a rotating selection of beer, giving you new options every time you go. The pulled chicken is the best option, paired with the Mac n cheese, its over. More...
This place is mouth-wateringly delicious. The burnt ends.... I am not a huge BBQ fan, but this place has converted me. If you go here, you could be happy feasting just on the burnt ends, but we ended up getting We got the pitmaster sampler, AMAZING brisket nachos, and sides of baked beans and mac n cheese.
I ordered the Mac and cheese and chili it was so so So good, wish my cornbread had a little more butter and sugar because it fell apart but it was all very yummy and I have recommend it to anyone asking where to eat in this area
Great food, good prices, and great service. Our waitress, Olivia, was very helpful and knowledgable about the menu. We had Nachos, loaded fries, rack of ribs, and prime rib sub. Everything delicious. They know their meat!. I definitely recommend and will return. More...
We really enjoyed our late lunch. The restaurant was clean and our service was friendly. The decor was casual and to be expected for a local BBQ establishment. I had the 1/4 chicken (white meat) with the macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. The chicken was tasty and had good flavor. The mac and cheese was baked style and very good. The coleslaw was decent. We will be back when in the area. More...
This is my third time here. I dig the ribs and the sides I have chosen thus far have been great. I got the loaded chili and onion rings. Ribs this time were a tad dry, but still very good. I like the fact that they don't drown their BBQ in sauce. Both the spicy and mustard are equally good. I got an Old Fashioned made with Woodford and it was perfect! Service was great! I'm sure I'll be back at least one more time this week. More...
Great bbq in great falls off of rt7. Has nice bar to grab few drinks and watch sports.
A really welcoming and wonderful local place with AWESOME barbecue! One time they had a beef ribs special and those were the best, juiciest, meatiest beef ribs I ever had. Love all the sides too, especially the beans and the coleslaw! Go there to be well taken care of and enjoy fresh, delicious food, and don't forget a cold one! They have a weekly rotating craft IPA as well as a selection of other beers. More...
This is probably my favorite barbecue place in the world but unfortunately I live in Florida. Haven't had a piece of brisket like this in such a long time it was a pleasure to enjoy a piece of burned brisket end, i'm at in such a long time. And the macaroni was to die for...
I love BBQ. A lot. So seeing the strong reviews for Mollie's o made the trip from Bethesda to check them out. Now, I'm from Oklahoma and have lived in Texas for over 20 years. It's hard to beat BBQ in the South. But Mookie's does their darnedest to do just that. I ordered the pulled chicken platter with cole slaw and BBQ beans. My meal was out in less than 5 minutes. The BBQ beans were bathed in a thick blankety sauce of sweet but tangy and slightly zesty goodness. The chicken was approximately 8 oz of nicely spiced breast meat that was moist and could well have been eaten without sauce. But, honestly, who would deprive themselves like that?Mookie's offers 5 sauce varieties for your specific taste. I had them all. The regular sauce is tomato based with a very subtle hint of sweet and spice. The sweet sauce is full of brown sugar goodness like Grandma Dempsey used to make from scratch. The vinegar sauce is traditional down home Southern vinegar, it too having a nice hint of spiciness. My two favorites were the Carolina mustard style and Mook's spicy. The spicy sauce is richly flavored with cayenne pepper and while I personally would have enjoyed it a bit hotter, for most people it would have been perfect. As for the sides, the beans were as good as they sounded and looked. The cole slaw, as a few other reviewers have noted, was slightly on the bland side, although the abundance of celery seed provided a nice flavor that brought the dish a little more to life. If you are in the Great Falls area and are interested in very good food and at very reasonable price (my meal and a glass of tea was $18), check out Mookie's. The service was fast, the setting beautiful, and the food will not disappoint. Cheers! More...
I'm not huge on bbq but this place is pretty good. Their specials have never disappointed. Make sure you try their pastrami and the brisket quesadillas! Their bbq sauces are solid but could use a little extra kick. Also, for being a bbq spot I'd prefer more classic American beers on tap like yuengling, bud, and miller. I like some of the new funky beers, but it's something about the classic American beers that wash down bbq food better. That change alone would probably take it to 5 star! More...
Shared meat sampler. Next time we'll get an extra one to go. Flawless. Great smoked meat. Great variety of sauces on table- went with original mainly. Brisket was some of the best I have had, same story for the pork. Will 100% be back - well worth 40 minute drive to her from outside DC. More...
