There is no other furniture store in the area, that can offer a better value proposition. You just won't find this level of American bench-made quality, fast delivery, and customer care for less money at any furniture showroom near Seattle, and definitely not downtown on Western Ave. Not even on the internet.

Fantastic quality and customer service.Purchased the The Karma Sectional 119 six years ago. A centerpiece in our living room, the couch looks the same as the day it was delivered. Last month a button from the button tufted cushions came off. Calling the store to ask for a recommendation on where to have it repaired, I was told to bring in the cushion in for a free repair, while I waited. Five years ago we bought our Vivian Multi sectional from M.D.S. and our friends told us "we were crazy to buy a white couch". We have had our sectional for just under a year and could not be happier with it.  Their couches are stylish, good quality, and very reasonably priced.  The cushions on our past couches always lost their shape/firmness while our current cushions have kept their firmness well.  We have the section style with the buttons on the whole couch, and had a couple minor button issues  on the sitting cushions.  I greatly appreciated their awesome customer service for right away offering to fix the buttons for us complimentary.  Modern Design Sofas is top on my list of places to recommend to friends.  The delivery people were great as well. My husband and I recently moved to Seattle without much furniture. Our first stop for furniture was Modern Design Sofas. We fell in love with the Vivian sofa but wanted to look around more. We came back a few days later to place our order. We customized the size, sofa inserts, and fabric. On January 4th we placed our order, with an expectancy of a 6-8 week arrival. Less than three weeks later, the sofa arrived to Seattle and the delivery company was able to drop it by within an a day. Everyone was so sweet at Modern Design Sofas, as well as the delivery company. We are in absolute love with our new sofa!! We've had our sectional from Modern Design Sofas for almost 2 years now and we're still really happy with it! We wanted something really quality but had a smaller budget (1-1. 5k) and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to accomplish both there. We visited a couple times before pulling the trigger and the person who assisted us was really patient and helped us find the right mix of style/color/fabric to fit our home and stand up to our pets :) Really nice selection and great value based on price/reviews for other couches we looked at from Crate and Barrel (a little more expensive with average reviews) and Pottery Barn (great reviews but way more expensive). The quality was also better than we found at the Macy's furniture gallery for couches in that price range. I don't remember the exact timeline but it was ready early. We opted to pick up to save on delivery and the guys at the warehouse we great as well! Would definitely buy another from them! More...

There were way too many items I wanted to buy in this store! Sometimes I'll browse through Pioneer Square and find myself lost (in a good way) among all of the amazing furniture stores. As I'm soon embarking on buying a condo, its great to pop in and look and what's for sale. Rugs, lamps, sofas, bed frames, and even accessories. I hadn't been to MDS before and the gal working there when I went in was incredible kind. She wasn't pushy, she didn't follow me around, but as I was leaving she kindly flagged me down and handed me her card and thanked me for visiting. I'll definitely be back for some serious shopping. Once I started dealing directly with the store owner, Anthony, my experience in this store was unsurpassed. He was workable when it came to buying the sofa and he came through in a major way when the delivery date was misquoted and ended up 3 weeks later than planned. For this he offered a free delivery and scotch guard for the piece. The sofa arrived in perfect condition, just as I ordered it, with no change to my fabric color or type. It is absolutely comfortable, sturdy and stylish. I would recommend anyone to this store and hope to find myself back there in the future looking for other great pieces! More...

End to end a great experience.  I wanted a mid century style sectional that was US made.  I stopped in and was given a great shopping experience.  I ordered one that was built in LA and the design, fabrics and build are exactly what I wanted.  The sectional arrived 2 weeks early and was delivered right on time.  They were professional from start to finish,  I highly recommend them over the many other chain stores.  For $1700, an American made couch from a local owner with perfect sales experience, makes this a great place to shop. We ordered a Karma sectional with a couple upgrades on fabrics. We are very happy with the product and customer service. The lead time was 4-6 weeks, it came in 5. The delivery company did a great job with scheduling and promptly arrived in the 2 hour window they gave us. Everything was correct and we love our new couch. The selection is very affordable for made in the USA couchs. We shopped all the major department and furniture stores and they were the best as far as price, quality, and variety of options. I am a big fan of this company. I am a professional Interior Designer, specializing in very high end residential design. For my own home, I have a much more modest budget but the same high-end taste. I have purchased a sectional and loveseat from MDS for my family room and am in the process of ordering two more sofas for my living room. I was able to customize pieces extensively: shorten arm heights, shorten overall lengths, remove buttons and welts, supply my own fabric, etc. The price for the quality is outstanding. You will pay less than at any other major vendor (I don't think I'm allowed to name names?!) and you have options that the others never give. Delivery was very fast. We had a strange situation where one of the seams came undone on one of the cushions within a month of delivery and a few days before hosting Thanksgiving. Obviously, that shouldn't happen, but being in the business, I know that stuff happens all the time. The difference is how problems are handled: Anthony had it repaired and returned within 48 hours. I can't imagine having that level of service with a large chain. Highly recommend. More...

We recently bought a leather sofa from Modern Design Sofas. When the sofa was arrived we had concerns about indentations and marks left by packing materials and did not accept delivery. Anthony was agreeable about that, but asked us to come to the store the next day to see how it looked "after a day of breathing." The sofa had recovered by then, we paid the balance, and Anthony delivered it within an hour, himself! He handled the entire thing very well and I would not hesitate to recommend his shop. I liked this store because if the no-nonsense, no-pressure attitude of its salesperson, Anthony. They sell a lot of items but not so many as to overwhelm you, and the quality of merchandise seems very good. You just might find a relatively inexpensive, modern-looking sofa that speaks to you. Quite a few display items were also on sale at the time of my visit. Those, I thought, were sold for significantly less than their equivalents (in terms of size, design, and materials) at Dania for example, but looked like new.
