Having John recommended to us was easily one of the best bits of advice we were given during the planning of our wedding. When people go to a wedding they like good food, free booze and great music . John most certainly provided the latter.

His attention to detail and level of professionalism was exceptional. He planned our entire playlist aswell as accommodated a memorial video we had chosen to play. He then met with us to run through the order in which everything would happen the day before our event and confirmed there were no last minute changes. On the day he arrived smart and with a huge smile, clearly ready to do what he loves. The evening ran perfectly and the music was excellent. I'd also like to mention he would not let me get him a glass of wine all night, because he was working, and he "doesn't drink whilst DJing."

The service he provided was of the highest standard, the music he played was seamless all night long and the manner in which he conducts business is extremely professional. I would highly recommend John to anyone. More...

John just did my wedding this past Saturday in Monterrey at the Monterrey Dance and Event Center.  WOW!  This guy is legit!  You need to book him for your event.  Not only is he friendly and affable, he is very professional.  He will create any environment you need to make your event the best.  My wife and I were really impressed with the online format he uses to plan his events.  For our wedding we were able to select ANY song we wanted for all the important parts of our reception.  He played everything we asked, when we asked and was tremendously patient with us he new the reception can be chaotic.  John, THANK YOU so much for helping to make our day perfect! We used John for our wedding this past weekend and we would HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone! We met with him very early on in our planning process and decided to go with him on the spot.  He provided us with a planning website that we used to pick specific songs that we wanted and provide a timeline for our day. We then met with him a few weeks prior to the wedding to confirm and finalize details and again we were impressed and felt confident. The day of the wedding we didn't have to worry about a thing! We absolutely LOVED working with John & his wife. DJ for our ceremony + reception.

Our wedding was in Big Sur & even after all the natural disasters John came prepared & even picked up an extra generator the day before.

We gave john a playlist for the reception & just an 'idea' of what we liked for cocktail hour. He nailed everything. Played the classics during cocktail hour & dinner then a mix of 90s, country, and our playlist for dancing.

He did such an amazing job & the sound quality of the mics he provided was perfect. Our guests complimented his work & he got EVERYBODY DANCING! I can't say a lot about him as an MC because we specifically requested minimal MC'ing. What he did say worked for us.

I absolutely recommend John Upshaw's DJ services!  I was in a wedding in 2015 in Morgan Hill where John was the DJ.  My daughter was also a guest of the wedding and getting married in 2016.  We were so impressed with John and liked him so much, we booked him immediately for my daughter's wedding.  We didn't even look for anyone else, John was that good.  John is courteous, professional, pleasant to deal with, efficient and responds quickly to any emails or phone calls.  John is up-to-date with technology and offers online planning tools (planning form, timeline & music requests) for his clients. John drove out to Livermore, showed up four hours early to get himself acquainted with the location and set up since it was his first time there.  He played the processional and ceremony music which was so clear.  No glitches at all for being outdoors.  You could hear the wedding officiate and the bride and groom perfectly.  His timing was impeccable.  He ran the reception superbly.  His introduction to the wedding party really hyped everyone up.  The up-lighting, flashing lights, laser effects and disco ball really made the reception.  He also created an incredible music mix for the father-daughter dance.  He was so much fun and all our guests were complimenting his DJ skills.  Even after the wedding, guests were still sending text messages how great the music was.  If you are looking for a DJ, no need to look any further, call John now before he gets booked! If we can only put more stars, we will!! Dj john exceeded our expectations when we hired him! A very warm hearted person, professional, and will cater to all your song request! He's got one of the best DJ websites ive ever encountered! My wife and I were delighted for the job he did' he delivered it so well! Flawless!!! He's top notch experience being a disc jockey willblow you away. From the moment we met up with him we knew he's the perfect DJfor our event of a lifetime!! Recently I was looking for a DJ for my mom's birthday party... When we found DJ John (Mix and Spin), right out of the gate from our first conversation he was so incredibly professional, answered all of my questions, was not pushy and gave me a very comfortable feeling that he would follow through which was very important as my cousin recently got married and had 3 DJ's bail on her need by date even after the deposit was issued. ..  Shortly after our first conversation I called him back and booked him for our event.  John sent me his music database where I could review and even pick out all of the music we wanted for the party, or if we wanted we could leave the play list completely up to him.  I was so impressed with the music he had to choose from, music from 1940-today's top hits!!! Impressive!!!!! John followed up constantly during the time from booking the party to the night prior giving me that comfort of knowing I would not be bailed on and that he would show up to do what he was paid to do, this was very impressive to me and I did not know prior to booking John how important the follow up and checking in was, can't put a price tag on piece of mind!  Also, there was a particular song I did not see on his play list which was important to have played that night and all I had to do was mention it to John one time and he made sure he had it for the night of the event.  The night of the event came and John and his staff were amazing!!!! He did not mind the interruptions from people who wanted to make a speech or request a specific song... He was fun and very professional! So much so that he is officially our go to DJ for all upcoming events!  Added bonus to his amazing DJ skills was he even brought along a photographer at no charge who took photo's of the party and provided a disc with all of the pictures which were taken!!!