Nice neighborhood BBQ spot. Been many times, often crowded so call ahead. The drink selections are fantastic, the pork has always been amazing, but the beef brisket and chicken are sometimes inconsistent. I agree with earlier posts that this is like home made barbecue rather than commercial, so still a great spot for dinner with that expectation. The service is great - certainly earns it's crowd, great to have in the neighborhood, and 4 stars all the way! More...
Great local restaurant with fantastic food. Has a neighborhood feel. Our kids loved their mac n cheese and we loved our pulled chicken with coleslaw, potatoes, and (my fave) the onion rings. We'll be going back at lease a couple times a month. It's very reasonably priced, too- dinner for 4 with a couple drinks was $65.00. More...
Really nice selection of slow cooked meats. The side items are also wonderful and a wide variety to choose from. There's a big glass window that showcases the cooking area which I like the service is fast and the dining area is really clean
Visited May, 2018. Needed something close to Lake Fairfax and this was listed as close by. Food was great for adults and their kids menu was excellent as well.
Pulled pork was great. Came smoked and you flavour with the sauce of your choice. Burger was exceptional and the patty was homemade. Lastly, the baked macaroni and cheese was delicious.
The service we had was polite and courteous. We would definitely come back, but are traveling through. Was a great find on our trip. More...
This place is great - stopped in for lunch with my two kids. We had the beef ends and mac-n-cheese. Thank you!
I lived in VA for five years, but somehow I didn't discover Mookie's BBQ until a Yelp friend recommended it to me. All those years I could have been enjoying Mookie's heavenly BBQ... But instead I was wasting my meals at so many other, lesser restaurants! The burnt ends... OH MY GOD. You will be hard pressed to find a more tender or juicy meat anywhere else in the DMV. The meat is just exquisite, you'll have to try it for yourself. The brisket were lean and had delicious crust, with the little fat content I expected hard texture but were delighted to taste an unexpected soft and tenderness in the briskets. The Beef ribs were OK, tasty, tender, and big but not particularly meaty. All the sides are really good here. Our favorites are baked macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and onion rings.Mookie's BBQ is with out a doubt a place that anyone who loves the art of BBQ should seek out. Everything from the ambiance, great friendly staff, to the food is incredible. Will definitely revisit. More...
Absolutely the best BBQ in the area! I have had nearly everything on the menu and you cannot find better BBQ, it is all amazing. Even the cornbread is moist and delicious. They know how to do it right, always with the best cuts of meat and a totally divine dining experience. The service has always been the best with quick and super friendly staff. This is my "go to" place for anything BBQ and I plan to continue going back every week! More...
Enjoyed lunch at Mookie's BBQ on a chilly Tuesday afternoon. Restaurant is nicely laid out with a bar area and comfortable seating in the main restaurant. Prices are fair for the area and no issues using Yelp Check In.Onion rings were amazing, without a doubt the best I have ever had, light, crispy, delicious, not greasy and perfectly cooked, I would go back just for the onion rings. Collard greens were nicely seasoned and very tasty. Corn bread was dry, only took one bite. The burnt ends were good, meaty, nicely charred and not too dry. BBQ sauces were totally forgettable. Enjoyed my meal especially the awesome onion rings. More...
The patio area is beautiful; I love nice outside seating areas where you can relax with a meal. I've never had such good loaded fries! Usually other places are pretty skimpy with the fixings but Mookie's is was truly loaded. The brisket and sauce that the put in the fries were also so delicious. The sandwich and sauces were on point and the potato salad was perfect with a little crunch from bits of celery. We'll be going back soon! More...
I just ate there tonight for the first time. I went in by myself which is sometimes daunting because most places don't have a specialized table for just one person. However they do which I would say is the only critique of the place was the seat was next to the window and the crank for the window was sticking in my side. However the food was excellent. I was this place was more convenient for me. I work in Sterling and live in Winchester. Though I think if it was more convenient I wouldn't ever leave. So probably best for my waistline. More...
Excellent food, great service and perfect location. Black Lives Matter
After seeing so many positive posts about Mookies on Facebook we decided to stop inSuper yummy! Top notch service and atmosphere. Will be back soon!
OMG What is better? Onion rings or mac and cheese? Get them both. This is by far the nicest place in town. The ribs slide off the bone and are buttery tender. I love the chicken too. Brisket not too salty... that is a trick! You have to try this place. More...
I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon Mookie's driving around. Pulled Pork sandwich was very good. I'm just reviewing the BBQ here I didn't hang at the bar or anything. The atmosphere isn't your typical side of the road BBQ joint, it is like half bar and half McDonalds dining area. When I went it was basically empty which scared me, but it turned out good. I don't think people know it exists. I've eaten like everywhere, especially out in the Herndon/Reston area and never heard of this. The location (on the way to nothing and not visible from Route 7) and the expensive cost probably keep people away. The pulled pork sandwich is phenomenal. I really didn't expect it. I'm a Carolina fan so I went with the Vinegar sauce (they have several different options) and at the last minute I also added the Mookie's original sauce and wow what a great combo. It is def my fav pulled pork in the area based on how good it tasted. It came with a side, I got fries because I hate BBQ sides (whatevs). The price was $10 which is steep. At a typical BBQ joint I can order a sandwich without a side. Plus at a typical spot you don't have to tip like it is a restaurant. Maybe I sat in the wrong spot.Anyways the pulled pork sandwich is 5 stars, but the cost knocks it down a star. If you like BBQ then I recommend you try it at least once, and let everyone how the sides are because people love sides :D. More...
The service was excellent; best waiter! The food was good although I didn't think it was excellent, and a bit pricey.
Good barbecue is hard to find but Mookie's delivers. Located in the small Colvin Run "downtown" area, there is ample parking and its a pretty size restaurant inside. The seating is a little run down- the bench in our booth was more of a crater and had seen better days back in the early 80s. But the food is quite good. I always judge a BBQ joint by the brisket. The price seemed a little steep until I got the plate. For the first time I couldn't finish it just because of the sheer amount. Perfect smoke ring on the outside, great spice rub, and the variety of sauces is a great finish. I had the mac and cheese on the side which was nicely baked on top with just the right amount of spice. The chicken tenders for our daughter were quite tasty, and I like that they did a separate mac and cheese for her without the spice. Can't wait to go back! More...
Awesome food! Good service.I cannot wait to come back here for a hike and stop back in!Had the pulled chicken with slaw and sweet bbq sauce.
Specials are fantastic!! Had the white bean and ham - succulent!! Special pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut - incredible! Of course their Mac n cheese is traditional style goodness! Just the best place. Planned of course on pulled pork sandwich but chose a special. They had a pastrami burger option too. Fabulous!!! More...
We come here all the time and the food is always top notch. Tried the brunch this morning and, as always, it hit the spot (trying the blueberry pancakes!).We'll be back of course.
Get: pulled pork nachos, pastrami burger and splurge for the Mac and cheese. Pass on: side of fries Deets: In the mood for awesome bbq and a beer? Look no further than Mookies. This quaint little off the road bbq place was packed when we got there (around noon Saturday) so we chose the bar. The bartender was super sweet and offered a sample of beers we hadn't heard of even though they are local. I loved that they have taps for just local beers- it was a nice home bbq kind of feel. The food was amazing! Not only does it come out of a secret window passage from the bar window with a knock from the chef, but our food came out piping hot. The nachos were a good start and I'd recommend a small for 2-4 people if you are getting other food. The pastrami burger special was delish- the pastrami was thick and aged 9 days. I got a side of Mac and it was cooked in a huge ramekin with a crunchy top. My other half got a pulled pork sandy with fries and enjoyed it with basically every sauce they provide. All and all I totally recommend this place on sunny winter day to feel like your back to the summer side bbq pit. The service, food and local atmosphere were all great. Cheers! More...
food always good. smokey wings are the best. brisket and pulled pork always solid. although the buffalo salad is my favorite with alot of buffalo chicken on it. great place to take the kids.
Delicious, love all of the distinctive sauces that are harmonious even mixed. Light flaky homemade onion rings, and they let the smoked meat stand for itself, it's not doused in sauce you actually get to use what you like as a condiment. I got the pulled pork and subbed sourdough bread for the bun, nice tender lean meat generously piled. Hubby got the brisket and it was another generous portion of chunky slices. We will definitely return. More...
Great Services and Great food. Everything is made to order and I couldn't help but to eat it all. So delicious! My Friend and I just found our monthly dinner spot! Yum!!
AMAZING. Seriously, you're missing out if you don't try this place. We stumbled upon it while out for a drive. While I think all of their food was great, the standout star was their brisket. I usually don't care for meat, but loved their brisket. We also had their side platter with cucumber salad, mac & cheese, and chili. We'll definitely return. More...
A really great place close to Wolf Trap. Loved it. Great food, excellent service!Awesome desserts.
I really enjoyed this place. The service was exceptional, the food had large portions. Plenty on the beer list. The bar seemed like a nice place to get drunk. One of the better bars in Great Falls. More...
Excellent! The burnt ends are meat candy! Wow! All of the side are great too and the staff was friendly & attentive. Worth the drive to NOVA.
So good! We started with the nachos with pulled pork which were delicious (and huge!) followed by the sampler platter...pulled chicken/pork, ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and sausage. I'm not normally a fan of sausage but this stuff was great! The chicken was a little dry, but everything else was really good. Kids enjoyed their beef & veggie soup, mac & cheese, chicken tenders and baked beans. And our sever was awesome. We'll be back! More...
Legit BBQ. I had the sampler and all the BBQ staples are done well and done right. Great smoke flavor. Brisket is their best. Only thing I'd ask for is bigger helpings for the price, but that's a first world problem. More...
My favorite barbeque place, hands down. We either dine in or get carry out at least once a week! Ribs, cucumber salad & onion rings - the best!
We rented space for a party of 60 and Mookie's did an amazing job!!! The service was great, the presentation was perfect and the food was incredible! I would highly recommend Mookie's for any catering services! More...
I got takeout from here a few days ago and I was wowed by the food. I've been looking for a decent barbecue joint in DC that's not super expensive, and so I'm finally glad I got to try this.We called in our order ahead of time for takeout and it was ready when we arrived. Staff was friendly over the phone and in person, and very accommodating. We took our bbq to a Wolf Trap concert (so about 10 minutes down the road) and it stayed decently warm by the time we got there. I ordered pulled pork and honestly it was made so well that I ALMOST DIDN'T PUT BARBECUE SAUCE ON IT. That would have been a mistake. I tried the sweet barbecue sauce and it felt like heaven. Don't pass it up.Next time I want to have an experience dining in. The outdoor seating looks very pretty and sunny, and to be honest...I want to try the loaded fries. They wouldn't have survived as takeout, but they look incredible. In short, I'm so glad this place isn't far from me :D More...
Food was outstanding. I give them 5 stars for the food. Our waiter was clueless. He was terrible, I must have gotten the same waiter as some of the reviewers that had horrible service.I will be back again for the food. I took two stars away for the waiter/host who couldn't get things right from the start. Fix/Train your staff for the remaining two stars. All the best. Go here for the food.*edit - the fixed the service issue. I bumped this to 5 stars now. More...
Just trust and believe that if you try it once you'll find yourself there very often. Hands down the best BBQ in the area . Makes sweet heat seem like a McDonald's. More...
This is a hidden gem of delicious bbq delight! I always love the meat here. They leave the sauce on the table and don't let it sit on the meat to hide the flavor of the meat. The sides I have had so far have been right on par for a great bbq establishment. Can't wait to try the cornbread and bbq brunch on Sundays! My only gripe would be that I wouldn't expect such fantastic bbq from such a clean/nice restaurant, I'm use to it coming from a dirty shack on the side of the road. LOL. Good Job Mookie's!!!!!! More...
BEST RESTAURANT EVER to die for try out the fried Mac and cheese balls delicious
Great BBQ! Good value also!
Really good bbq
Awesome food and great service. The real deal. The wings and pulled pork are world class and if they have pastrami on the menu, order it! the key lime pie is really good also. More...

Good food. Great service... Save room for dessert and get the cookie!
I went for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The place is pretty big and our waitress was attentive. After placing an order our food arrived literally in 2 minutes. We both got pulled pork sandwiches and a side. It was pretty good. It's a good place for a casual lunch. More...
Great BBQ in classic Virginia country setting. Service terrific.
Great food but the service is a tad slow. If you are a bbq snob then you will really appreciate the consistent quality of the cooks
Great food, great service, good sized portioning.
Mookie Burger is the best!
One of the best BBQ's in the area. Make sure you don't eat your fingers cause it just tastes better grabbing them than using the utensil.
Best bbq place in the area. Love it
Burnt ends, ribs, and pastrami were the stars with good backup from the chocolate pecan pie and banana pudding. The pulled pork, chicken, and brisket were good without being notable. The service was excellent.
I liked everything.
Great food and drinks
Some amazing BBQ! Was pleasantly surprised to find that they have the majority of their barbecue is dry-rubbed; with sauce on the table to add to your liking. I can't do tomatoes, so it was great to finally enjoy some delicious BBQ again. The sides were wonderful as well, especially the potato salad. Staff was super friendly and attentive as well. More...

The bbq is excellent and the service is friendly! Tonight we had bbq chicken nachos, pastrami and salmon salad.
Best baked macaroni and cheese ever
Great service and tasty barbecue. We will be visiting Mookies hungry and bringing friends.
Try the burnt ends.
Burnt ends nachos, any questions?
Great BBQ. I got the pulled pork platter. Companion had ribs. Both were good. Nice portion sizes. Service was fine.
Excellent food, great prices, nice ombionse. Only good barbacue in the area.
